Chris had just returned from prison, only to find his wife getting married to Edward Jones—the same man who sent thugs to kill him behind bars.
He walked into the banquet hall, and just as Edward was about to place the ring on Alice’s finger, Chris shouted, “STOP this wedding!” Everyone turned sharply. Gasps echoed around the hall. “Isn’t that the guy who went to jail for his wife?” “He has the guts to show up here?” “He took the blame for her theft and went to prison. And now he’s back?” The whispers weren’t even quiet. But Chris didn’t care. He kept walking toward Alice and Edward, locking eyes with both. “I thought you said he was dead?” Alice whispered to Edward, her voice low and shaken. Before Edward could speak, Chris spoke up, loud and clear. “I can’t believe you’re marrying Edward Jones. The same man who tried to kill me in prison!” He took a deep breath and stepped forward. “Five years ago, you got down on your knees and begged me to take the blame for stealing. I did it because I loved you, Alice. I went to prison for you. And now I come back and see you getting married to him?” “Please, Chris!” Alice snapped, her face twisted in irritation. “Today is my day. Don’t ruin it for me. What happened five years ago is in the past. I’ve moved on. You should too.” Chris stared at her. This was the same woman who cried and begged him to go down for her. Now she was acting like none of it mattered. He slammed his hand on the table beside him. “This marriage won’t happen. Not while I’m still breathing!” “And who are you to stop this wedding?” Edward finally spoke up. “It’s clear why Alice chose me. She couldn’t stay with a loser like you. Back when you were married, you couldn’t even buy her underwear. You were broke—living in her parents’ house, running errands like a servant. That’s why she left you, Chris!” Chris’s fists tightened. What Edward said was true. He had lived with Alice’s parents and done their chores. But Alice had never asked for anything fancy, and now Edward made it sound like he was the one providing for her all along. Chris’s voice trembled. “Wait… you mean this thing between you two has been going on for a while?” “No, Chris. It’s not been a while…” another voice cut in. Everyone turned. It was Katherine, Alice’s mother. Tall and slim, though already 42, she looked much younger. “You idiot,” she spat. “It’s been going on since the beginning.” Chris blinked. “What… what do you mean?” . “The affair started the night of your wedding! I drugged you so Alice could spend the night with Edward. You slept like a rock while they had their fun. Right under your nose.” Katherine tuned in, stepping forward. “I only allowed Alice to marry you because I thought you had a future. But you’re just a useless rat. That’s why we made her steal the diamond and beg you to take the blame. We wanted you out of our lives as fast as possible!” Katherine completed, bursting into laughter. That laughter lit a fire inside Chris. Without warning, he slapped Katherine across the face. “You’re a wicked woman!” he shouted. Alice rushed forward, raising her hand to slap him back but Chris caught it mid-air and slapped her too. “How dare you!” she screamed. Edward moved closer, fury in his eyes. “Just wait, Chris. You’ll pay for that!” He turned to the guards. “Get in here!” Two strong men stormed in. “Beat him! And make sure he doesn’t leave here alive!” “Yes, sir!” they replied, cracking their knuckles. They lunged at Chris, but just as their fists flew, Chris caught both of them with ease. His body tensed, and with one twist, he broke their wrists. Their hands dangled limp. Before they could recover, Chris jumped and kicked them hard. They flew back, crashing into the banquet doors. The hall fell silent. Everyone stared, stunned including Alice and her mother, who knew Chris couldn’t even fight back in the past. “How did he do that?” Alice whispered to her mother. “He used to be weak. He couldn’t even stand up for himself back then. So how on earth did he become so strong?…” She flashed back to the prison years—how Edward sent men to beat Chris again and again. Until one day, an old man told Chris he could change his life. That old man said his time was almost up, and he needed someone to pass on a great power. If Chris agreed, he would learn the ancient fighting arts of the Dragons and become the richest man alive. Chris had accepted. For five long years, he trained hard—learning martial arts, medicine, and secrets hidden from the world. Now, he was stronger than anyone could imagine. Chris snapped out of his memory as Edward stepped forward, yelling, “I don’t care how strong you are, Chris. You’re still going to die today!” Chris’s eyes narrowed. He started walking toward Edward. “What if I kill you right now?” he asked, his voice low and threatening. “You won’t dare,” Edward said, stepping back. “My father is the CEO of Nawi. And Nawi is linked to the Dragon Group. One phone call, and they’ll come here. You can’t survive them!” Chris grabbed Edward by the collar and lifted him like he weighed nothing. “Then call them,” he growled. Suddenly, a cold voice rang out from the back of the hall. “How dare you touch him? Do you have a death wish?” Everyone turned. The crowd gasped. Faces turned pale. It was Rachael Blake. CEO of Dragon Group. The most feared woman in the country. Ruthless. Cold-blooded. Known by one name: Miss Poison.

23. Bianca Has A Plan!
Bianca stood frozen, venom swirling hot in her veins as the murmurs faded into a background blur. Before she could lash out again, her mother stormed toward her, grabbing her wrist with urgency.“We need to leave here quietly, Bianca,” Bridget said in a hushed but sharp tone, her eyes darting around. “Look—everyone’s taking pictures already. Thank heavens I disguised my real features. We must get out of here before our faces are plastered all over social media. The little reputation we have left is at stake!”Bianca yanked her arm back in defiance. “I’m not going anywhere! Let them record! Let them see what Chris did—”Bridget’s patience snapped. Her grip tightened, and her voice lowered to a dangerous pitch. “Stop acting like a child! Do you want to become a meme by sunset? Look around you—every single person in that room had their phone out.”She scanned the surroundings again, paranoia creeping into her expression. “And Mr. Lockwood isn’t just anybody. He’s respected. Influential.
22. You Shouldn't Have Underestimated Me!
Bianca’s mouth parted, but no words came out. Her throat went dry, her mind blank. Everything had hit her like a slap in slow motion.Bridget’s eyes bounced between Chris, Ava, and Mr. Lockwood, trying to grasp the truth of what she'd just heard. Her brows furrowed as reality settled like a heavy blanket. She leaned in toward Bianca and whispered, almost breathlessly, “Bianca, look at the trouble you got us into. That man is the CEO!”Bianca’s lips twitched as she finally found her voice. She faced Ava, her voice strained. “What are you saying, Ava? Are you seriously trying to say that this man over here… is the CEO of Asstas?”Ava didn’t reply. She walked straight to Mr. Lockwood, her tone respectful and composed. “Sir, please pardon her. She truly had no idea who she was speaking to.”Bridget nudged Bianca again, panic now mixing with guilt. “I told you to behave, but you wouldn’t listen,” she muttered. “You better fix this before it gets worse.”Bianca stepped away from her mother
21. Chaos
Ava and Chris left the mansion for Asstas. As usual, Chris sat silently in the driver’s seat, dressed in his black-and-white security uniform, but his heart wasn’t in his duty. He knew Ava had only agreed to her mother’s request—for him. And throughout their drive to the company, Ava remained quiet, her mood heavy and written all over her face.Chris could see it clearly. He held her hand on the gear shift, even as he drove. “Are you still upset about what happened, Ava?”Ava sniffled and tried to look away. “I’m okay, Chris. You don’t have to worry about anything…”“Are you sure, Ava?” Chris interjected quickly. “Because I can see it in your eyes. You’re mad at yourself just for saying yes to Mother’s demand. You didn’t want to help Bianca get that job, and it’s not like you didn’t have options. You only did it to keep her from throwing me out of the house, didn’t you?”Ava shook her head, hiding her emotions. “It’s okay, Chris. I’ve already accepted what she asked me to do. I only a

Ava gave her mother a stern yet confused look as she stared at the papers handed to her.“What are these?” she asked sharply.Mrs. Karen kept her hand outstretched, her expression unreadable.“Why don’t you take a proper look first before asking me questions about what they are or what they’re for?”Suspicion immediately crept into Ava’s eyes as she glanced at Bridget and Bianca, both of whom were watching her with oddly expectant expressions. Finally, Ava took the documents from her mother and looked down at the bold heading. Her brow lifted."Application for Job in Asstas Group of Companies. Secretary General."She scoffed and let out a dry laugh.“What is this now? A job application? Seriously?”Mrs. Karen nodded as if everything was perfectly reasonable.“Yes. That’s Bianca’s job application. She wants to work for Asstas as a Secretary General.”Ava didn't even let her finish before cutting in.“And what exactly does that have to do with me?” she asked, her voice rising with disbe
19. Have A Look!
Chris’s face drained of color. Nothing grated on his pride more than being humiliated by a woman, especially after what his wife had done to him. Ever since her betrayal, his tolerance for women’s disrespect had thinned to a thread. And now, Bianca had slapped him.He stood frozen, staring up at her. His jaw clenched, and his eyes glowed red with suppressed fury.“Why did you—”“Are you gonna hit me, huh?” Bianca interrupted him, stepping forward boldly like she was daring him to try it. “You poured that cold juice on me. Instead of acting like a decent human and apologizing, you're just standing there asking useless questions? You want another slap, huh? Say something stupid again and I’ll give it to you!”Ava pushed forward, anger flaring in her eyes. She had seen the whole thing, seen how it all went down, and now she couldn’t hold her tongue.“Watch your attitude, girl,” Ava snapped, jabbing her finger in Bianca’s direction. “You didn’t have to slap Chris. He didn’t pour the juice

Where are you? Was all that drama at the banquet necessary?”Chris blinked, playing dumb. “What are you talking about, Aunt?”“Don’t start acting clueless with me, Chris. You had the nerve—the sheer audacity—to talk to Mr. Leonard that way! And because of you, those men pulled out of the partnership and sponsorship deals. Do you have any idea what you’ve done?”He gave a small shake of
