“Listen to me and stop crying over spilled milk." Svetlana's words came off as rude but Adolphus still decided to hear her out.

“What, now? Has Richmond dumped you as I predicted he would." Adolphus replied in an attempt to get her to react but surprisingly, she didn't.

She remained calm for a moment before finally speaking up 

“It's about Richmond. He's plotting something against you so I called to warn you." Svetlana sounded so serious that Adolphus almost fell for her words.

“You've gotta be kidding me, Svetlana. You know that there's no way I'm listening to whatever trash that's coming out of your mouth.”

"You and Richmond are together so why would you betray him? I'm sure that whatever he's plotting, you're also a part of it." 

"I'm not a part of it and I feel bad about everything that's happening between us.” Svetlana replied but Adolphus could still not comprehend her.

She was sounding rather strange, like she wasn't the one who had been talking down on him. 

Adolphus was completely confused. “Svetlana, what are you up to?" 

“I'm not up to anything, I'm just looking out for you for old time sake. I'm only telling you this because we were good in the past and you helped me." 

“Ok, I'm listening. What exactly is Richmond planning?" Adolphus decided not to retort any more and decided to pay attention.

Svetlana was quiet for a while and made Adolphus a little impatient that he snapped at her. “Are you going to say something or should I end this call right now." 

"Wait, can we meet tomorrow after classes? Let's continue this conversation at the abandoned chemistry laboratory and I'll give you all the details.”

"Hmph. You know that there's no way I'm meeting you alone again. You made it clear that you don't care about me.” Adolphus retorted but Svetlana kept insisting.

"I promise you that I'm not joking. If you ever loved me once then listen to me. You know that I'm only following Richmond because he's rich.”

"I don't have any feelings for him to be honest. I only said those things to you because he'd be suspicious of me if I don't act the part.”

“Just come and hear me out." 

"Why don't you say it over the phone. What difference will it make if we meet each other?” Adolphus was still not giving in so she decided not to probe any longer.

“Alright, I'll be waiting for you at the place at 3 pm. And if you must know, Richmond is organizing a party at his home and everyone is invited, excluding you and your friends.”

"The party is to get everyone to forget about how he got arrested by you. He intends to make you the villain before everyone. It's happening by 9 pm at his home because his father won't be around.”

"Why are you telling me all these? And why does it look like Richmond is threatened by a mere minion like you guys call me?" 

"I'll be waiting for you.” Svetlana made that final comment before ending the call. She didn't reply to Adolphus's last questions.

While lying on his king-sized bed, Adolphus kept pondering on Svetlana's words.

He was wondering if he should meet her up or was there something more to it.

Maybe it was a trap.

Adolphus thought about it and decided to hear her out.

Moreover, they were meeting in the daytime, inside the school premises.

Very early the next morning, Adolphus hurried back to school in a taxi, declining Bradley's suggestion of dropping him off.

“My mother is around, she'll be needing you more than I do so stay here with her.” Adolphus had said to the man before hurrying off.

After their classes for the day Donald and Glover dragged him to the school cafeteria.

"Come on, let's have lunch together before you run off for work." Donald said to him, leading the way while they followed behind.

They decided that it was not the best time to ask Adolphus many questions, especially about how he runs back home after school.

They believed that something was going on at home. Unfortunately, Adolphus does not want to share his problems with them.

They had always known him to be like that.

All the help Adolphus had received from them in the past, he never asked for any of them. They figured things out and decided to help.

“Ok, let's go have lunch then." Adolphus replied to Donald, his thoughts unsettled.

While having their lunch of bugger and soda, Adolphus kept glancing at his phone.

It was so obvious that Glover inquired.

“Are you expecting a call from someone or do you have somewhere to be?" 

Lifting his anxious face and staring at his friends, Adolphus forced out a smile and the words that came out of his mouth was a stutter.

"I…um… Actually, I have a job to do now. You know how it is with the errands I run, it can come anytime." 

"I don't get it. I thought you told us about a new job that pays you well. Why do you still run errands?” Donald inquired, casting a glance at Glover who raised his brows at him. 

“Guys, I already told you the last time. It's never enough. I need all the money I can get." 

Adolphus threw the last piece of his snack in his mouth, gulped down the remainder of his soda drink and was about to stand up when his phone began to ring.

The phone was on the table and one neck stretch, Donald and Glover would be able to see the identity of the caller.

Swiftly, Adolphus reached out for the phone and snatched it off the table like it was being held back.

“Guys, I have to run now. See you later." He hurried out of the cafeteria before answering Svetlana's call.
