"Finish him off!" Liza Brown, standing behind her husband, cheered on the guards.
The woman looked impatient to see her son-in-law killed.
Meanwhile, Mikael casually turned to his wife, "Jenna, your family is willing to go this far just to get rid of me?"
"What ... are you sure you won't regret it?" Mikael continued.
Jenna's lips trembled.
Suddenly, a doubt arose in her heart.
She had never loved her husband. In fact, she was happy when Mikael had an accident and ended up unconscious.
She also wanted to divorce Mikael immediately and marry the man of her dreams, Jack Rolland. But lately, Mikael's change had surprised her and made her feel strange. She seemed to have a slight reluctance to see that Mikael was no longer interested in her.
Bobby, who was fed up with his useless son-in-law, shouted, "Jenna, you don't have to listen to him. Guards, beat him up."
The six guards began attacking Mikael, who had no weapons.
Three of the guards intended to punch Mikael in the stomach and chest, but Mikael managed to subdue all three of them in just a few seconds.
Bobby gaped, as if he couldn't believe that the guards he considered reliable and strong could be so easily defeated by Mikael, whom he always considered a loser son-in-law.
Liza, on the other hand, immediately pulled Jenna's hand and took her daughter to the door.
The three remaining guards exchanged glances, looking somewhat surprised, but they immediately launched a counterattack on Mikael.
However, once again, the attack meant nothing to Mikael. Even though they used several weapons at once, Mikael was able to easily incapacitate them all, leaving the six guards lying helplessly on the floor.
Bobby's face paled. "Damn it! You ... how did you defeat them?"
Liza, who had been arrogant, was now trembling with fear as she hugged her daughter.
"You just woke up from a coma today. How can you be that strong now? Are you ... using illegal drugs? Watch out, I'll call the police to arrest you." Bobby quickly took his cell phone from his pants pocket.
But Mikael was much faster than him. In a flash, Mikael managed to take the phone from Bobby's hand.
Bobby froze, and cold sweat began to dampen his temples.
“You … what do you really want from me?” Bobby said.
Mikael smiled thinly. “You already know the answer.”
Bobby shook his head.
"By the way, if the police come here ... it won't be me who gets caught, but you, for planning my murder."
Bobby felt his body go limp. He stared at his son-in-law, who looked completely different from his usual self.
The Mikael he knew would never have dared to do this to him. But the Mikael who was now standing in front of him seemed to fear nothing.
This man was not the loser he had known all this time. This man was like a new person who had no fear in him whatsoever.
"Mr. Brown, why did you have to go to all this trouble? You wanted me to divorce your daughter, and I agreed. Why are you trying to kill me?" Mikael raised his right eyebrow while still playing with Bobby's cell phone.
Bobby didn't respond and just tried to calm himself down because he was too shocked.
Meanwhile, Jenna, whose fear had begun to subside a little, finally spoke up, "Mike, if you really agree to divorce me, why do you have to make a condition?"
“Condition?”
“You’re asking for that old, useless watch.”
“It’s mine. Your father confiscated it just because I made a mistake long ago. Now … I’m about to divorce you, so why is he still keeping something that doesn’t belong to him?” Mikael replied coldly.
Jenna laughed mockingly, meaning that Mikael shouldn't make a big deal out of the item. "Come on, Mike. It's not that expensive. You shouldn't be acting like this just to get it."
Mikael snorted.
If the old watch was just an ordinary watch, he definitely wouldn't have done something like this.
The problem was that the old watch belonged to a member of his family and it was also one of the things that connected him to his family.
Mikael Avery couldn't let Mikael Summer lose something so meaningful to him.
"Jenna, it's none of your business whether that thing is valuable or not. I just want your father to give it back to me," Mikael said coldly.
Jenna swallowed hard. "What if you can't get it back?"
Mikael frowned, "Why can't I?"
Jenna fell silent and glanced at her father, who still looked confused.
Mikael, observing the two of them, finally understood something. "Ah, so my watch isn't in your possession, Mr. Brown?"
Bobby felt his life slipping away.
Mikael quickly touched his father-in-law's shoulder. Bobby screamed in surprise but didn't dare move because he thought his son-in-law looked very dangerous at that moment.
"So, where is the watch now, Mr. Brown?"
Bobby licked his lips, looking so scared.
"Did you throw it away or what? Tell me!" Mikael urged.
Liza, who had been too afraid to speak, shouted, "Hey, what's so important about that old watch that has no value?"
"That's none of your business, Mrs. Brown," Mikael replied, glaring at his mother-in-law.
"Come on, Mr. Brown. Tell me what really happened so that my old watch is no longer with you!" Mikael ordered.
Bobby began to waver. He glanced at the floor where his guards lay helplessly, and he didn't even know if they were still alive or not.
Bobby felt that his life could also be lost at that moment if Mikael didn't get what he wanted.
"The watch ... I forgot where I put it."
Mikael frowned, looking incredulous.
"I'm not lying. I ... have a lot of things, and besides, I confiscated that old watch a long time ago. I ... don't remember where I put it." Bobby explained, not daring to look at Mikael.
Mikael observed the change in Bobby's attitude, which clearly showed that the man was lying.
He had met so many people like Bobby. Experience had taught him to always look at a problem from several angles.
And when he saw Bobby's reaction, it was clear that the item was not in his possession.
The man was not lying about the absence of the item, but he was hiding a secret.
"All right, then, three o'clock tomorrow afternoon."
Liza stared blankly.
Jenna, who also did not understand, opened her mouth again, "What do you mean, three o'clock tomorrow afternoon?"
Mikael casually turned to his wife, "I'll sign the divorce papers you want if that old watch is back in my hands before three o'clock tomorrow afternoon."
Jenna's eyes widened, "And what if the item still can't be found? Won't you sign the divorce papers, Mikael?"

His brow furrowed slightly. Before Mikael could do anything, he heard Leon Verdict speak, “You … won’t salute Deputy General Henley, Cadet?”The atmosphere around them instantly grew tense. Several other soldiers standing nearby began watching quietly.Arion swallowed hard. He knew this wasn’t going to end well.Mikael remained standing where he was, looking calm, unaffected and unflustered even though a senior soldier had already reprimanded him.Goodness! He hadn’t realized there was someone as fearless as Mikael.Arion watched as Mikael’s gaze shifted to Leon, then toward Sean, as if assessing the situation rather than being part of it.Leon narrowed his eyes. “You stand before the Deputy General of the Arans Royal Army and refuse to salute? How dare you!”Leon smiled irrit

Mikael Avery finished his dinner without seeming in a hurry. He set down his last spoon calmly, paying no heed to the chorus of jeers still echoing around him. Some people even deliberately raised their voices when they saw him stand up.“Wow, done eating already? Trying to make a run for it, are you?”“Of course. He hasn’t had the guts to fight back this whole time.”“What a coward!”Mikael didn’t respond. He stood up, briefly smoothed out his clothes, then walked away from the table. His steps remained calm. Dilon let out a long sigh, his gaze softening as he looked at Arion. “Don’t twist it like that,” he said softly. “You’re still my friend. You always have been. That hasn’t changed.”Arion fell silent for a moment, but his jaw tightened. “But you just said we’re here to compete.”“Yes,” Dilon replied firmly. “As participants, we are rivals. But that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped considering you a friend.”The explanation made sense, but for some reason it only made Arion even more annoyed. There was something in Dilon’s tone-too rational, too cold that made him feel like their relationship was being weighed, not lived.“I don’t like the way you think,” Arion muttered finally.Dilon frowned. “Arion, it’s not what you think. You’re just-”“It really doesn’t matter if you consider me a rival too,” Arion cut in quickly. He turned around, then walked away, choosing to sit on the other side of the room. The distance between them, which had been just a few steps, now felt like a chasm.Dilon fel

“Isn’t that … Diana Avery?”“Diana Avery? General Avery’s sister?”Another soldier remarked, “Of course. Who else has the surname Avery apart from those siblings?”Mikael’s attention, which had previously been focused solely on his younger sister, was now divided by the indistinct whispers of the recruit candidates. The recruit candidates began to whisper, their eyes fixed on Diana.“Goodness! She really is beautiful! Absolutely stunning!” a young man in the back row whispered, nearly choking with nervousness as he stared at Diana.“If she weren’t beautiful, how could King Philup be so smitten with her?” replied his friend, stifling a laugh.Mikael Avery’s composure was instantly shattered. His fists clenched at his sides. He knew exactly what their stares meant. Every graceful step Diana took seemed to fan the embers of anger in his chest.‘Bastard! Anyone who dares to look at her with impure thoughts will regret it,’ Mikael thought, his jaw clenching. He glanced briefly at Sean Henl

Sean Henley stood tall on a small stage facing hundreds of prospective soldiers. Chapter 17
Jesse Colyn was still staring at the man who had just been called, even after Mikael Summer had stepped away from the examination table. That faint smile kept lingering in his mind. There was something about him that felt so familiar.Jesse furrowed his brow, looking confused. For some reason, an image of someone suddenly popped into his mind.‘Why does he remind me of General Avery’?That faint smile and that calm gaze… for some reason, they felt very similar to the late war general of the Kingdom of Arans. But two seconds later, Jesse shook his head slowly.“Impossible,” he muttered softly.General Avery was gone. Everyone in the Kingdom of Arans knew that. Besides, the man who had just been called clearly had a different face.Maybe it was just a coincidence.
