chapter 7

When Trevor learned that his private investigator had discovered something on Elijah, he expected something big to quickly put Elijah down before Elijah could destroy him but unfortunately, he was surprised to hear disappointing news, which forced him to change his quick plan to play the long game, which is about to surprise everyone.

“Mr. Trump, you called us here?” one of Trevor’s board members, Mrs. Shiloh, inquires.

“Yes, I did, and I have a significant announcement to make. I’ve decided to accept my brother’s offer and allow him to reinvest in our company.” His response shocks everyone in the boardroom.

“You have?” Mr. Nelson, another of his board members, inquires.

Trevor turns to face him and smiles when he hears that.

“Yes. I promised Tracy, my receptionist, and the rest of you I would go to any length to save our company and that is what I’m doing.” He responds with a soothing and calm voice, astonishing everyone yet again.

Trevor has never been one to joke and smile with his staff or even his board of directors; he has always been the arrogant, disrespectful CEO that every employee dreads; why is he suddenly all smiling and calm?

Or, more importantly, what caused his change of heart towards his half brother Elijah, when it’s no secret that he despises him and has made it known that he doesn’t want to work with him?

Although it will undoubtedly save the Wilson company, the board members and employees are surprised; rather than being relieved that their money will not be lost and their jobs would not be lost.

“I hear you, but may I ask why have you changed your mind? You’ve made it crystal clear that you don’t want your brother’s help.” Mrs. Shiloh asks once more.

Trevor turns to face her and shocks everyone with a smile once again.

“I’ve decided that my father’s business, which is now my business, is more essential than my pride or animosity for my brother.” He claims.

“It makes sense,” Mr. Nelson responds.

“It certainly does. That’s it, and unless there are questions, I’d like to adjourn the meeting. Oh, and Tracy, please notify Mr. Good and Mr. Jackson of this good news.”

Tracy nods and walks out of the boardroom. The rest of the board members follow her, leaving Trevor to sit with a smile as if whatever he’s up to is going as planned.

Meanwhile, the attractive Ragnar, whom the world believes is Elijah, is eating lunch with his cousin in the house.

The two have been discussing their way forward and plans to continue to destroy Trevor when Ragnar suddenly says the topic

“You haven’t told me how Elijah is doing?” He inquires of his cousin.

“Good. He hasn’t touched booze in over two weeks. He also goes to a therapist, so...”

The multimillionaire beams.

“You have to go see him,” Ragnar’s cousin, Jacob, says, shocking him.

See him? Why would he want to risk the media finding out that his not Elijah and Elijah’s whereabouts? If that happens, Trevor wins again, and he does not pay for what he has done to Elijah.

That is not acceptable to the multimillionaire.

He quickly turns to face his cousin and responds.

“I can’t because everyone is watching me, and if they find out...”

He tries to speak, but his cousin interrupts him before he can finish his statement.

“They will not follow you to another nation, Ragnar; remember, this isn’t just about vengeance; it’s also about you getting to know Elijah and developing a relationship with him.” He reminds Ragnar that, as essential as his plan is, being there for Elijah and getting to know him is also important.

Ragnar gives him a brief glance.

“I know. I’ll pay him a visit.” After a brief pause, he says.

His cousin smiles for a while after hearing that.

“How are his children doing?” He asks, continuing the topic

“The little one seemed to like her father, although those idiots restrict her from visiting him. Jeremy is upset with him because I messed up and didn’t realize I had to tell him I was back and rich again.”

“I hope you can repair that; remember, you’re not here to wreck Elijah’s life, but to make it better.”

“I know,” Ragnar says.

Back in Trevor’s office, Trevor was seated in his office chair when he was startled to see his stepson, Jeremy, stroll in.

“You wanted to see me,” Jeremy says, folding his arms and looking at his stepfather, whom he despises wholeheartedly.

Jeremy has never liked Trevor, no matter how many times Trevor has attempted to make him like him in the past.

“I did.”

Trevor responds by offering his stepson a chair to sit in, but Jeremy, as always, would rather get to the point than play father, son with his number one enemy, so he asks

“What exactly do you want?”

Trevor smiles when he hears that, which worries Jeremy out.

Jeremy, like the rest of the world, knows Trevor as the most serious person in the world, which is why he is astonished by his cheerful expression.

“Do you talk to your father like that, Jeremy?” Trevor, who is still smiling, inquires.

Jeremy laughs at that.

“You are not my father.” He responds.

“I married your mother.”

Jeremy chuckles again saying nothing.

“whom you’ve been deceiving and lying.” Trevor continues, startling Jeremy.

Jeremy quickly turns to face him.

“What are you on about?” He inquires, intrigued and startled.

“I know you’ve been covertly seeing your father despite your mother’s warnings not to go near him, and if you try to deny anything, you must know I have proof.” He says this, causing Jeremy to blink and fall silent for a moment.

“So, you’re going to inform my mother? You already know she’ll murder me if you do.”

“Not unless you agree to do something for me.” Trevor smiles again, surprising Jeremy.

Trevor is clearly up to something, but Jeremy does not know what it is. What could Trevor have been up to that made him so happy?

While still having lunch with his cousin, Ragnar receives a message from an unknown number, inviting him to one of his offices to celebrate the start of their victory in destroying Trevor.

He rushes there after leaving his cousin Jacob, and the instant he comes in, he sees a lovely lady waiting at his office.

“We did it.” he smiles at her as he walks in.

When she hears that, the person in question smiles back.

“Welcome back to the Company Elijah.” She says

“I wouldn’t have done it without you, Tracy.”

He says this while glancing at Trevor’s lovely receptionist, Tracy.
