Chapter 12 Choice

(No Henry, humans don't envolve, the crystals are used to produce beast weapon)

Henry tilted his head, his voice low and thoughtful.

"Beast weapon… that's creative ."

He hesitated, then asked, "So if I got crystals from a merchant store, would that help with my evolution?"

(No, Henry. Beast crystals can only be sold to the military after adventurers bring them in.)

"So… the military are the ones producing beast weapons?"

(Yes.)

Henry hummed, rubbing his chin. "And what about the human Settlement near the dungeon?"

(It's a great place, but for now you can't go there, Henry.)

His brows furrowed. "Why not, RAI?"

(Because you're a goblin, not a human.)

The words sank deep, heavy as stone. Henry lowered his head. "So I can't go… I'll spend the rest of my life in this dungeon, killing beasts?"

(No, Henry. You can still reach the human settlement once you unlock your Transformation Skill.)

Henry looked up sharply. "Transformation skill? What's that?"

(When activated, it changes you into a creature you choose. You only get one chance to decide.)

"So how do I unlock it?"

(When the time comes, the system will present it as a quest reward.)

Henry muttered, "Time…" His gaze drifted to the lifeless human bodies scattered across the floor. Then just a few inches from one corpse something caught his eye: a small, recessed switch on the wall.

"What's that?" He stepped closer, fingertips brushing the cold stone. "Could this be another hidden weapon stash? Maybe a rifle this time…"

The thought was enough to make him press the switch.

The wall beside it groaned and rumbled, shifting upward to reveal a cramped chamber. No other exits just shadows clinging to the corners. Henry's eyes scanned the room, searching for glints of steel or crystal. Instead, he found a man, human huddled in the corner, shivering, head bowed.

Henry took a cautious step forward. "Hello."

The man's head jerked up. His eyes widened at the sight of a goblin holding a bow. "I have to fight for my life" he muttered and stood on his feet with his sword drawn.

"I don't want to hurt you," Henry said quickly, raising a hand in peace. "I want to help. We can leave this dungeon together… I just need you to sell my items. I can't go to the human settlement."

The man's grip tightened. "Strange… how does a goblin speak our tongue?" His voice trembled, but his stance was ready.

Before Henry could explain, the man lunged. Startled, Henry darted out of the small room, back into the larger one.

"You learned our language to trick us," the man shouted, swinging his sword. "You earn trust and then you kill."

Sweat ran down his brow, legs shaking slightly. Henry could see the fear.

"I don't do that!" Henry insisted. "I.."

"Lies!" The man cut him off, rushing forward only for another door to creak open in the small room.

Five orcs stepped through, their greenish skin bare muscles rippling under the dim light. Four carried swords, and the one in the middle wielded two.

The middle orc barked a guttural command, pointing one sword at Henry and the other at the human. Two orcs charged Henry; two went for the human.

Henry aimed and then shoot.

An arrow sank clean into the middle orc's forehead. Its eyes widened in shock before it crumpled to the floor.

The others roared and rushed in. Henry loosed another arrow at the first attacker but it sidestepped. His lips curled into a faint smile.

"You can't dodge this one…" He closed one eye, steadied his aim, and fired.

*Thwip.*

The shaft buried itself deep in the orc's neck. Its head rolled away moments later.

The last orc closed the distance, sword slashing down. Henry rolled aside, came up on one knee, and fired a rock into its skull.

Metal clanged behind him. He turned two orcs were hammering at the human's guard.

Henry drew, released. The arrow struck the back of one orc's head, bursting through its face.

"Damn…" Henry muttered, switching to his slingshot. He loaded two rock, pulled back, and let fly.

The stones cracked against the last orc's temple with a wet thud. It toppled instantly.

The human collapsed to his knees, panting hard. After a long breath, he looked at Henry with a strange mix of relief and disbelief.

"I guess… I don't have a choice but to trust you now," he said weakly. "You just saved my life."

Henry forced himself to remain calm after hearing Emma's question. Internally, however, his mind was working faster than ever before. The battle against the infected Black Bear King had been difficult, but this situation felt far more dangerous. Fighting monsters was simple compared to answering questions from experienced knights. One wrong answer could expose everything. Fortunately, during his run back to the carriage, he had already prepared a story. He had repeated it over and over in his head until it sounded natural enough that even he almost believed it himself."I don't know," Henry replied while pretending to think about it. He glanced toward the forest where the instructors had disappeared moments ago before shrugging slightly. "Maybe they were chasing after something." His answer sounded casual and uncertain, exactly how someone in his situation would respond. The less information he provided voluntarily, the less likely someone would notice inconsistencies. At least, that

  • Chapter 175 Perfect Plan

"The beast is getting away!" Louis shouted at the top of his lungs the moment he realized the goblin had no intention of remaining in the clearing. His voice echoed through the forest as he pointed toward the section of trees where the creature had disappeared. Gareth and Tyler immediately turned in the direction he indicated, but they were already too late. The goblin was nowhere to be seen. Only a few shaking branches remained behind, silently revealing the path the creature had taken moments earlier. The realization immediately frustrated the three instructors because after everything that had happened, they still had no answers regarding the mysterious goblin or the legendary bow in its possession.Without wasting any more time, the three knights charged into the forest. Their boots pounded heavily against the ground while leaves and loose dirt scattered beneath their feet. Each of them pushed their bodies forward at incredible speed, hoping to catch sight of the fleeing goblin be

"I don't care where that monster learned how to do that, but we have to end its life now. It's a huge threat," Louis spoke while tightening his grip around the handle of his sword. His voice carried a seriousness that neither Gareth or Tyler questioned. During all his years as a knight, Louis had encountered creatures capable of extraordinary feats, but never a corrupted bear capable of controlling fog and creating a tornado. Every instinct he possessed was warning him that allowing such a creature to survive would be disastrous. If it escaped into a populated area, the number of casualties it could cause would be unimaginable. The thought alone was enough to strengthen his resolve.Gareth and Tyler silently agreed. Both men stood several meters apart with their weapons already raised and their bodies positioned for combat. The three instructors slowly formed a wide semicircle around the infected bear, making sure it had no obvious route of escape. Their movements were cautious and de

  • Chapter 173 Faraway Enemies

The raging tornado still lingered across the battlefield like a living disaster that refused to die, tearing through the forest with brutal force and uncontrolled mana. Trees were uprooted completely, their massive trunks snapping and twisting before being swallowed by the swirling winds, while rocks and shattered debris circled endlessly like weapons waiting to be released.Louis gritted his teeth as he drove his sword deep into the ground, both hands wrapped tightly around the hilt while his boots slid backward under the pressure of the wind. Even with mana reinforcing his muscles, his entire body trembled violently as he tried to resist the overwhelming force pushing him away from the center of the storm.“Damn it…!” Louis growled through clenched teeth, his voice barely audible over the roaring winds that threatened to tear everything apart in the area.Gareth stood slightly behind him, his hands raised as he maintained a mana barrier that shimmered violently under pressure. • Chapter 172 Massive Tornado

Henry struggled to push himself upright after the latest exchange with the infected Black Bear King. Every movement sent waves of pain through his body, forcing him to grit his teeth just to remain standing. When he finally managed to straighten himself, he immediately noticed blood dripping steadily from the deep wounds across his chest. The bear's claws had cut far deeper than he initially thought. His breathing felt heavier, and his vision briefly blurred when he checked his status window. The sight that greeted him was enough to make his expression darken. Nearly half of his health was gone. For the first time since the battle began, he realized that continuing to fight recklessly could easily get him killed before he ever had a chance to claim the reward."Dammm," Henry muttered while pressing a hand against his injured chest. His voice carried both frustration and annoyance. He had finally found a quest with an incredible reward, only to discover that the enemy guarding it was m

  • Chapter 171 One Powerful Strike

Louis continued watching the battlefield below while the fog slowly thickened between the trees, making the already chaotic scene even harder to read. From his position on the high branch, he could still clearly see the infected Black Bear King and the goblin with the help of the moon light, but every few seconds the mist would rise just enough to blur their movements before thinning again. It was an unnatural rhythm, almost as if the forest itself was breathing around them.Tyler broke the silence again after watching the goblin continue fighting below. The more he observed, the more tempting the opportunity looked. The bear was clearly injured from its earlier clash with the instructors, and now it was focused entirely on the goblin. “We should use this opportunity to finish it,” Tyler said again, his voice lower but more insistent this time. “It’s distracted. If we strike together now, we might actually bring it down before it recovers.” Gareth didn’t respond immediately, instead n
