The mayor's men put up one hell of a chase.

Seven vehicles thundered through the night, weaving through traffic and tearing through intersections as they pursued Darren's sports car.

Several times they almost caught up, only for Darren to press harder on the accelerator and widen the distance again.

The sports car gifted to him by the stranger was simply too damn fast.

Its engine roared like a beast every time Darren stepped on the gas, leaving the pursuing vehicles struggling to keep up.

The next day, Darren realized that he had forgotten an important matter. In fact, it was perhaps even more important than everything he had handled the previous day.Their upcoming case against Joseph Whitmore.Darren had spent the entire previous day dealing with Henry and Club 12, and in the process, he had completely forgotten that the hearing for their case against Joseph was supposed to begin the next day. Worse still, after discovering that Joseph had bought the law chamber that was supposed to handle their case, Darren was now left without lawyers. He needed to find new ones. However, before Darren went out to handle that matter, there was something else he needed to do.He took the two documents he had brought home the previous night and went to a delivery service. Rather than giving them directly to Eddie, Darren anonymously sent the documents to him.If he handed them to Eddie himself, Eddie would naturally ask where he had gotten them. That could eventually lead Eddie to c

  • CHAPTER 429

Derek was stunned by the last news report. He turned to Darren with a shocked expression and asked, “Henry Murphy... isn't that Eddie's uncle? The same man who came here to threaten us and demanded that we hand Eddie over to him this evening?”“Yes, that's him,” Darren replied also claiming to be surprised by the news.Derek's eyes widened. He had seen the man barely eight hours ago, and now the news was already announcing that he was in critical condition after falling from the top floor of a five-story building.“What could have happened to him?” Derek asked.“I don't know,” Darren answered calmly. “But you shouldn't forget how that man lived. He killed his own brother, took over his property, and even wanted to kill his own nephew.”Derek nodded slowly. “Yes, that's true. He lived a despicable life, but that doesn't mean he should end up in this state.”He sighed and looked back at the television. “I pray the man actually tried to commit suicide. But if the police investigation com

  • CHAPTER 428

Without saying anything, Darren grabbed Henry by the back of his collar and began dragging him toward the ceiling-to-floor windows that overlooked the city.Henry's eyes widened when he realized where Darren was taking him. He immediately began struggling and begging. “Darren, please! Don't do this! We can talk about this. We can settle everything like gentlemen!”Darren stopped and looked at him.“I am not a gentleman,” he replied coldly.Henry's face turned pale.Darren grabbed him firmly and looked toward the window. His voice became dangerously cold as he said, “This is for Eddie and Mr. Jordan.”Before Henry could say another word, Darren unceremoniously threw him through the window from the top floor of the five-story building.Henry disappeared from sight. A few seconds later, Darren heard the sound of something dull crashing below.Darren felt no regret for the bastard. After everything Henry had done, this was the least he deserved. He turned his attention to the two sheets

  • CHAPTER 427

Henry prayed inwardly for a miracle. But who was he praying to? He had lived such a wicked life that even the devil would probably not answer his prayers. If not for the small humanly hope still remaining in his heart, it would have been better for Henry to accept the fact that he was doomed. When the elevator reached the top floor, Darren stepped out without saying a word as he continued dragging Henry like a briefcase. He walked straight toward the car Henry had used to bring them to the building. He opened the trunk and threw Henry inside before shutting it.Henry could not even protest. He simply remained inside the trunk, trembling with fear as Darren walked around to the driver's seat. A moment later, the car started moving.Darren drove for about fifteen minutes before finally coming to a stop. He got out of the car, opened the trunk, and pulled Henry out.Henry looked around and immediately recognized the place. His eyes widened. Darren had brought him to the Murphy Group of

  • CHAPTER 426

The 12 became desperate as they began begging Darren for mercy. Some pleaded with him to reconsider, while others tried to explain that they had never personally done anything to him. However, Darren remained unmoved by their words. He had already made his decision, and there was nothing they could say that would change it.That was when Adrian stepped forward. Unlike the others, he did not immediately beg for his life. Instead, he looked at Darren and tried to make an offer. “Darren, you should spare me. I can transfer fifty million dollars to you right now. After all, your family has lost everything, so fifty million dollars should be a very large amount of money for you.”For a moment, Darren stared at him. A smile slowly appeared on his face, and within seconds, the smile turned into a loud guffaw. Adrian looked at him in confusion, but when he realized Darren was laughing, he assumed it was because Darren was happy about his offer. He began laughing as well.“You see?” Adrian s

  • CHAPTER 425

The twelve members of Club 12 stared at Darren as though they were looking at a ghost. Nobody could understand how he had suddenly appeared among them after they had watched him being taken away by eight armed guards. One of the members finally stuttered, “H-How is this possible?”Darren looked at him with an innocent expression.“What is possible?”His teasing tone made the room even more uncomfortable. He gestured toward their chairs and said calmly, “Why are you all standing? Take your seats. I want to be part of the meeting today and hear what you usually discuss during these meetings.”Nobody moved.Adrian was the first to recover from the shock. His face twisted with anger as he turned toward the remaining guards.“What are you waiting for? Kill him!”The guards immediately snapped out of their fear. The confusion on their faces was replaced by murderous intent as they raised their rifles and aimed at Darren. The next second, gunshots erupted throughout the room.Bang!
