RUNES
The tension in the ward was palpable. Everyone's heart beating erratically. The young lady lay on the bed, her breathing steady but her spirit still trapped in the grip of the curse. Ethan stood at her side, his golden eyes glowing faintly as he examined the young lady. The housekeeper, Samantha, and Nico Wharton —the three of them watched him intently, each with their own thoughts and fears. Ethan glanced back at them and broke the silence. “I can remove the curse,” he said, his voice calm but firm. “But it will require carving runes on her body using my blood. It’s the only way to break the curse completely.” This was the method his mother taught him when he was a child and the power of the Dragon blood, he knows every knowledge about it. Upon seeing this, Nico Wharton’s face turned red with anger. He stepped forward, his fists clenched. “You expect us to believe that?” he spat. “This is outrageous! You’re just trying to take advantage of her while she’s vulnerable. I won’t allow it!” “I thought of giving you a chance but you proved to be a shameless doctor. You really take us for a fool! How do you expect us to believe all you said.” The psychic master, who had been standing quietly in the corner, nodded in agreement. “You are very right! This is highly unorthodox, this young man doesn't know anything about being a doctor. He is lying.” he said, his voice dripping with disdain. The physic master thought Ethan only wanted to his credit. “I’ve never heard of such a method. It sounds like nonsense.” Ethan didn’t respond to the words they were saying. He knew them to be nothing but ignorant fools. Instead, he turned his gaze to the housekeeper, his eyes locking onto the older man’s gaze. “If you don't believe me, it's fine!" Ethan simply said, “But if you want to save her, this is the only way.” Matthew the housekeeper hesitated, he was really confused about the matter. He glanced at the young lady, her pale face and still forming a painful reminder of her suffering. Then he looked at the suitor and the psychic master, their anger and skepticism clear. He glanced at Ethan, his face contorted with confusion. He didn't like the young lady's critical condition and wished for her to get hale and healthy. Without giving the young man a chance, how would the lady get treated if he's actually saying the truth? Finally, he took a deep breath and made his decision. “We should give Sir Siegfried a chance to work on her. He might be our last hope, who knows?” The suitor’s eyes widened in shock. “You can’t be serious!” he protested. “You’re going to let this… this miscreant do whatever he wants?” The Psychic master voiced out, “He is a quack. He doesn't know what is doing. You shouldn't believe everything he says!” He protested, his face contorted with rage. Not tolerating them any longer, the housekeeper called. “Where are the securities? Escort these two out of the room immediately.” Nico Wharton’s face blushed in rage and fury, “You must be joking? You are calling the guards on me? Have you forgotten who I am? You will surely regret this!" He spewed out in anger. The housekeeper’s expression hardened. “I trust Sir Siegfried,” he said firmly. “And right now, he’s the only one who has shown any real results. Please leave.” The bodyguards stepped forward, their presence imposing. Reluctantly, the suitor and the psychic master were led out of the ward, their protests fading as the door closed behind them. With the room now clear, Ethan turned his attention to the young lady. He carefully lifted her from the bed and placed her on the operating table. Her hospital gown was cut open, revealing her pale skin. Ethan took a small knife and made a shallow cut on his palm, letting his blood drip into a bowl. He diluted it with water, creating a thin liquid that glowed faintly with a mysterious light. Using his fingers, he began to write runes on her body. Each symbol was intricate and ancient, their meanings known only to him. The runes covered her arms, her chest, her legs—every part of her body was marked with the glowing script. The room was silent, the other two people in the house watched the scene before them in astonishment. As the last rune was completed, the liquid began to seep into her skin, absorbed as if by some unseen force. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, slowly, a black, thick substance began to ooze from her pores. It was thick and foul-smelling, pooling on the table before dropping to the floor. The curse was being expelled, forced out by the power of the runes. The housekeeper and Samantha watched in awe as the black venom drained away. The young lady’s skin, once pale and lifeless, began to regain its natural color. Her breathing, which had been steady but shallow, became deeper and beat at the normal rate. Finally, her eyes fluttered open. She blinked, her gaze unfocused at first but quickly sharpening. She looked around the room, her expression one of confusion and anxiety. “What… what happened?” she asked, her voice weak but clear. “What am I doing here?" Ethan smiled at his successful operation and stepped back, his task complete. “You were cursed,” he said simply. “But you’re safe now.” The young lady sat up slowly, her strength returning with each passing moment. She looked up to Ethan, her eyes filled with gratitude. “Thank you so much,” she said softly. “I don’t know how to repay you.” Ethan smiled broadly and shook his head. “There’s no need for that. All I need from you is to take care of yourself.” The housekeeper stepped forward, his face filled with relief and gratitude. “Sir Siegfried,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion, “You don't know what you've done for us! None of the doctors in the city can save her except for you! The family will always be grateful for your kind gestures. Whatever thing you need, please don't hesitate to inform us!” The young lady nodded in agreement and added. “My family and yours are friends from now on,” she said. “Whatever you need, you only have to ask.” Ethan acknowledged their gratitude with a nod, “I truly appreciate your kind gesture." He turned to the young lady. “Do you know who cursed you?” he asked. The young lady hesitated, her expression lacing with uncertainty. “I… I don’t know,” she said, “I really don't know anything about the curse!" Her words hung in the air, a quiet but ominous reminder that the danger was far from over. Ethan didn’t press her further, but he knew this was only the beginning. The curse had been powerful, and whoever had cast it wouldn’t give up so easily. At that moment, Samantha’s phone began to ring, breaking the silence in the room. She glanced at the screen, her expression tightening. “It’s your wife,” she said, holding the phone out to him. Ethan's jaw clenched. He wondered why his wife was calling him again.

Chapter 66
Ethan's fingers trembled as he gripped its cold, metallic edge on the man's face with all of his power. He had expected resistance—some mechanical lock or invisible force—but this was different. The mask breathed. It pulsed faintly against his touch, like a second skin bound by will, not metal. He was astounded at this revelation, and he wondered how possible this could be. He tried pulling with all his strength again, but he wasn't successful. The mask was like a rock that couldn't be pulled easily from its position. A thrum of dark energy rippled through the air as if something ancient coiled within the villain’s flesh, guarding his identity like a venomous sentinel.“This isn’t just an ordinary mask,” Ethan muttered to himself. “It's something more! Something I can't even explain!" Before he could process it further, Rebecca grabbed his arm and pulled him aside, her grip firm. Her usually composed face was tight with fear and worries. Ethan, fazed by her actions, snatched his

"What are you waiting for? Get out! You don't deserve me anyways, you are just useless!” She spat disparagingly. “Okay then, I hope you don't regret your decision, Celine!" He muttered, his heart heavy with hurt and disappointment. With that, he opened the door and stepped out into the hallway, leaving behind the life he had once known. As soon as Ethan walked out of the office, the secretary approached Celine, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder."Don't worry," he said. "Your future husband will be someone extraordinary. Someone who deserves you. Not garbage like him."Ethan leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Business is business," he said calmly. “Hello, why are you disturbing me, Celine?" His voice tinged with annoyance. On the other end, his wife’s voice was sharp and furious, each word dripping with anger and accusation. “You miscreant, where have you been? I have been trying to reach you but to no avail. Do you switch off your phone because of me? Are you trying to make me angry?” Ethan chuckled at his wife's irate words. He totally forgot he had thrown his phone out of the helicopter earlier. The reason she could get through to him. “I found the woman’s contact information through the helicopter that had taken him away. Who the fuçk is that woman? Why is a helicopter here because of you?” Celine demanded, “I don't think you need to be concerned about that. We are not together anymore, you don't deserve to know anything!” Ethan mumbled. Celine was fuming over the phone, she never expected to speak to her in that manner. “You’re a coward, Ethan,” she spat, her voice trembling with rage. “You can’t even face reality

He had known this man for years, but now he stood before him as an adversary, a representative of his wife's new empire. The sleek, modern office was silent except for the faint hum of the air conditioning. Ethan, a man in his early thirties with sharp features and a calm demeanor, sat behind his mahogany desk. His fingers tapped lightly on the polished surface as he held the phone to his ear. The voice on the other end was tense, almost anxious."How is our deal going?" Ethan asked, his tone steady but laced with authority and power. There was a brief pause before the voice replied, "We agreed before that we would help your wife's company go public, and you would give me what we need, right?"Ethan leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing slightly.
