A SCARY NAME

The leader of the gangsters lay on the ground, his face contorted in pain. His right hand was in total mess, each finger broken by Ethan’s relentless grip.

Ethan stood over him, his golden eyes glowing faintly, his expression cold and unreadable. He had asked the same question over and over, his voice calm but menacing: “Say something.”

The leader groaned, his body trembling as he clutched his ruined hand. “You didn’t ask anything!” he screamed, his voice hoarse with pain and frustration. “What did I say? What do you want from me?”

Ethan tilted his head slightly, his golden eyes narrowing. “Who instructed you to attack me? Who are you working for?” he asked, his voice low and steady.

The leader hesitated, his eyes darting around as if searching for an escape. But there was none. Ethan’s presence was overwhelming, his power undeniable.

Finally, the leader broke, his voice trembling as he spoke. “It was… it was Xavier Zubimemdi,” he stammered. “The man in the mask. He is the second in command for the Secret XXX organisation’”

The name was long and elaborate, filled with titles and honorifics that seemed to stretch on forever. It was a name that carried weight, a name that inspired fear and respect in equal measure.

As soon as the leader uttered it, Rebecca Grant’s face paled, her eyes widening in shock and fear.

Ethan noticed her reaction immediately. He turned to her, his golden eyes softening slightly. “What did he say? Who is he talking about?” he asked, his voice gentle but demanding

The lady hesitated, her lips pressed into a thin line. “It is a name,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.

Ethan frowned. “He seemed to have said a lot more than just a name.”

The lady shook her head, her expression conflicted. “That is the person's name —It’s Spanish and that's the title he held in this country.” she said in a hurry. “But it’s not important. You don’t need to get involved in this.” Rebecca waved her hand off, trying to convince him the man wasn't important.

Ethan studied her for a moment, his gaze piercing. He could see the fear in her eyes, the way she was trying to protect him from whatever danger the name represented. But he also knew that he was already involved, whether she wanted him to be or not.

“This isn’t just about you,” he said quietly. “Whatever this is, it’s already tied to me. I can’t walk away now.”

The lady looked at him, her eyes filled with a mix of gratitude and worry. She took a deep breath, then nodded.

“Xavier Zubimendi belongs to the chairman of a recently emerging business giant. He’s not someone to be toyed with.”

Ethan’s expression didn’t change, but his eyes glowed brighter, keenly interested in the strange man. “Tell me more about him,” he said.

The lady hesitated, then began to explain. “This man is very mysterious. In a short period of time, he acquired a large number of companies and became an undisputed business giant in the local area. But no one knows who he really is. Every time he appears in public, he wears a mask. No one has seen his face.”

Ethan listened intently, his mind racing. A mysterious businessman who operated from the shadows, wearing a mask to hide his identity.

It was clear that this man was dangerous. And now, for reasons unknown to him, he had targeted the young lady—and by extension, Ethan himself.

“Do you know why he’s after you?” Ethan asked, his voice low.

The lady shook her head. “I don’t know,” she admitted. “But I do know that he’s hosting a dinner party tonight. As the spokesperson for the Grant family, I have an invitation. If you come with me, you might be able to find out more about him—maybe even uncover his true identity.”

Ethan considered her words. It was a risky move, attending a party hosted by a man who clearly had no problem about using violence to achieve his goals. But it was also an opportunity—a chance to confront the man behind the mask and put an end to the danger once and for all.

“Alright,” he said finally. “I’ll go with you. But we need to be careful. This man is very dangerous, and he’s not going to make it easy for us.”

They both walked back into the already-damaged car, and drove out of the vicinity, leaving the injured gangsters growing in pain.

On the other end, his wife’s voice was sharp and furious, each word dripping with anger and accusation. “You miscreant, where have you been? I have been trying to reach you but to no avail. Do you switch off your phone because of me? Are you trying to make me angry?” Ethan chuckled at his wife's irate words. He totally forgot he had thrown his phone out of the helicopter earlier. The reason she could get through to him. “I found the woman’s contact information through the helicopter that had taken him away. Who the fuçk is that woman? Why is a helicopter here because of you?” Celine demanded, “I don't think you need to be concerned about that. We are not together anymore, you don't deserve to know anything!” Ethan mumbled. Celine was fuming over the phone, she never expected to speak to her in that manner. “You’re a coward, Ethan,” she spat, her voice trembling with rage. “You can’t even face reality. You attacked my mother and brother, and then you ran away like a shameful ch

He had known this man for years, but now he stood before him as an adversary, a representative of his wife's new empire. The sleek, modern office was silent except for the faint hum of the air conditioning. Ethan, a man in his early thirties with sharp features and a calm demeanor, sat behind his mahogany desk. His fingers tapped lightly on the polished surface as he held the phone to his ear. The voice on the other end was tense, almost anxious."How is our deal going?" Ethan asked, his tone steady but laced with authority and power. There was a brief pause before the voice replied, "We agreed before that we would help your wife's company go public, and you would give me what we need, right?"Ethan leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing slightly.
