Liu Yang snorted. What Yung Yin had said was nothing short of an insult to him.

“Brother, step aside. Let me handle this serpent woman!” Lu Lian declared with strong conviction.

“Are you sure?” Liu Yang looked worried that his wife would have to fight Yung Yin.

“Don’t worry, Brother. Nothing will happen to me. If you also wish to fight, then take on her three disciples instead!” Lu Lian replied, casting her gaze toward Yung Yin’s three students.

Liu Yang raised his eyebrows and smiled. “They’re all quite beautiful. It would be a shame to kill them. I’ll just scar their faces so they’ll live in unbearable shame!”

Sekar, Martha, and the other girl snorted after hearing the man’s threat. They exchanged glances and nodded together.

On the other side, Yung Yin burst into loud laughter at Lu Lian’s courage to challenge her to a one-on-one fight.

“It will be easier for me to kill you, Lu Lian! Back then, I forgave you because we were both from the dark sect, but I will not repeat that mistake. Today is the last day you’ll breathe fresh air!”

With that, Yung Yin walked away toward a more spacious area to fight.

Unwilling to let her rival’s words go unanswered, Liu Yang’s wife hurriedly followed.

Meanwhile, Xiao Chen urged Benggala to step back a little. He had no intention of leaving the place just yet. He wanted to witness this battle between members of the dark sect—he believed there was much he could learn from it.

Besides, he also needed to meditate to recover his nearly depleted inner strength.

About forty meters away from the original spot, Lu Lian and Yung Yin now stood face to face. Their eyes locked sharply—especially Lu Lian’s, filled with the desire to avenge her past defeat.

Lu Lian took the initiative to strike first. She unleashed a long-range poisonous attack toward Yung Yin. The attack took the form of golden petals made of a metallic substance.

But instead of dodging, Yung Yin allowed the petals to pierce her skin without resistance.

Lu Lian was shocked. The frown on her face showed her disbelief in what she had just seen.

“Impossible! Why didn’t my attack have any effect on her?” she muttered softly.

“Why so surprised, Lu Lian? Did you really think your precious petals would affect me? Have you forgotten that poisonous weapons only work against those who are not poison users themselves?” Yung Yin mocked while playing with the dark green cloth tied around her waist.

Lu Lian took a slight step back as Yung Yin advanced two steps forward. She realized she might have made a mistake in daring to face the woman known as the Heavenly Serpent of Poison.

But it was too late. Retreating was never an option—especially in a duel against a fellow dark sect warrior.

Meanwhile, Liu Yang was already surrounded by Yung Yin’s three disciples. Though more experienced, he could not easily overcome the three young women, who were still relatively new to the martial world.

Their combined attacks were still manageable for him, but they had the advantage of positioning, constantly pressing him down.

Even so, Liu Yang continued to smile despite being cornered. Whatever plan he had in mind remained unclear, but the three young women kept attacking relentlessly, caring little about what might happen next.

“Martha, Xie Lan, Heavenly Poison Spiral Formation!” shouted Sekar, taking command. Though the newest among Yung Yin’s disciples, the thick-browed, faint-mustached girl quickly won her master’s favor with her intelligence.

The three girls moved swiftly, circling around Liu Yang. At the same time, they scattered black powder laced with poison.

Gradually, the black powder spun along with their movements, forming a vortex of poison.

Liu Yang was fully aware of the toxic nature of the powder, yet he deliberately allowed it to envelop him, as he had a plan that would soon turn the tide and defeat the three girls at once.

From a distance, Xiao Chen kept his focus on the battle between the three disciples and Liu Yang. The duel between Yung Yin and Lu Lian had already lost its appeal.

From his observation, the woman wielding the snake-headed staff already held a decisive advantage, pressing her opponent hard. If Lu Lian could not turn the tables soon, death was only a matter of time.

Meanwhile, Benggala seemed uninterested in the ongoing battle. The wolf chose instead to nap, knowing his duty was over now that Xiao Chen had finished meditating to restore his inner strength.

Suddenly, Xiao Chen narrowed his eyes—he sensed something unusual within the swirling black vortex. His instincts warned him that the three girls were in grave danger.

His heart urged him to rush to their aid, but his mind resisted. After all, the girls were disciples of the snake-staff woman who intended to seize his sword.

And indeed, the black vortex abruptly dispersed, scattered away by the wind. At the same time, the three girls were thrown back by the pressure unleashed by Liu Yang.

Seeing this, Xiao Chen leaped from the rock he was sitting on and darted forward to help. In that moment, he no longer considered them enemies—because clearly, they needed his help.

Sekar struggled to stand, pressing her chest with her palm as she gasped for breath.

Martha, too, had been thrown against a tree. Fortunately, she had managed to use her inner strength to shield herself from more severe injuries. The pale-skinned, long-haired girl winced in pain as she forced herself to rise.

The worst fate befell the third girl. She lost her life when her body crashed into a massive boulder, shattering it and being buried beneath its weight.

Xiao Chen went to Sekar first. He helped the sweet-faced girl to her feet.

“How are you?”

“I can still endure,” she answered, staring intently at Xiao Chen’s face. Her heart pounded wildly when their eyes met.

The handsome young man gave her a gentle smile, then turned to glance at Martha, who was about fifteen meters away.

“Go help your friend over there. I’ll handle him.”

Sekar nodded, puzzled. Why would this young man help them, when their master clearly harbored ill intentions toward him?

  • The Horseman in the Darkness

When Xiao Chen mentioned Liu Zun’s name, some of the villagers disagreed. One of them even voiced his objection directly to him."Why should Liu Zun be the leader of this village?" asked a man who appeared to be around sixty years old.Xiao Chen looked at the man and smiled faintly. "Let me ask you this, Uncle—did I ever say the people of this village must choose Liu Zun as the village chief?"The man fell silent and simply shook his head."I only gave a suggestion, didn’t I?" Xiao Chen pressed. This time, there was no nod, no reply—only silence."I know very well the nature of the people in this village. Some look kind but hide corruption within their hearts. Others are genuinely good and sincere in their deeds. All of this is etched clearly in my memory," Xiao Chen added, deliberately hinting at the man before him.He then waved for Sekar to come closer."From now on, I will no longer interfere with this village’s affairs. Choose for yourselves a leader whom you think is worthy to l

  • Suggestion

"We have nothing to do with the two of you, so we will still leave this place!" said one of the six members of the Devil’s Sickle group."You may not have anything to do with me directly, but your four leaders brutally murdered my father. So in this matter, you will still be held accountable!" Xiao Chen replied with a firm and pressing tone. The six men dressed in red certainly did not share Xiao Chen’s perspective. They believed their only task was to protect Lu Feng from the villagers, not from outsiders. But today, reality forced them to face the bitter truth. Fighting against the young pair of warriors was not a choice they could take if they wanted to save their lives."Sekar, finish them!" Xiao Chen shouted without even glancing at the beautiful girl.Hearing Xiao Chen’s command, the six members of the Devil’s Sickle were startled. But they still thought it would be easier to deal with the girl than the young man. They planned to use this opportunity to their advantage. One by o

  • Massacre

Xiao Chen could see the fear in the man’s eyes, even though his mouth barked loudly in defiance. A faint smile curved on his lips.“I already told you—anyone who dares protect that savage, Lu Feng, will also die by my hands. This is my final offer: leave now, or die.” His body trembled slightly as he spoke. Unlike the many battles he had fought before, this one felt different—his fury was rooted in vengeance for his parents’ deaths.Suddenly, Lu Feng reappeared from inside his house. “Do not be afraid! He is only bluffing! If you kill him, I will give thirty gold coins to each of you who survives!”The guards, who a moment ago had considered fleeing, instantly changed their minds. Thirty gold coins were equal to ten weeks of wages—an irresistible sum.“You will be the last to die, you vile man!” Xiao Chen shouted, pointing at Lu Feng with burning eyes full of hatred. “Because of you, my parents are dead. Because of your treachery, I was cast out of this village. But in truth, I am gra

  • Revenge

Although some villagers were glad to hear it, others still felt pessimistic about Xiao Chen’s promise. They did not believe the young man could defeat the dozens of warriors hired by Lu Feng to guard him. Defeating Lu Han and his three companions was one thing, but overcoming Lu Feng’s guards was another matter entirely.“You’d better forget your intention, Xiao Chen. It’s not that we don’t appreciate your willingness to help this village, but let us bear the suffering caused by Lu Feng alone. You should leave and never return here,” said a middle-aged woman.“Aunt Ren Ying, in the past you were always kind and often helped my struggling family. I believe it is now my turn to repay the kindness you once showed. Trust me, the two of us will be fine.”Xiao Chen stepped closer to the slightly plump woman. He still remembered well how Ren Ying had often helped his family, giving them food or lending money without interest. After shaking hands with her, Xiao Chen invited Sekar to follow hi

  • Help for the Villagers

To avoid being noticed by Lu Han and his three friends, Xiao Chen walked with his head lowered, never once lifting his face. He still didn’t want to deal with Lu Han, because his true purpose in returning to Qincheng village was Lu Feng.Xiao Chen was not the center of attention for Lu Han’s three companions. Instead, it was Sekar, whose beauty was a perfect blend of sweetness and charm. Those three young men, known for their fondness for women, could not resist their desire when they saw a beautiful stranger entering their village. Meanwhile, Lu Han was still busy joking and wrapping his arms around the girl beside him.“Who is that girl? Why have we never seen her before?” asked one of Lu Han’s friends curiously, his eyes still fixed on Sekar.“Wait, isn’t that Xiao Chen, the loser who was once driven out of this village?” guessed another one of Lu Han’s friends.Hearing his companions’ words, Lu Han immediately turned his gaze toward Xiao Chen and Sekar, who were walking in the opp

  • Return to Qincheng Village

Seeing Martha’s unblinking gaze fixed on Xiao Chen and Li Lan as they departed, Zhang Wei realized something had been hidden in his disciple’s heart. More so when he noticed a glistening tear roll down the corner of her beautiful eye.“You like Xiao Chen, don’t you?”Martha quickly wiped away her tear before turning to Zhang Wei. She shook her head in denial.“You can’t lie to me, Martha. Your eyes are different today.”Martha nodded at last. “Both Li Lan and I like Xiao Chen, Master. But he doesn’t react at all when either of us tries to get closer to him.”Zhang Wei smiled faintly, reminded of his late wife, who had passed away even before he retired from the martial world.“If you are truly destined for him, you will meet again. But honestly, I pray that the three of you may one day be united in marriage. Xiao Chen is a responsible young man. It wouldn’t be a problem if you both became his wives.”“It feels difficult to share one’s heart, Master. But if that is truly fate, I will l
