While watching the course of the battle, the old woman spoke again to Sekar and Martha,

“You two still haven’t answered my question. Why is that young man’s opponent now only one?”

“One of them was killed by the young man, and the other two fled. Now only that old man remains. But I don’t think he can last much longer, Master,” Sekar replied.

“Your observation is sharp, Sekar. Even though you’ve only been my disciple for three weeks, you’ve already learned much,” answered the old woman dressed in light green, her gaze still fixed on the ongoing fight.

Sekar’s observation was indeed correct. Song Im was truly being pushed back. The combination of Xiao Chen’s Blind Wolf Fury technique with his swordplay made it difficult for the old man to even defend himself.

Xiao Chen’s unpredictable movements finally left deep claw marks across Song Im’s back. This was followed by a sword slash aimed directly at the back of the old man’s neck—ending not only his resistance but also his life.

There were no curses or screams of pain from Song Im’s mouth, for his head had already been severed from his body.

Sekar shuddered in horror at Xiao Chen’s ruthlessness. Yet, strangely, she felt no urge to oppose him even if her teacher commanded it. Not out of fear—but because of something else.

Without realizing it, a feeling began to bloom in her heart toward the young man she was watching from afar. One could call it nothing less than love at first sight.

“Let’s go over there!” the old woman said to her three disciples.

“Yes, Master,” the three beautiful young women answered in unison.

Meanwhile, Xiao Chen knelt down, using his sword as support to keep himself from collapsing. He felt his inner energy had almost completely drained, leaving him weak and powerless.

His dazed eyes fixed on Song Im’s headless body. In just a single day, three lives had been taken by his hand.

“I’m no God of Death, so why must I keep taking lives?” he muttered softly.

“You need not regret killing others. What you should regret is crossing paths with me—for soon, I will take the role of the God of Death and claim your life!”

Xiao Chen turned his head at the sound of a woman’s voice behind him.

“If you also desire this sword, then you’ve mistaken your target. This isn’t the sacred weapon you’ve all been hunting,” he said, upon seeing the old woman accompanied by three equally beautiful young girls.

“Hahahaha! Do you think I’ll believe such words? I saw you kill three martial artists myself. All three of them were after that sword you carry!” the old woman replied gleefully. Without lifting a finger, she believed she had already found the legendary weapon countless warriors sought.

Xiao Chen rose to his feet with the last of his strength.

“If you truly want this sword, then you’ll have to step over my corpse first!”

“With pleasure, young man. Such a pity, though—I must kill you for daring to oppose me. Had you surrendered and handed me the sword peacefully, I would have arranged your marriage with one of my disciples.”

Xiao Chen’s gaze first fell upon Sekar. At that very moment, she too was staring at him, their eyes meeting and clashing silently. He quickly averted his gaze, refusing to look at the other two girls.

“I will still choose to protect this sword!” Xiao Chen declared firmly, though his voice was weak.

The old woman said nothing. Nor did she take even a single step forward. Her eyes widened as they locked on something behind the young man she intended to kill.

Sekar, Martha, and the other girl were struck speechless as well. Their bodies stiffened, cold sweat pouring down. Fear suddenly consumed them—for behind the young man, they saw a colossal wolf.

“Master, what should we do?” Martha asked timidly, gathering her courage.

“That doesn’t look like an ordinary wolf. Its size is far too unusual. Let it devour the boy, and then we’ll take the sword,” the old woman whispered.

Xiao Chen wondered why she hadn’t attacked him yet. But when he heard the familiar snort behind him, a smile spread across his face. He finally understood—the old woman hesitated because Benggala stood behind him.

“Benggala, come!” he called, turning around.

The old woman and her disciples stared, unblinking, as the massive wolf obediently approached the young man. Its four steps halted beside Xiao Chen.

“Sit!” Xiao Chen stroked the back of Benggala’s head gently.

The great wolf obeyed, lowering itself and rubbing its fur affectionately against Xiao Chen’s legs.

“Now, you may choose—do you still want this sword and risk facing Benggala, or abandon your desire and leave this sacred place? If my inner strength weren’t depleted, I would gladly accept your challenge.”

The old woman in light green tried to think rationally. If she had to face that wolf, the odds of victory were impossible to determine.

“Master, we should choose the second option. I’m certain that wolf isn’t ordinary—it must be the guardian of this place,” Sekar suggested, her words echoed by nods from her two companions.

“I agree, Master,” Martha added, reinforcing Sekar’s suggestion.

But before the old woman could respond, a familiar woman’s voice rang out from behind them.

“Hahaha! I didn’t expect Yung Yin to also be after the sacred sword that boy carries! Is your poisonous staff no longer strong enough to be your weapon of choice?”

“What are you two doing here? Have you finally come prepared to face me?” Yung Yin retorted, turning around to see her old enemies standing behind her three disciples.

“You still cling to what happened fifteen years ago? Perhaps you’ve forgotten that every martial artist grows stronger over time—including us. And it just so happens you’re here, so this is the perfect chance for us to take our revenge!” answered Liu Yang.

“You’re still as noisy as ever, Liu Yang. Tell me, are you a man or a woman?” Yung Yin sneered before shifting her gaze back to Xiao Chen.

“I’ll deal with you later. For now, I need to crush these two first!” she continued.

Xiao Chen chuckled softly at Yung Yin’s words. Quickly, he realized—if they started fighting, it would buy him the time he needed to recover his inner strength.

  • The Horseman in the Darkness

When Xiao Chen mentioned Liu Zun’s name, some of the villagers disagreed. One of them even voiced his objection directly to him."Why should Liu Zun be the leader of this village?" asked a man who appeared to be around sixty years old.Xiao Chen looked at the man and smiled faintly. "Let me ask you this, Uncle—did I ever say the people of this village must choose Liu Zun as the village chief?"The man fell silent and simply shook his head."I only gave a suggestion, didn’t I?" Xiao Chen pressed. This time, there was no nod, no reply—only silence."I know very well the nature of the people in this village. Some look kind but hide corruption within their hearts. Others are genuinely good and sincere in their deeds. All of this is etched clearly in my memory," Xiao Chen added, deliberately hinting at the man before him.He then waved for Sekar to come closer."From now on, I will no longer interfere with this village’s affairs. Choose for yourselves a leader whom you think is worthy to l

  • Suggestion

"We have nothing to do with the two of you, so we will still leave this place!" said one of the six members of the Devil’s Sickle group."You may not have anything to do with me directly, but your four leaders brutally murdered my father. So in this matter, you will still be held accountable!" Xiao Chen replied with a firm and pressing tone. The six men dressed in red certainly did not share Xiao Chen’s perspective. They believed their only task was to protect Lu Feng from the villagers, not from outsiders. But today, reality forced them to face the bitter truth. Fighting against the young pair of warriors was not a choice they could take if they wanted to save their lives."Sekar, finish them!" Xiao Chen shouted without even glancing at the beautiful girl.Hearing Xiao Chen’s command, the six members of the Devil’s Sickle were startled. But they still thought it would be easier to deal with the girl than the young man. They planned to use this opportunity to their advantage. One by o

  • Massacre

Xiao Chen could see the fear in the man’s eyes, even though his mouth barked loudly in defiance. A faint smile curved on his lips.“I already told you—anyone who dares protect that savage, Lu Feng, will also die by my hands. This is my final offer: leave now, or die.” His body trembled slightly as he spoke. Unlike the many battles he had fought before, this one felt different—his fury was rooted in vengeance for his parents’ deaths.Suddenly, Lu Feng reappeared from inside his house. “Do not be afraid! He is only bluffing! If you kill him, I will give thirty gold coins to each of you who survives!”The guards, who a moment ago had considered fleeing, instantly changed their minds. Thirty gold coins were equal to ten weeks of wages—an irresistible sum.“You will be the last to die, you vile man!” Xiao Chen shouted, pointing at Lu Feng with burning eyes full of hatred. “Because of you, my parents are dead. Because of your treachery, I was cast out of this village. But in truth, I am gra

  • Revenge

Although some villagers were glad to hear it, others still felt pessimistic about Xiao Chen’s promise. They did not believe the young man could defeat the dozens of warriors hired by Lu Feng to guard him. Defeating Lu Han and his three companions was one thing, but overcoming Lu Feng’s guards was another matter entirely.“You’d better forget your intention, Xiao Chen. It’s not that we don’t appreciate your willingness to help this village, but let us bear the suffering caused by Lu Feng alone. You should leave and never return here,” said a middle-aged woman.“Aunt Ren Ying, in the past you were always kind and often helped my struggling family. I believe it is now my turn to repay the kindness you once showed. Trust me, the two of us will be fine.”Xiao Chen stepped closer to the slightly plump woman. He still remembered well how Ren Ying had often helped his family, giving them food or lending money without interest. After shaking hands with her, Xiao Chen invited Sekar to follow hi

  • Help for the Villagers

To avoid being noticed by Lu Han and his three friends, Xiao Chen walked with his head lowered, never once lifting his face. He still didn’t want to deal with Lu Han, because his true purpose in returning to Qincheng village was Lu Feng.Xiao Chen was not the center of attention for Lu Han’s three companions. Instead, it was Sekar, whose beauty was a perfect blend of sweetness and charm. Those three young men, known for their fondness for women, could not resist their desire when they saw a beautiful stranger entering their village. Meanwhile, Lu Han was still busy joking and wrapping his arms around the girl beside him.“Who is that girl? Why have we never seen her before?” asked one of Lu Han’s friends curiously, his eyes still fixed on Sekar.“Wait, isn’t that Xiao Chen, the loser who was once driven out of this village?” guessed another one of Lu Han’s friends.Hearing his companions’ words, Lu Han immediately turned his gaze toward Xiao Chen and Sekar, who were walking in the opp

  • Return to Qincheng Village

Seeing Martha’s unblinking gaze fixed on Xiao Chen and Li Lan as they departed, Zhang Wei realized something had been hidden in his disciple’s heart. More so when he noticed a glistening tear roll down the corner of her beautiful eye.“You like Xiao Chen, don’t you?”Martha quickly wiped away her tear before turning to Zhang Wei. She shook her head in denial.“You can’t lie to me, Martha. Your eyes are different today.”Martha nodded at last. “Both Li Lan and I like Xiao Chen, Master. But he doesn’t react at all when either of us tries to get closer to him.”Zhang Wei smiled faintly, reminded of his late wife, who had passed away even before he retired from the martial world.“If you are truly destined for him, you will meet again. But honestly, I pray that the three of you may one day be united in marriage. Xiao Chen is a responsible young man. It wouldn’t be a problem if you both became his wives.”“It feels difficult to share one’s heart, Master. But if that is truly fate, I will l
