The twenty-year-old youth smiled broadly upon seeing the arrival of his master as well as his adoptive grandfather.

Meanwhile, Yung Yin, who had no idea about Zhang Wei’s true identity, sneered.

“Don’t joke with me, old man! Look at your frail body—you can barely carry yourself, and you dare say you’ll fight me?” she mocked.

Zhang Wei merely smiled at Yung Yin’s insult. The old man then approached Xiao Chen and said,

“Do you want to silence that filthy mouth of hers?”

Xiao Chen furrowed his brows.

“How can I possibly do that when my body is poisoned like this, Grandfather?”

“That’s nothing but a low-grade poison, Xiao Chen. The same kind of poison that snake woman uses. You won’t die from such a pathetic toxin,” Zhang Wei replied, then placed his hand on his disciple’s shoulder.

In less than three seconds, a thin, blackish smoke seeped out from the back of the old man’s hand.

“I’ve drawn the poison out and given you the antidote. Now you can fight her without fear of her venom.”

“That’s it?” Xiao Chen couldn’t believe the poison in his body had been neutralized so quickly.

Li Lan and Martha, disciples of Yung Yin, were equally shocked. They began to compare their master’s strength to that of the old man, realizing he was far beyond her.

Yung Yin herself knew very well that Liu Yang’s poison had truly been removed from the young man’s body, yet she did her best to suppress her shock, not wanting her fear to show.

Deep inside, the snake-staff-wielding woman knew she was no match for the old man. To cure poison with just a touch—he was no ordinary person. Even she needed a long process to purge toxins from her body.

“Grandfather, take these two girls away! I’ll teach this snake woman a lesson!” Xiao Chen said with full confidence.

“Don’t kill her right away. Let her first taste the humiliation of being defeated by a youth,” Zhang Wei replied with a soft chuckle.

“Don’t worry, Grandfather. I know what to do.” Xiao Chen smiled, his sharp gaze fixed on Yung Yin.

“Come on, let’s go,” Zhang Wei said as he led Li Lan and Martha toward the place where Benggala was sleeping.

“Now, snake woman, let’s fight! I can’t wait to shatter your bones!” Xiao Chen challenged after Zhang Wei walked away with Li Lan and Martha.

“I’ll fight you if you promise not to involve that old man!” Yung Yin retorted. She knew she had no chance of survival against Zhang Wei, but against the young man, she still had hope.

“Hehehe… You’re in no position to bargain here, wrinkled hag! Are you afraid of my master? Weren’t you mocking him earlier? Why so frightened now?” Xiao Chen taunted.

“Enough talk, boy! If you accept my condition, I’ll fight you. If not, I’ll leave this place!” Yung Yin snapped.

“Hehehe… Fine then. I alone am enough to shut your big mouth. There’s no need for my master to act!”

Yung Yin’s energy surged out from every pore of her body. Her snake-headed staff trembled violently as her aura grew stronger.

“You’ve underestimated me, boy! I’ll show you that I’m not someone you can handle!”

“Hehehe… That’s just your wishful thinking, Yung Yin. I never underestimate my opponents. I simply know I can kill you,” Xiao Chen grinned.

“That alone means you underestimate me, you wretch!” Yung Yin’s voice rose sharply. The veins in her wrinkled neck bulged, showing how much force she put into her words.

With a single stomp of her right foot, the old woman’s body shot toward Xiao Chen, the snake-headed tip of her staff leading the charge.

The air roared as Yung Yin’s figure cut through the wind. Her fierce strike whistled, its sharp sound pressing on the ears.

Xiao Chen remained vigilant, never taking his eyes off her movements.

He knew well that the old woman’s strength could not be underestimated. Every missed strike whistled so strongly that it revealed the immense inner force behind it.

He managed to evade more than a dozen slashes and thrusts with ease. However, as time passed, Yung Yin’s movements grew faster and faster. Finally, Xiao Chen drew his sword to parry her powerful blows. He knew it was impossible to fight her barehanded and only dodge.

Yung Yin leapt back several steps after her attack was parried. She could feel the powerful energy radiating from the blade in Xiao Chen’s hand, cloaked in a pulsating black aura.

A deep frown formed on her wrinkled forehead. At the same time, her desire for that sword burned even stronger.

“Remember your oath as a warrior—if you lose, you must surrender that sword to me!”

Xiao Chen only smiled at her words. He knew all too well that dark sect warriors rarely kept their promises. Yet he himself had no intention of breaking his word. From childhood, his parents had taught him that a promise was sacred—an oath must always be honored.

“Stop talking, snake woman! Save your words for the Underworld God when I send your soul there!” Xiao Chen mocked.

Yung Yin’s fury flared beyond her limits. The insults from the boy before her had drawn out her greatest rage. Yet even so, she dared not act recklessly. She admitted that in terms of strength, her weapon was no match for the black-bladed sword in his hands.

But her lust for that sword was overwhelming. She had to find a way to claim it and take it far away from here.

The snake-woman warrior twirled her staff repeatedly, releasing thick black mist that gradually grew denser, until it formed into a massive serpent swirling above her head.

Xiao Chen narrowed his eyes at the black serpent and steadied his stance, focusing on every move Yung Yin made. From what he had learned from Zhang Wei, he knew the black mist carried deadly poison. He had to defeat her quickly before the venomous aura could harm him.

In the blink of an eye, the two warriors—opposite in both path and gender—lunged forward at the same time. Yung Yin leapt high, gracefully spinning her staff twice before unleashing a fierce strike aimed at Xiao Chen’s head.

  • The Horseman in the Darkness

When Xiao Chen mentioned Liu Zun’s name, some of the villagers disagreed. One of them even voiced his objection directly to him."Why should Liu Zun be the leader of this village?" asked a man who appeared to be around sixty years old.Xiao Chen looked at the man and smiled faintly. "Let me ask you this, Uncle—did I ever say the people of this village must choose Liu Zun as the village chief?"The man fell silent and simply shook his head."I only gave a suggestion, didn’t I?" Xiao Chen pressed. This time, there was no nod, no reply—only silence."I know very well the nature of the people in this village. Some look kind but hide corruption within their hearts. Others are genuinely good and sincere in their deeds. All of this is etched clearly in my memory," Xiao Chen added, deliberately hinting at the man before him.He then waved for Sekar to come closer."From now on, I will no longer interfere with this village’s affairs. "We have nothing to do with the two of you, so we will still leave this place!" said one of the six members of the Devil’s Sickle group."You may not have anything to do with me directly, but your four leaders brutally murdered my father. So in this matter, you will still be held accountable!" Xiao Chen replied with a firm and pressing tone. The six men dressed in red certainly did not share Xiao Chen’s perspective. They believed their only task was to protect Lu Feng from the villagers, not from outsiders. But today, reality forced them to face the bitter truth. Fighting against the young pair of warriors was not a choice they could take if they wanted to save their lives."Sekar, finish them!" Xiao Chen shouted without even glancing at the beautiful girl.Hearing Xiao Chen’s command, the six members of the Devil’s Sickle were startled. But they still thought it would be easier to deal with the girl than the young man. They planned to use this opportunity to their advantage. One by o

  • Massacre

Xiao Chen could see the fear in the man’s eyes, even though his mouth barked loudly in defiance. A faint smile curved on his lips.“I already told you—anyone who dares protect that savage, Lu Feng, will also die by my hands. This is my final offer: leave now, or die.” His body trembled slightly as he spoke. Unlike the many battles he had fought before, this one felt different—his fury was rooted in vengeance for his parents’ deaths.Suddenly, Lu Feng reappeared from inside his house. “Do not be afraid! He is only bluffing! If you kill him, I will give thirty gold coins to each of you who survives!”The guards, who a moment ago had considered fleeing, instantly changed their minds. Thirty gold coins were equal to ten weeks of wages—an irresistible sum.“You will be the last to die, you vile man!” Xiao Chen shouted, pointing at Lu Feng with burning eyes full of hatred. “Because of you, my parents are dead. Because of your treachery, I was cast out of this village. But in truth, I am gra

  • Revenge

Although some villagers were glad to hear it, others still felt pessimistic about Xiao Chen’s promise. They did not believe the young man could defeat the dozens of warriors hired by Lu Feng to guard him. Defeating Lu Han and his three companions was one thing, but overcoming Lu Feng’s guards was another matter entirely.“You’d better forget your intention, Xiao Chen. It’s not that we don’t appreciate your willingness to help this village, but let us bear the suffering caused by Lu Feng alone. You should leave and never return here,” said a middle-aged woman.“Aunt Ren Ying, in the past you were always kind and often helped my struggling family. I believe it is now my turn to repay the kindness you once showed. Trust me, the two of us will be fine.”Xiao Chen stepped closer to the slightly plump woman. He still remembered well how Ren Ying had often helped his family, giving them food or lending money without interest. After shaking hands with her, Xiao Chen invited Sekar to follow hi

  • Help for the Villagers

To avoid being noticed by Lu Han and his three friends, Xiao Chen walked with his head lowered, never once lifting his face. He still didn’t want to deal with Lu Han, because his true purpose in returning to Qincheng village was Lu Feng.Xiao Chen was not the center of attention for Lu Han’s three companions. Instead, it was Sekar, whose beauty was a perfect blend of sweetness and charm. Those three young men, known for their fondness for women, could not resist their desire when they saw a beautiful stranger entering their village. Meanwhile, Lu Han was still busy joking and wrapping his arms around the girl beside him.“Who is that girl? Why have we never seen her before?” asked one of Lu Han’s friends curiously, his eyes still fixed on Sekar.“Wait, isn’t that Xiao Chen, the loser who was once driven out of this village?” guessed another one of Lu Han’s friends.Hearing his companions’ words, Lu Han immediately turned his gaze toward Xiao Chen and Sekar, who were walking in the opp

  • Return to Qincheng Village

Seeing Martha’s unblinking gaze fixed on Xiao Chen and Li Lan as they departed, Zhang Wei realized something had been hidden in his disciple’s heart. More so when he noticed a glistening tear roll down the corner of her beautiful eye.“You like Xiao Chen, don’t you?”Martha quickly wiped away her tear before turning to Zhang Wei. She shook her head in denial.“You can’t lie to me, Martha. Your eyes are different today.”Martha nodded at last. “Both Li Lan and I like Xiao Chen, Master. But he doesn’t react at all when either of us tries to get closer to him.”Zhang Wei smiled faintly, reminded of his late wife, who had passed away even before he retired from the martial world.“If you are truly destined for him, you will meet again. But honestly, I pray that the three of you may one day be united in marriage. Xiao Chen is a responsible young man. It wouldn’t be a problem if you both became his wives.”“It feels difficult to share one’s heart, Master. But if that is truly fate, I will l
