The man, nearly half a century old, drew all his inner energy and focused it into his hands. His once-clenched fists now formed into claws. Suddenly, a powerful aura burst from his body.

The young man’s forehead furrowed deeply. He took a step back after sensing the surge of energy flowing from Liu Yang.

Just like his opponent, Xiao Chen summoned the power of his Mind and concentrated his inner energy into both hands. For some reason, he believed Liu Yang would unleash the same attack he had once used to destroy the dark vortex of the three girls he had saved.

With a single breath, the two warriors of different generations lunged forward at the same time to launch their strikes.

“Poisonous Blossom Valley!” Liu Yang roared.

Not to be outdone, Xiao Chen unleashed one of his strongest techniques, Demonic Wolf Rampage. He no longer intended to let the man live any longer. The rejection of his earlier offer had changed his mind.

Blaaar!

The clash of two opposing energies erupted. A deafening explosion shook the air, followed by a violent shockwave that sent thick dust billowing upward.

Li Lan and Martha were filled with dread, unable to see what had happened to Liu Yang and the young man who had saved them. Their eyes could not pierce the heavy dust cloud that engulfed the two fighters.

Moments later, the thick dust gradually dispersed, swept away by the fierce wind until nothing remained. Now, Liu Yang could be seen lying on the ground, his chest torn open by Xiao Chen’s claws. Yet the young man himself was far from unharmed; his face had turned bluish, for Liu Yang’s poisonous strike had managed to wound him.

Elsewhere, the battle between Yung Yin and Lu Lian had also ended. Just before the explosion, Yung Yin’s snake-headed staff had pierced through Lu Lian’s stomach, emerging from her back.

The female warrior of the Poisonous Blossom Valley died instantly as her heart burst, followed shortly by the death of her husband. Thus ended the story of a pair of warriors who had long roamed the martial world together.

Xiao Chen felt as if his body were on fire. Still, he stood his ground, forcing the poison to stop spreading within him.

Before Liu Yang’s death, the man had declared that his poison had already taken root inside Xiao Chen’s body and would spread quickly if he moved too much.

Because of that warning, Xiao Chen now stood frozen, not daring to move a single step.

Li Lan and Martha walked toward him, only realizing that Xiao Chen had been poisoned when they stood directly before him.

Before they could even speak, Yung Yin was already beside them.

“Where is Xie Lan? Why is she not with you?”

“She is dead, Master,” Li Lan answered, lowering her head.

Yung Yin’s eyes widened. Her emotions flared, for one of her most beloved disciples had perished.

“Wretched girl! You must avenge my disciple’s death!” she barked, pointing her staff at Xiao Chen.

“It wasn’t him who killed her, Master, but that man,” Li Lan replied, pointing to Liu Yang’s lifeless body. “In fact, he saved both of us. Without him, we would be dead as well.”

Yung Yin hesitated, weighing her options. The young man before her had saved her two disciples, yet he also carried the very sacred weapon she sought.

“Thank you for saving the lives of my disciples. As repayment, I will not kill you,” Yung Yin finally said.

Li Lan and Martha both sighed in relief. They had feared their master might harm the young man who had saved them.

“But you must still hand over that sword!” Yung Yin demanded.

Xiao Chen sneered. “Someone like you knows nothing of gratitude. It seems our fight will not happen today, since I am poisoned. But that doesn’t mean I will simply hand over my sword to you, wicked woman!”

“Hahahaha! How can you even think of resisting, when you can barely move?” Yung Yin mocked.

“If Master wants to kill him, then step over my body first,” Li Lan said, standing in front of Xiao Chen.

“Step over mine as well!” Martha followed suit.

Yung Yin’s fury exploded at the defiance of her disciples. Her gaze sharpened, as if she would flay Li Lan and Martha alive.

“You insolent disciples! How dare you defy me after all I’ve done to raise you into warriors?”

“You don’t need to defend me. I can still protect myself,” Xiao Chen said, glancing at Benggala, who was still sound asleep atop a rock.

“No! You saved both our lives, so we must do the same for you!” Li Lan insisted.

“I’ll give you one last chance—move, or I will kill you both as well!” Yung Yin threatened.

Li Lan and Martha exchanged glances, then nodded together.

“If we must die by our Master’s hand, then so be it. But your threats will not stop us from repaying the one who risked his life to save ours!” Martha said firmly.

“You wretched disciples! So you choose this boy over me? Very well, then I shall kill you all!” Yung Yin roared once more.

“Step aside, both of you! Let me face this wicked woman myself. You are no match for her!” Xiao Chen forced himself forward, stepping in front of Li Lan and Martha.

He thought it was better for him to die than for the two girls he had saved. Thus, he forced his body to adapt to the poison, though he knew moving would only make it spread faster.

“My parents never taught me to be weak. As long as what I do does not stray from the path of righteousness, I will stake my very life on it!”

Xiao Chen’s words struck Li Lan and Martha like a slap. Shame filled their hearts for having followed the misguided path of Yung Yin.

Especially Li Lan. Out of curiosity about the outside world, she had left her grandfather alone and been lured into following Yung Yin. Fortunately, in the three weeks she had been with her, she had never taken a life. Had she already killed an innocent person, her regret would have been unbearable.

“Find an opponent worthy of you, snake woman! If my disciple weren’t poisoned, I would wager he could defeat you!”

Xiao Chen turned when he heard the familiar voice behind him. Li Lan and Martha also turned to see who it was.

  • The Horseman in the Darkness

When Xiao Chen mentioned Liu Zun’s name, some of the villagers disagreed. One of them even voiced his objection directly to him."Why should Liu Zun be the leader of this village?" asked a man who appeared to be around sixty years old.Xiao Chen looked at the man and smiled faintly. "Let me ask you this, Uncle—did I ever say the people of this village must choose Liu Zun as the village chief?"The man fell silent and simply shook his head."I only gave a suggestion, didn’t I?" Xiao Chen pressed. This time, there was no nod, no reply—only silence."I know very well the nature of the people in this village. Some look kind but hide corruption within their hearts. Others are genuinely good and sincere in their deeds. All of this is etched clearly in my memory," Xiao Chen added, deliberately hinting at the man before him.He then waved for Sekar to come closer."From now on, I will no longer interfere with this village’s affairs. Choose for yourselves a leader whom you think is worthy to l

  • Suggestion

"We have nothing to do with the two of you, so we will still leave this place!" said one of the six members of the Devil’s Sickle group."You may not have anything to do with me directly, but your four leaders brutally murdered my father. So in this matter, you will still be held accountable!" Xiao Chen replied with a firm and pressing tone. The six men dressed in red certainly did not share Xiao Chen’s perspective. They believed their only task was to protect Lu Feng from the villagers, not from outsiders. But today, reality forced them to face the bitter truth. Fighting against the young pair of warriors was not a choice they could take if they wanted to save their lives."Sekar, finish them!" Xiao Chen shouted without even glancing at the beautiful girl.Hearing Xiao Chen’s command, the six members of the Devil’s Sickle were startled. But they still thought it would be easier to deal with the girl than the young man. They planned to use this opportunity to their advantage. One by o

  • Massacre

Xiao Chen could see the fear in the man’s eyes, even though his mouth barked loudly in defiance. A faint smile curved on his lips.“I already told you—anyone who dares protect that savage, Lu Feng, will also die by my hands. This is my final offer: leave now, or die.” His body trembled slightly as he spoke. Unlike the many battles he had fought before, this one felt different—his fury was rooted in vengeance for his parents’ deaths.Suddenly, Lu Feng reappeared from inside his house. “Do not be afraid! He is only bluffing! If you kill him, I will give thirty gold coins to each of you who survives!”The guards, who a moment ago had considered fleeing, instantly changed their minds. Thirty gold coins were equal to ten weeks of wages—an irresistible sum.“You will be the last to die, you vile man!” Xiao Chen shouted, pointing at Lu Feng with burning eyes full of hatred. “Because of you, my parents are dead. Because of your treachery, I was cast out of this village. But in truth, I am gra

  • Revenge

Although some villagers were glad to hear it, others still felt pessimistic about Xiao Chen’s promise. They did not believe the young man could defeat the dozens of warriors hired by Lu Feng to guard him. Defeating Lu Han and his three companions was one thing, but overcoming Lu Feng’s guards was another matter entirely.“You’d better forget your intention, Xiao Chen. It’s not that we don’t appreciate your willingness to help this village, but let us bear the suffering caused by Lu Feng alone. You should leave and never return here,” said a middle-aged woman.“Aunt Ren Ying, in the past you were always kind and often helped my struggling family. I believe it is now my turn to repay the kindness you once showed. Trust me, the two of us will be fine.”Xiao Chen stepped closer to the slightly plump woman. He still remembered well how Ren Ying had often helped his family, giving them food or lending money without interest. After shaking hands with her, Xiao Chen invited Sekar to follow hi

  • Help for the Villagers

To avoid being noticed by Lu Han and his three friends, Xiao Chen walked with his head lowered, never once lifting his face. He still didn’t want to deal with Lu Han, because his true purpose in returning to Qincheng village was Lu Feng.Xiao Chen was not the center of attention for Lu Han’s three companions. Instead, it was Sekar, whose beauty was a perfect blend of sweetness and charm. Those three young men, known for their fondness for women, could not resist their desire when they saw a beautiful stranger entering their village. Meanwhile, Lu Han was still busy joking and wrapping his arms around the girl beside him.“Who is that girl? Why have we never seen her before?” asked one of Lu Han’s friends curiously, his eyes still fixed on Sekar.“Wait, isn’t that Xiao Chen, the loser who was once driven out of this village?” guessed another one of Lu Han’s friends.Hearing his companions’ words, Lu Han immediately turned his gaze toward Xiao Chen and Sekar, who were walking in the opp

  • Return to Qincheng Village

Seeing Martha’s unblinking gaze fixed on Xiao Chen and Li Lan as they departed, Zhang Wei realized something had been hidden in his disciple’s heart. More so when he noticed a glistening tear roll down the corner of her beautiful eye.“You like Xiao Chen, don’t you?”Martha quickly wiped away her tear before turning to Zhang Wei. She shook her head in denial.“You can’t lie to me, Martha. Your eyes are different today.”Martha nodded at last. “Both Li Lan and I like Xiao Chen, Master. But he doesn’t react at all when either of us tries to get closer to him.”Zhang Wei smiled faintly, reminded of his late wife, who had passed away even before he retired from the martial world.“If you are truly destined for him, you will meet again. But honestly, I pray that the three of you may one day be united in marriage. Xiao Chen is a responsible young man. It wouldn’t be a problem if you both became his wives.”“It feels difficult to share one’s heart, Master. But if that is truly fate, I will l
