moving on

Chapter: *Moving* *On*

Thomas rubbed his chin in thought, it seems, he was struggling with something within him.

"Fine! I will double your fee, Mr. Thomas. Don't you dare push it!" Hiruzen sighed.

This Thomas has always been a reliable source of Intel for the family for more than a decade now but he had never accepted the multiple offers to be a part of it and the reason was because, Thomas love staying on the sideline, if he joined the Lasso family then he would be forced to interfere in any of their personal matters and this is something, he chose not to do.

But this doesn't stop him from giving out information once in a while, Thomas is one of the most rooted members of the society with expanded influence into the government, sects, families and all. Although, this had incurred the ire of numerous organizations to try and silence him but he has surprisingly survived countless assassinations and ambushes.

"Hahahaha. Since you have put it like that, how can I refuse? The major movers in this is actually the imperial family" Thomas said with a respectful expression.

Countless gasps could be heard in the room, the mention of the imperial family was like a huge bomb being set off.

Hiruzen's expression grew cold and fierce, he balled his fingers into a fist, it was slightly trembling.

"The imperial family? I thought, they are reclusive. Why are they interfering then!" Keeley wondered.

Afterall, given the history of the imperial family, this is one of the very few times, they're openly supporting a government and personally making a move. It was quite unusual to say the least.

"Well, it's very strange and unusual for the imperial family to be making a move. Maybe, they're trying to regain power again and siding with the current government is just the first step and then, you Lassos are a huge mountain in their front and must be exterminated. All of these are just my conjectures. Might not even be close to actual real thing" Thomas beamed a smile, looking very relaxed.

Frankly speaking, these whole squabbles between the government, the Lassos, the imperial family and the people really has nothing much to do with Thomas as far as he retains his relevancy and business.

Thomas has a plan of his own and whatever ruling party that gain power, he will side with them. Or better still, control them.

"This is a much more bigger thing than I thought. Thank you, Thomas, that will be all!" Hiruzen waved his sleeves impatiently.

Thomas smiled very respectively, cupped his fist and bowed, showing the appropriate etiquette of a noble and a fine businessman.

"As you wish sir" Thomas quickly retreated out of the room, a strange glint in this eyes. If anyone knew what was in his mind, they would be in deep shock.

Hiruzen dismissed the other elders in the room as well, they didn't even get the chance to utter a single word throughout this supposed meeting but the information, they had gotten should be enough for them to digest for a long while.

Keeley wrapped her pale skinned hands around Hiruzen and lightly kissed his cheek, a loving look was in her eyes.

"Relax, Husband. It's gonna be fine. The imperial family and the government wants to tear us apart? Hmph, we will show them the true might of the Lasso family" Keeley snorted coldly, venomous hatred clouded her eyes.

......

Several months has passed. And today was the day, Roy and Sharon would be discharged from the hospital.

In a blissful white space, Roy floated in the air with his hand placed behind his back, terrifying undulations of a silver ranker radiated from his body, casually, he wasn't even restraining it.

Roy squinted his eyes and balled his right fingers into a fist, this simple motion caused the air to seemingly exploded and howl in frenzy.

"Finalllyyyy! The feeling of being a top silver ranker again is thrilling. I didn't imagine, I would feel this excited to be back in peak strength" Roy chuckled and vanished from his spot.

In a grassy plain, several shrubs and towering trees dotted the area and stretched into the distance, the towering trees tore into the clouds, giving off an extremely ancient aura.

Roy's figure appeared within the plain, a group of three sat on the grasses, idly chatting and occasionally laughing.

Roy cleared his throat loudly, attracting the attention of the three.

"Roy, you're finally back?!" Sharon stood up and beamed a pleasant smile. She looked akin to a fairy.

"Hahahah, Good to have you back, man. Although you were a step too slow than Sharon and I" Parker's voice sounded out, causing Roy's expression to change slightly and his face to twitch.

"Roy Kent, a pleasure to have you amongst us" Syrie stepped forward and bowed politely.

Roy's figure now looked normal and wasn't like a ghostly apparition of before, he had regained his original appearance, he was garbed a violet robe and a strange insignia was etched on it. And this insignia was also etched on Sharon's black robe and it was occasionally flickering colorful light

It was very obvious, this insignia had something to do with Syrie's clan.

"Since we're all here and outside the village, now we--"Syrie paused and looked solemn. Immediately after, an external invisible sensory barrier erupted from Syrie and sensed the approach of another lifeform.

Parker, Sharon and Roy sensed the change in atmosphere and glanced towards a certain direction, their bodies emitting terrifying undulations of a top silver ranker.

A dark red spot suddenly appeared from thin air, transforming the grassy plain into innumerable streaks. The streaks twisted and warped, revolving to form an irregular sphere.

This sphere suddenly shrank and began to emit terrifying undulations.

Syrie's expression was filled with a hint of dread. Parker and the rest warped into horrifying fear.

"Take cover!!" Syrie cried out in alarm but the expression on his face was immediately replaced with that of unwavering determination and quickly recited a few phrases.

"Rank 1 spell: Arcane mark!"

A massive explosion rumbled out, the entire grassy plain around that area was reduced to smithereens. Parker and the rest were immediately caught up in the explosion even with all their defenses in a frightening shockwave that propelled them halfway into the sky, sent flying violently. It was as if they struck a wall of street
