The three of them glanced at each other while Jack muttered, “Fishing?” Jess and Thad explained about the ship talent as we turned around and headed back to the Merchant’s Guild. Time to make some purchases, and to get ready to set sail.

As Clark saw the six of us coming back in he smiled with a teasing expression while stating, “That was a lot quicker than I expected.” I smiled lightly at him while preparing myself for all the matters we needed to discuss, as well as creating a mental checklist of the goods that we will require. I thought I was well prepared, but it seems I am not as prepared as I would’ve hoped.

“Regarding the cargo we are taking to Jollis Isle, will it be delivered to the ship or do we need to arrange for collection?” The answer to this question would make the subsequent purchases much easier if we could arrange for delivery at the same time.

I checked the Ship tab on my system panel and saw that even though we were taking 500kg’s to Jollis Isle, we still had 200kg of free space.

[Task 3/3] [Expand]

[Ship Classification: Small Fishing Vessel]

[Ship Level: 1] [Exp 0/1000]

[Cargo 0/700kg]

[Cabins 0/6]

[Crew 5/5

Seems like I have six cabins available for customization. Will definitely need a kitchen and engineer room. Along with four cabins for the crew members. Captain’s cabin, female cabin, and two male cabins. Seems like Jess is getting a room to herself, only seems right though. If we get more female members in the future then she would probably have to share.

Clark responded, “The cargo will be delivered tomorrow morning, I can also arrange that some of the extra purchases from today are delivered at the same time for you.” Perfect, means we can complete our purchases today and get settled into the ship for the night. It was already approaching evening.

“What will you all require in terms of gear” Clark asked as a proper salesman. Taking a look at the five of us I responded, “Two swords, Two pistols, Two rifles, Two knives, one shield and, Thad what weapon do u want?”

Thad responded quickly, “I would like a one handed hammer with a pointed edge on one side if possible.” Gordon and Drake looked slightly confused as Gordon asked, “What weapons are u picking for us?”

“Gordon for you I am picking two knives, as a chef you will probably quickly master the use of knives, as for Drake, I am picking a rifle so that you can stay at a distance, the second rifle is for myself, but I am confident in my rifle skills from our previous world” I explained.

“We will also need five sets of light armour, one of the sets is for the miss here, and one set of armour that is more durable for our big friend. With the two knives can you ensure that one knife is a kitchen knife, and the second knife is a butcher knife,” I finished with my initial list.

Clark questioned, “What about supplies and resources required by the engineer and chef? As well as ammunition.”

“I am just getting a feel for the pricing, don’t worry I do have a second portion of the list I will get to later.” I calmly responded, I knew that weapons and armour would be more important at this stage than resources. We could acquire the resources when we returned with the rewards from tasks and monster materials.

“Well I am not sure of what budget you have, but I would recommend these two short swords for 40 silvers each, the armour for lady would 50 silvers. The other four sets of light armour would be 30 silvers each. Two pistols each at 50 silvers. The two knives will come out to 60 silvers in total for both, they are usually sold as a set. The two rifles will be 80 silvers each. The shield will be 20 silvers. The hammer will be 50 silvers. The sturdier armour will be 80 silvers. That brings your current total to 7 gold and 20 Silvers.” Clark summarised everything I wanted quite well, but the price was a bit higher than I expected.

Well we haven’t discussed the discount part yet I thought. I turned to Gordon and Drake, “What resources do the two of you need?” I asked as I had no idea what they would require on this sailing trip.

Gordon responded quite calmly with a list of a few materials as he realised we were probably approaching our financial limit, “Flour, salt, oil and preserved vegetables. Given the ship talent, I should be able to make a relatively well balanced diet. Though we will lack meat excluding fish.”

As Gordon finished, Drake softly added, “Some wood, nails, a set of carpenters’ tools, tar and rope. And Gordon will also need some cooking utensils such as pans and pots.”

Oh it seems that Drake added something the Gordon might have missed. I looked at Clark as I said, “Just give me the total for everything they would require, no need for the breakdown.”

“The total for the items for a seven day journey would be 80 silvers. The ship engineer resources are the most expensive part here. Anything else?” Clark calmly responded. “I will also need six fishing poles. And do you have any books that cost less than 2gold,” I made my final list.

As Clark turned towards the storage area and walked off to fetch our gear I turned to my crew and said, “So for the first purchase we will definitely need to pool our money, based on what I know we should have 10 gold between the 6 of us.” Everyone looked calm at my request of pooling funds, but when I mentioned having 10 gold they all seemed slightly surprised, so I quickly clarified. “As the Captain I received 5 gold, while each crew member received 1 gold.”

Looks of understanding flashed across their faces as they nodded, then each of them handed over the single gold piece they had to me, they had all heard the breakdowns and knew that I was covering a portion of the cost for their gear, so they had no complaints.

Seeing Clark returning with our weapons and armour, as well as two boxes and two books, I turned my attention back to him. “As agreed earlier, here is the Sea Beasts Compendium, the only other book I can agree to the price of 2 gold is Map and History of Lovill Kingdom. Just so u know, Lovill is the kingdom to which Pacling and Jollis Isles belong.” Clark stated matter of fact. Time to get started on acquiring the bargaining skill.

“Based on the total you have mentioned, everything works out to 10 gold in total. I believe you mentioned a discount when I was in here earlier.” I said to him.

Clark looked me straight in the eye and said in a deadpan town, “I only mentioned the map and Sea Beasts Compendium, I didn’t mention anything about a discount.” I tsked “How about this then, not many Captains have realised that they can come to you for tasks, so I will spread the word for a twenty percent discount.” I made my offer since he remembered what he had promised earlier. “Fifteen percent and we have a deal,” Clark responded.

“Then we have a deal,” I said sweetly as I handed over 9 gold pieces. Clark quickly handed over my change while stating. “I will have everything except the gear you are taking with you now, the weapons, armour, chef box and ship engineer box, sent to the ship along with the cargo tomorrow morning.”

“I will also take the two books and the map now, then I will quickly go spread the word, expect about forty overeager individuals shortly,” I replied calmly.

“Here you go and may you have a pleasant evening and voyage, I look forward to your safe return.” Clark greeted us warmly, seems like he was satisfied with our trade and the tasks we had accepted.

Walking out of the Merchant’s Guild, I handed 20 silvers to each crew member, I had asked Clark to change my final gold piece into 100 silvers. I told them all to go get something to eat and then find me at the harbour.

Walking swiftly out of the town, I got to the recruitment square where I saw forty groups milling around, seems like they are unsure of what to do. Finding a large box to stand on, I shouted loudly so that everyone could hear me, “Hello, if you are unsure of what to do you can head to the Merchant’s Guild in town to accept tasks. Tasks reward both experience and money. I believe the tasks for Captains are more numerous, so if you want good tasks you might need to hurry, I am not sure where the other nine Captains went but they may very well be accepting the good tasks currently.”

As my voice faded away, I saw the forty Captains look slightly startled before running towards the gate, eager for directions.

I’m pretty sure that I saw the guard that warned me earlier glaring at me. But it didn’t bother me as I headed towards my ship for the first inspections. I only shouted loudly once to say, “My crew is full, see you all next time” as I saw eager individuals starting to swarm me.

The Kragmag’s were approximately half a meter, these Demon Crabs were closer to a 1 meter size, so it shows that they had a higher rating. “Demon Crabs, large pincers ideal for attacking, weak shells, weak points are the head, centre chest and belly. Drake start firing immediately,” I calmly instructed. Waiting for the Kragmag’s to get within 50m was due to their low numbers, with the extra numbers on the Demon Crabs, more kills at range will only help us.Fortunately when our eyesight had started to return to normal we ate the food Gordon had prepared earlier, so our eyesight and stamina recovery buffs were fresh. Not waiting for Drake to align his shot, I quickly aimed at the nearest Demon Crab and pulled the trigger. I hit it in the throat and with no feeling of skill activation, I knew that it was not a kill shot.I saw the one I hit visibly slowly down. Might still be a fatal wound but a slow kill. Reloading and aiming at a second one I hea

As finished laying out the general plan for the night I walked to Jess’s side and whispered quietly to her, “I would prefer making you the battle commander as I did see how well u managed the ship while I was asleep, but Jacks class is better suited to be battle commander as he can look around to see the overall situation. If you look around you could put your life at risk.” As she listened quietly to my explanation without looking at me, I saw the frustration in her eyes gradually fading away.“If he tries to lord his battle commander status over me, I can’t promise that I won’t throw him off the ship, or stab him,” She eventually responded. From her tone and eyes it seems that she was in a better mood.“When the crew becomes bigger I am planning on having three officers, a first mate, a second mate, and a battle commander. Might also add a quartermaster. Currently you are the top choice for first mate, but becoming firs

“Boss, time to wake up” Gordon shouted while knocking loudly on my cabin door.“I’m awake” I responded groggily. I have never woken up easily. “I saw that you hadn’t eaten your breakfast yet, so there are three portions of food in the canteen for you, the rest of us have eaten. Two of the portions are foods with buffs, stamina and sight,” Gordon told me as I heard him walking away.Opening the daily summary too see what has happened while I was asleep, and to estimate how long I was asleep, I got a pleasant surprise.[Nautical Miles Sailed 24, Total Exp 24][Nautical Miles Sailed 24. I had already informed Gordon that every person could only get 5L of water per day. As he was the ship chef, he was in charge of the food supplies and water. As I inspected my rifle, I also inspected myself. The lot of us had long since donned our armour, I had a light leather chest guard, bracers and shin guards over my tracksuit pants and t-shirt. I also had two pouches on my right side as well as a flask on the other side. A coin purse and an ammunition pouch. We hadn’t received any new clothes when we descended. We all descended with what we were wearing. Fortunately people were mostly in jeans or tracksuits. I didn’t see anyone in a suit or dress.Back to the rifle, I had taken a customary look at the rifle previously but had gotten preoccupied with other things before I could fully inspect it. Opening the ammunition pouch on my side, I removed a single iron ball, looks like an old fashioned musket setup but without using gunpowder. The rifle ha

We heroically stayed up the entire night… As if. As the sun rose and the light started shining on my face I slowly woke up groggily from my sleep. I had a very soft pillow below my head.Opening my eyes and seeing spots as the light was directly in my eyes, I shielded my eyes from the sun. What’s the last thing that I can remember? We were planning to stay awake the entire night so we could adjust our sleep schedule to what seems to be the norm for sailors in this world. Suffice to say, we all fell asleep. I think we made it to midnight. Well we were all normal young adults yesterday so not surprising. But where did I get the pillow? As I turned my head to the side I saw a pair of shapely legs spreading out from underneath my head. So I fell asleep with my head on Jess’s lap. Must’ve fallen sideways when I fell asleep.Carefully sitting up to ensure that I did not wake her, I took a look around. Gordon and Drake were cuddling while they

As I closed the book, I sorted through the important information in my head. I sighed as I contemplated the scenarios that could occur between the descenders and nobles. If the nobles think they can lord it over us or treat us as peasants, then they may be in for a rude awakening. Getting the commoner’s to revolt wouldn’t be too difficult if we employ some propaganda from our history, such as freedom of speech and right to education.Hearing a noise from the gangplank, I turned my head and saw my crew stepping onto the ship. It seems that they all got something to eat. They looked satisfied though Jess was holding two skewers of grilled fish. Walking to me she handed me the skewers while saying, “Got you something to eat, seemed like you weren’t even prepared to stop until u finished with your ship inspection.”Taking the skewers and feeling my stomach grumble, I looked at her as I mentioned my thanks, while taking a big bite.
