003. Humiliated
last update2026-06-23 16:40:39

Cyan was utterly humiliated, drowning in the deepest embarrassment of his life. The moment Stella’s slap landed across his face, his fists tightened fiercely at his sides.

Murmurs instantly spread through the hall as the guests whispered among themselves.

“He’s so shameless! How could he come here claiming Stella is his wife?”

“Does he even deserve to be called her husband?” another scoffed.

“I heard Stella is the one carrying the entire family on her shoulders. Without her, he’s absolutely nothing.”

“I also heard he lost his memory years ago, and Stella’s family took him in. They raised him like one of their own, yet he’s still living off their wealth. What a disgrace!”

“God forbid! That man is the most useless person I’ve ever seen. A complete pauper!”

The insults continued from every corner of the room, but Cyan forced himself to endure them in silence. What else could he possibly do?

Compared to the sting of Stella’s slap, the guests’ mockery meant nothing.

Unable to hold himself back any longer, he looked at her and asked in disbelief,

“Did you just slap me, Stella?”

Stella folded her arms across her chest and nodded coldly.

“Yes, I did, Cyan. And I’m ready to do it again and again if you refuse to use your brain!”

Cyan slowly shook his head as anger burned fiercely inside him.

But Stella wasn’t finished.

She stepped closer and jabbed a finger toward his face.

“What are you going to do about it?” she challenged. “Why are you standing there like you want to hit me? Fine then… go ahead! Slap me! Hit me! Isn’t that what makes you a man?”

Cyan remained silent. He neither moved nor responded.

At that moment, Felix quickly stepped forward and gently held Stella by the shoulders before brushing back a strand of her hair.

“Calm down, my love,” he said softly. “Take a breath and relax, alright? Don’t stress yourself over a good-for-nothing man like him.”

Stella instantly fell silent.

Felix slipped one hand into his pocket and slowly stepped closer to Cyan, staring at him from head to toe in disdain.

To Felix, Cyan looked insignificant. Judging from his appearance alone, he saw nothing more than a poor and pathetic man standing before him. What surprised him most, however, was the fact that someone as miserable as Cyan still had the courage to challenge him.

Deciding to put Cyan in his place, Felix scoffed.

“So, you claim Stella Rogers is your wife? Tell us then… how are we supposed to believe that?” He asked calmly.

“I don’t need to explain the relationship between my wife and me to you,” Cyan replied coldly. “You should’ve known better than to ask another man’s wife to be your girlfriend.”

Hearing that, Felix let out a scoff.

“Known better?” he repeated with amusement. “And why exactly should I have asked questions?”

He spread his arms slightly before continuing.

“There’s absolutely nothing about Stella that shows she belongs to you. Just look at yourself, young man. You’re broke, uneducated, and from what I heard, mentally unstable too. People even say you’re almost insane.”

“You have nothing to your name!" He continued mockingly. " Tell me, what exactly do you do for a living? How can a man as poor as you ever hope to take care of a woman like Stella Rogers?”

The guests murmured again as Felix continued humiliating him without mercy.

“The truth is, even if you worked twenty-four hours a day for the rest of your life, you still wouldn’t be able to afford the kind of life Stella deserves. Everyone here knows I’m the better option for her. She belongs with me, not with a useless man like you.”

Cyan stared at Felix with deep disdain.

Not only had the man boldly gone after his wife, but he was now standing there acting as though he had done nothing wrong.

But Cyan wasn’t interested in arguing with him.

What mattered most was Stella.

He needed answers from her. He needed to understand why she was involved with Felix while he was still alive and standing right in front of her.

Ignoring Felix completely, Cyan turned toward Stella.

“I just need you to tell me the truth, Stella. Why? I want to hear it from you directly. Are you really in a relationship with this man? Did you truly get involved with him while I’m still alive and still your...."

SLAP!

Another heavy slap landed brutally across Cyan’s face, cutting his words short.

But this time, it didn’t come from Stella.

It came from her mother—Judy.

He couldn't understand how she could even ask such a question after everything that had happened.Angrily, he stared at Stella, his mind filled with resentment.“It's all because of you that all of this is happening. If you hadn't shoved yourself into this and involved me in kneeling before this loser, none of this would be happening!” he cursed silently in his mind, his anger continuing to build as Stella held onto him.“Did you say something, my love?” Stella asked.Felix immediately shook his head.“No... no, my love.
