“Karina, please let me purchase clothes in peace,” he pleaded, still examining the clothes in front of him.

“These clothes are not five dollars Allen. Give up while you still got the chance,” she said, laughing loudly this time, already getting the attention of the other buyers.

“I don't have the time for this Karina,” Allen said again, running out of patience.

“Suit yourself then. A poor cleaner like you cannot afford these clothes,” she said loudly before walking away. Now, the store was filled with murmurs from people, considering how shabbily he dressed. Their murmurs turned to laughs but Allen ignored and composed himself.

When he was done picking the ones he wanted, he hurriedly went to pay when he saw Karina standing there again. When she saw him, a smirk crept its way to her face. She wanted him to be embarrassed so badly.

Allen slipped his infinity card out of his pockets, about to hand it over to the cashier when Karina screamed loudly.

“You're a thief Allen!”

“Where did you get that?” she screamed, calling the attention of other people.

“This card belongs to the top bosses so how did he get a hold of it,” the other workers murmured.

“You obviously stole it,” Karina said again, fuming in anger. “I will call the security on you.”

“The security will do nothing to me,” Allen said with so much confidence, and a smile playing on his lips.

Karina was taken aback. The Allen she knew was never this confident but she still stood her ground.

“Since you are so eager, let's place a bet,” Allen told her. “If the security takes me, I will do your bidding but if they don't, you will kneel before me and beg for my forgiveness.

“Bring it on Allen. You are playing with your life,” Karina said with a scoff. Karina left and in a few minutes she came back with the security tagging behind her.

“That is the man I told you about,” she said, pointing at Allen.

“What is going on here,” a baritone voice said in the midst of the crowd. Immediately, the crowd started to dissolve giving way for the man with much respect.

The workers, including Karina bowed their heads to greet this man. Allen stood there watching the whole scenario.

“You are so dead Allen. My boss will deal with you,” Karina said, with a devilish smile playing on her lips.

“I said, what is going on!” the man screamed, his voice clouded the room.

“Sir, this man is a thief causing trouble so I called the security on him. You don't have to bother, they will take him quickly,” Karina said, lowering her gaze in front of the man.

“Who dares to cause trouble here?” The man asked again, still curious. Karina pointed at Allen. The manager followed her hand movements, finally landing on Allen’s face.

Immediately he saw Allen, his eyes widened in shock. He immediately recognized who was in front of him.

“Are you all crazy?” The man asked the security angrily. “Do you people know who you are disrespecting?”

“But sir, Karina told us he was a thief,” the security leader announced.

“Young master, what punishment do you want me to give her for accusing you wrongly?” the man asked, bowing before Allen.

The store was filled with murmurs upon seeing the man bow before a mere pauper. Karina was confused on why her boss would bow to this poor Allen she knew. He even asked him to punish her.

“But sir, he is just a wretched cleaner with no penny to his name. He obviously stole the card,” Karina argued fiercely.

“Slap!” the manager’s hand landed across her face. “How dare you disrespect the young master,” the manager said to Karina who was still rubbing her burning cheeks in disbelief.

His bodyguards and Mr Calloway heard the commotion inside and they all rushed to the scene.

“Young master, what is happening?” Mr Calloway asked, with the other guards ready for action.

All of these threw Karina into further confusion as she threw deadly glares at Allen.

“I don't know what game you are playing Allen but I will make sure you regret this!” Karina blurted out, still in pain. “You know, Ryan, my sister's new fiancé, is my top boss. You will regret doing this to me.”

Allen scoffed, as a sinister smile played on his lips. “So Ryan works under me.”

That revelation made him even more excited. The thought of dealing with Ryan in the worst way possible filled his mind.

“Boss Ryan will deal with you all,” Karina echoed, glaring at everyone. The guards immediately picked her up, about to drag her away when Allen stopped them.

“I haven't finished with her yet,” Allen revealed, walking closer to where she was.

“The owner of the store is my person. I told you the guards will not take me,” Allen said, laughing. He didn't want her to know he was the owner because he wanted to slowly reveal everything as time went on. He wanted it to come as a shock to all of them.

Karina stood there, wondering how poor Allen knew the owners of the store.

“Now, beg for my forgiveness because I’ve won the bet,” Allen announced in front of everyone.

“Never Allen, I will never kneel to a wretched cleaner like you,” Karina screamed. The manager was about to give her another slap when Allen gestured with his hands for him to stop.

“Karina, you are on the verge of losing your job so you’d better beg him,” the manager warned. She sighed in defeat, the fear of losing her job because of Allen, pressed her. She had no choice and managed to speak.

“Forgive me Allen,” she muttered inaudibly, rolling her eyes.

“That is not a way to address the young master. Address him properly and bow!” the manager ordered.

Michael slipped his phone out of his pocket as he dialed a familiar number. "I tried to ask him nicely but he refused. It's time for plan B," he spoke into the phone. He walked through the offices as he finally arrived at the one he was headed to. The words, Attorney Smith were boldly inscribed on the door. After he knocked on the door, a clear voice told him to come inside. As he flung the door open, an elderly man sat, writing seriously on some papers. "You asked to see me, Mr Herondale," the man started. "Concerning your grandmother's will." Michael nodded, then made his way to the nearest chair. "I really need to see the will. It's urgent." "Are you sure she gave permission for that?" the attorney asked to be sure. "Y...yes she did," Michael stammered. "I had even asked my adopted brother," he lied. The attorney looked at him through the upper part of his glasses for what seemed to be an eternity then walked into another room. Michael tiptoed quietly behind him wat

"As much as I want to spend it with you, I also know you didn't hurt Madam," Jose blurted, quickening his steps, a discerning look on his face. "No one would believe me now. Allen has already made up his mind," Olivia responded, the wine tasting bitter in her mouth even though it was made with grapes and other sweet things. "Running would mean I'm guilty so I can't do that either." Jose stared at the floor for what seemed like an eternity, then back at Olivia who looked like she had already given up. "Then fight! Prove that you're innocent. I'll help you, I promise," Jose said staring at her pitifully. Olivia couldn't even look at Jose. Guilt overwhelmed her. Even after how bad she had treated him in the past, he still wanted to help her? "I can't receive help from you. I don't deserve it, really," Olivia muttered. Before Jose could respond, policemen barged through the doors with Tony trailing helplessly behind them. "There was nothing I could do ma'am," he spoke, pantin

With tear-filled eyes, Olivia watched Allen storm out angrily. The tears rolled down her cheeks vigorously. "Miss Olivia, this would be all for today. You're free to go home," the officer's voice rang in her ears. "But, it's not over yet. If there's strong evidence, you'll be charged." She looked at the officer, nodded her head then stormed out, hoping she still had a chance to make Allen forgive her. The minute she stepped outside the building, she saw Allen's car at a distance. He was gone. Her knees weakened as she got lost in her thoughts. She was still sobbing when Michael's voice shot through the air. "I'd say instead of crying over a man, use your freedom well because you'll be behind bars soon," Michael said with a laugh. Olivia's eyes burned with rage. The tears immediately dried up. "What did you do?" she blurted, slamming her hands on his chest. "Do you really want to ruin my life?" Michael said nothing, only releasing annoying laughs that fueled her anger.

  • CHAPTER 37: Olivia's Arrest

Olivia sat in Hayfield manor, eating lunch while trying to fix some office work. She had planned to visit the hospital again, to see Madam Ophelia. "Ma'am, someone's out here making a fuss. He came with the police," Tony said, barging in. Olivia quickly dropped what she was doing, her eyes red with fury as they bored into Tony. "Police? For what? You're disturbing me, Tony. Papa is in Germany. The work is on me. Let me work!" "But ma'am, I'm not kidding," Tony said again. Olivia sheepishly yanked the curtain open to have a peek at what was happening outside. Tony wasn't wrong. About five policemen had established themselves outside. But wait, she saw a familiar face. No way! "Fucking H Michael!" She muttered. She had known Michael as a child. In fact, they used to be friends until she rejected his love proposal. Had he come for revenge or what? She remembered that day, under the shimmering lights of the Herondale manor. She had gone to visit Madam Ophelia as usua

  • CHAPTER 36: Poison

Allen had just dropped Olivia home. They waited for the doctor's report the whole day but were told it would be ready the next morning. He reached the Herondale manor in no time and as he entered the first person his gaze landed on was Michael. Not wanting to strike up a conversation, Allen greeted and walked past him. "Just like that? Brother?" Michael blurted out. "Come on, that's too formal." Allen scoffed. "You were the one trying to fight me some days back but here you are today wanting formalities," Allen responded. "Spare me the crap!" "Oh, that's what this is about," Michael said with a smile. "Well, I heard about the doctor's reports," he added. "Did they mention what type of substances?" Allen paused, his feet suddenly glued to the ground. "You didn't come to the hospital today. You didn't even ask about Grandma but all you care about is what kind of substance!" Allen raged. That seemed to be the only thing Michael cared about. "Chill, man," Michael spoke. "

  • CHAPTER 35: Black-eyed Katherine

His heartbeat quickened. "What did you say happened to Grandma?" Allen asked again, to be sure he heard well. "The doctor requested to see you. It seems he discovered something," Calloway informed him, calmly this time. Allen sighed. Morning didn't come fast. He needed answers about her condition. "What about Michael. Have you noticed anything suspicious?" Allen asked, his breathing rough."I haven't noticed anything. He's barely at home," Calloway explained. After their conversation, Allen made his way to his room. His mind wasn't at peace. He tried to sleep but he just couldn't shake the thoughts off. Soon, it was morning. He hurriedly made his way to the hospital. He stood outside the ward, staring at his grandma through the glass door. "Eh-ehm," a throat cleared behind him. He turned to see the doctor behind him. Immediately, his breathing slowed. "I heard you asked to see me, Doctor," Allen finally spoke. The doctor let out a deep sigh. "Yes I did. We've discovered somet
