“Forgive me young master,” Karina said, bowing, hot tears flowing down her cheeks.
“You can let her go,” Allen ordered and they did. She stomped away in anger, not planning to let him off the hook so easily. “I will make you pay for this, Allen,” she mumbled. Allen continued shopping and when he was done, he drove back home with the crowd looking at him in amazement. Getting home, he went straight to his grandmother's room. “I want to visit the Silvercrest headquarters tomorrow please,” he told her, making himself comfortable on the sofa. “Of course Allen. I was just about to discuss that with you. I think it's time you get familiar with business around here and with time you’ll be getting us deals,” she said with a warm smile. Hearing those words, excitement built up in Allen. “But I must say, I’m more interested in the wine business. Let me learn how it works,” Allen pleaded. Madam Ophelia was impressed by Allen's eagerness to learn. “Of course. Calloway will teach you everything you need to know. Just be focused,” she advised. Allen was eager to show off his skills and make money for the company too. He was prepared to put in his best for good results. However, the thoughts of Katherine still lingered in his mind. “I told you I would make money one day,” he muttered, as he retired to his room. The next day, he was ready to tell Jose about everything that had happened. His fingers scrolled through the contact list on his phone as he dialed Jose's number patiently waiting for him to pick the call. “You’re alive man? I thought Katherine buried you already,” Jose said, grinning from the other end. “Bro, you’re not going to believe what happened,” Allen responded, laughing. “Let's just meet at our usual spot.” After the call, he smiled, putting on a new shirt and a pair of shoes, as he drove to their usual spot. Jose sat, patiently waiting at their usual street food place. A black Rolls Royce parked at a corner. He wondered what such an expensive car with a probably rich owner would be doing at such a place. He shrugged the thoughts off still searching for Allen. Just then, a neatly dressed man walked out of the Rolls Royce. His presence made people murmur as they all wondered what a well-dressed man would be doing at a place like that. “Hey man,” Allen called out to Jose who almost couldn't recognize him. Jose looked at him in disbelief. “What happened to you!” Jose asked, his mouth slightly opened. “You look so different!” “Let's talk about it over a meal and a few drinks. All bills are on me,” Allen told Jose, who was still in shock. After they ordered food, they both sat to talk about Allen's newly found riches. “Now tell me, what bank did you rob?” Jose asked with a laugh. “Bro, I’m a Herondale. I found my long lost family and I’m the heir to a vast fortune,” Allen said, still in shock himself. “You mean the Herondales, owners of the silvercrest group of conglomerates? You hit the jackpot!” Jose screamed, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets. “Look at this,” Allen said, showing Jose the infinity card. “It has billions in it.” “Billions?!” Jose screamed, while observing the card. “You mean this small thing contains such a huge amount. Katherine made a huge mistake leaving you. Have you told her yet?” “I only hope when she realises, it won't be too late,” Allen said, bowing his head, a hint of sadness written on his face. “By the way, how would you like to work at my company?” A smile crept to Jose’s face when he heard those words. “Yes I would love to,” Jose blurted out in excitement. They always had a pact that whoever made it first would take the other along and that's exactly what Allen was doing. Just then, they were approached by a group of street goons. Allen immediately recognized them as they were the same people who always harassed him and Jose when he was still poor. Now, he has the power to deal with them. “Allen and Jose as usual,” the leader Macho, called, his baritone voice interrupting their conversation. He was a largely built six feet man that would make anybody tremble. The other goons went to the other tables, harassing people there and scattering the tables. “You know what we came for. Hand it over,” Macho told them, stretching out his hands. “We don't have any money,” Jose quickly replied, trembling with fear. On days where they had money, they would take everything and other days they would beat them to a pulp. “Allen's dressing says otherwise. Don't keep me waiting,” Macho said, already starting to lose patience and slamming his hands on the table. “Macho, you don't want to try me,” Allen warned, looking straight into his eyes without fear. Everyone wondered what kind of courage Allen had. “Leave this place without causing any trouble or you will regret this.” “You? Make me regret it?” Macho laughed with all his might. He said he will make me regret,” he said to the other goons and they all burst out laughing. “Allen don't,” Jose pleaded, still trembling with fear. “You know what Macho is capable of.” “I can handle this,” Allen calmed him down. “Who do you think you are?” Macho said, grabbing Allen's collar with his large hands. “You seem to forget who the king is around here Allen.” “I pity you Macho. When my men get here, you will regret ever being born!” Allen fired back, his eyes filled with rage. “This poor fool thinks he has imaginary men waiting to save him,” Macho mocked and they all burst out laughing for a second time. Allen took out his phone, texting Calloway the address and what was happening. “They will be here soon and by then you and your men will be begging for my forgiveness,” Allen warned further but they ignored him. After some minutes of waiting, Allen began to worry as they had not shown up yet and a little fear kicked in. “Where are they?!” Macho screamed, grabbing his collar even tighter this time. “I will teach you a lesson.” The other goons started destroying the shop even more. Macho raised his hands, almost punching Allen, when the sound of screeching tires interrupted them. Strong men in black charged towards the shop. “How dare you try to hurt the young master Herondale!” Mr Calloway screamed in anger. The goons started to tremble, seeing such well dressed men and exotic cars.Latest Chapter
CHAPTER 44: Rodrigo
It was a two hour journey and as they drove, they went further out of the city. Soon, they arrived at an almost deserted area with a fenced building standing there."Welcome to your new hideout, Michael," Drey spoke as he slammed the car door shut. Michael scoffed, unimpressed but without a choice. The two men walked in slowly, accessing every inch of the place. As the door flung open, Michael screamed in shock. "What the hell is this?! When you promised me protection, I didn't say I wanted to live in a pig sty!""You have no right to tell me what to do, unless you want to go back to your grandma's and have the police lock you up," Drey threatened, his eyes blank. Michael gulped, not saying a word. He new whatever Drey offered was way better than being locked up."I'll have someone clean up the place but don't you dare step foot out of this house. I'll come visit if the need arises," Drey continued. Michael let out a forced laugh. "Do I look like your prisoner? This place isn't
CHAPTER 43: On the Run!
"You don't know how much I want to see you suffer!" Michael continued. Allen gritted his teeth. "You're an animal, Michael! You deserve no pity! Michael laughed but he knew the police would be there any minute so he had to escape somehow. "I'm not going to let you lock me up easily!" he screamed and barged out of the room heading towards the main door. They all chased after him but it was to late, Michael knew his way around the house more than anyone so he escaped. Allen's knees weakened. How could he have let Michael go so easily. "I've made a big mistake, Jose. I made him escape," Allen managed to say, collapsing on the floor. Jose looked unbothered and that worried Allen. "It's not your fault. Michael is a smart jerk and to catch him you have to play smart like him," Jose said, throwing his phone to Allen who caught it between his fingers. "What is this?" Allen asked, confused. "Michael's confession," Jose revealed proudly. Allen looked at the screen and
CHAPTER 42: I Poisoned Grandma!
Allen immediately rushed out of the station and headed straight for the hospital. In a few minutes, he arrived but Calloway was already there, beaming. The two men barged into the ward to see Madam Ophelia awake and well even though she was still in recovery process. "Allen!" she muttered weakly. Her eyes were dark and gloomy. "Young master!" Calloway spoke excitedly. "This calls for celebration!" "No," Allen said slowly. "No one must know about this except both of us. Not even Michael." He had thought about the risks involved and no one could be trusted. He even talked to the doctor to make sure no one comes inside the ward. "My grandma should stay here for some days to recover properly but after that, we'll move her to her penthouse secretly. If Michael asks, tell him it's strictly doctor's orders," Allen ordered and Calloway nodded obediently. Two days later... Madam Ophelia sat on her bed, healthier with slightly bright eyes. She had even started taking a few st
CHAPTER 41: Get Rid of Him
Meanwhile, at Silvercrest, Allen had just walked in when he noticed Jose walking quickly towards him and immediately knew what Jose wanted. "If it's about Olivia, I don't want to hear anything. She is guilty and that's final!" Allen blurted. "Allen, listen to me," Jose retorted. "I know a liar when I see one and trust me, Olivia is far from that." Allen scoffed, finally turning to Jose's direction. "You see visions now? Don't put your trust in people. Everything points to her!" "Allen!" Jose raged, pulling Allen back. Allen froze. He had never seen Jose that serious or angry. "Please give her a chance." Allen's breathing slowed. Anger burned deep inside him but ignoring his best friend's request was one thing he could not do. He sighed, adjusted his clothes then spoke. "I'll give her another chance for your sake but it better not be in vain," Allen muttered, before walking away. A sigh of relief escaped Jose's lips. He couldn't wait to inform Olivia of the good news
CHAPTER 40: Failed Theft
Michael slipped his phone out of his pocket as he dialed a familiar number. "I tried to ask him nicely but he refused. It's time for plan B," he spoke into the phone. He walked through the offices as he finally arrived at the one he was headed to. The words, Attorney Smith were boldly inscribed on the door. After he knocked on the door, a clear voice told him to come inside. As he flung the door open, an elderly man sat, writing seriously on some papers. "You asked to see me, Mr Herondale," the man started. "Concerning your grandmother's will." Michael nodded, then made his way to the nearest chair. "I really need to see the will. It's urgent." "Are you sure she gave permission for that?" the attorney asked to be sure. "Y...yes she did," Michael stammered. "I had even asked my adopted brother," he lied. The attorney looked at him through the upper part of his glasses for what seemed to be an eternity then walked into another room. Michael tiptoed quietly behind him wat
CHAPTER 39: Michael Herondale in the Flesh
"As much as I want to spend it with you, I also know you didn't hurt Madam," Jose blurted, quickening his steps, a discerning look on his face. "No one would believe me now. Allen has already made up his mind," Olivia responded, the wine tasting bitter in her mouth even though it was made with grapes and other sweet things. "Running would mean I'm guilty so I can't do that either." Jose stared at the floor for what seemed like an eternity, then back at Olivia who looked like she had already given up. "Then fight! Prove that you're innocent. I'll help you, I promise," Jose said staring at her pitifully. Olivia couldn't even look at Jose. Guilt overwhelmed her. Even after how bad she had treated him in the past, he still wanted to help her? "I can't receive help from you. I don't deserve it, really," Olivia muttered. Before Jose could respond, policemen barged through the doors with Tony trailing helplessly behind them. "There was nothing I could do ma'am," he spoke, pantin
