“Forgive me young master,” Karina said, bowing, hot tears flowing down her cheeks.

“You can let her go,” Allen ordered and they did. She stomped away in anger, not planning to let him off the hook so easily.

“I will make you pay for this, Allen,” she mumbled.

Allen continued shopping and when he was done, he drove back home with the crowd looking at him in amazement. Getting home, he went straight to his grandmother's room.

“I want to visit the Silvercrest headquarters tomorrow please,” he told her, making himself comfortable on the sofa.

“Of course Allen. I was just about to discuss that with you. I think it's time you get familiar with business around here and with time you’ll be getting us deals,” she said with a warm smile.

Hearing those words, excitement built up in Allen. “But I must say, I’m more interested in the wine business. Let me learn how it works,” Allen pleaded.

Madam Ophelia was impressed by Allen's eagerness to learn. “Of course. Calloway will teach you everything you need to know. Just be focused,” she advised.

Allen was eager to show off his skills and make money for the company too. He was prepared to put in his best for good results. However, the thoughts of Katherine still lingered in his mind.

“I told you I would make money one day,” he muttered, as he retired to his room.

The next day, he was ready to tell Jose about everything that had happened.

His fingers scrolled through the contact list on his phone as he dialed Jose's number patiently waiting for him to pick the call.

“You’re alive man? I thought Katherine buried you already,” Jose said, grinning from the other end.

“Bro, you’re not going to believe what happened,” Allen responded, laughing. “Let's just meet at our usual spot.”

After the call, he smiled, putting on a new shirt and a pair of shoes, as he drove to their usual spot.

Jose sat, patiently waiting at their usual street food place. A black Rolls Royce parked at a corner. He wondered what such an expensive car with a probably rich owner would be doing at such a place. He shrugged the thoughts off still searching for Allen.

Just then, a neatly dressed man walked out of the Rolls Royce. His presence made people murmur as they all wondered what a well-dressed man would be doing at a place like that.

“Hey man,” Allen called out to Jose who almost couldn't recognize him.

Jose looked at him in disbelief.

“What happened to you!” Jose asked, his mouth slightly opened. “You look so different!”

“Let's talk about it over a meal and a few drinks. All bills are on me,” Allen told Jose, who was still in shock.

After they ordered food, they both sat to talk about Allen's newly found riches.

“Now tell me, what bank did you rob?” Jose asked with a laugh.

“Bro, I’m a Herondale. I found my long lost family and I’m the heir to a vast fortune,” Allen said, still in shock himself.

“You mean the Herondales, owners of the silvercrest group of conglomerates? You hit the jackpot!” Jose screamed, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets.

“Look at this,” Allen said, showing Jose the infinity card. “It has billions in it.”

“Billions?!” Jose screamed, while observing the card. “You mean this small thing contains such a huge amount. Katherine made a huge mistake leaving you. Have you told her yet?”

“I only hope when she realises, it won't be too late,” Allen said, bowing his head, a hint of sadness written on his face. “By the way, how would you like to work at my company?”

A smile crept to Jose’s face when he heard those words.

“Yes I would love to,” Jose blurted out in excitement. They always had a pact that whoever made it first would take the other along and that's exactly what Allen was doing.

Just then, they were approached by a group of street goons. Allen immediately recognized them as they were the same people who always harassed him and Jose when he was still poor. Now, he has the power to deal with them.

“Allen and Jose as usual,” the leader Macho, called, his baritone voice interrupting their conversation. He was a largely built six feet man that would make anybody tremble.

The other goons went to the other tables, harassing people there and scattering the tables.

“You know what we came for. Hand it over,” Macho told them, stretching out his hands.

“We don't have any money,” Jose quickly replied, trembling with fear. On days where they had money, they would take everything and other days they would beat them to a pulp.

“Allen's dressing says otherwise. Don't keep me waiting,” Macho said, already starting to lose patience and slamming his hands on the table.

“Macho, you don't want to try me,” Allen warned, looking straight into his eyes without fear. Everyone wondered what kind of courage Allen had.

“Leave this place without causing any trouble or you will regret this.”

“You? Make me regret it?” Macho laughed with all his might. He said he will make me regret,” he said to the other goons and they all burst out laughing.

“Allen don't,” Jose pleaded, still trembling with fear. “You know what Macho is capable of.”

“I can handle this,” Allen calmed him down.

“Who do you think you are?” Macho said, grabbing Allen's collar with his large hands. “You seem to forget who the king is around here Allen.”

“I pity you Macho. When my men get here, you will regret ever being born!” Allen fired back, his eyes filled with rage.

“This poor fool thinks he has imaginary men waiting to save him,” Macho mocked and they all burst out laughing for a second time. Allen took out his phone, texting Calloway the address and what was happening.

“They will be here soon and by then you and your men will be begging for my forgiveness,” Allen warned further but they ignored him.

After some minutes of waiting, Allen began to worry as they had not shown up yet and a little fear kicked in.

“Where are they?!” Macho screamed, grabbing his collar even tighter this time. “I will teach you a lesson.”

The other goons started destroying the shop even more. Macho raised his hands, almost punching Allen, when the sound of screeching tires interrupted them. Strong men in black charged towards the shop.

“How dare you try to hurt the young master Herondale!” Mr Calloway screamed in anger. The goons started to tremble, seeing such well dressed men and exotic cars.

Michael slipped his phone out of his pocket as he dialed a familiar number. "I tried to ask him nicely but he refused. It's time for plan B," he spoke into the phone. He walked through the offices as he finally arrived at the one he was headed to. The words, Attorney Smith were boldly inscribed on the door. After he knocked on the door, a clear voice told him to come inside. As he flung the door open, an elderly man sat, writing seriously on some papers. "You asked to see me, Mr Herondale," the man started. "Concerning your grandmother's will." Michael nodded, then made his way to the nearest chair. "I really need to see the will. It's urgent." "Are you sure she gave permission for that?" the attorney asked to be sure. "Y...yes she did," Michael stammered. "I had even asked my adopted brother," he lied. The attorney looked at him through the upper part of his glasses for what seemed to be an eternity then walked into another room. Michael tiptoed quietly behind him wat

"As much as I want to spend it with you, I also know you didn't hurt Madam," Jose blurted, quickening his steps, a discerning look on his face. "No one would believe me now. Allen has already made up his mind," Olivia responded, the wine tasting bitter in her mouth even though it was made with grapes and other sweet things. "Running would mean I'm guilty so I can't do that either." Jose stared at the floor for what seemed like an eternity, then back at Olivia who looked like she had already given up. "Then fight! Prove that you're innocent. I'll help you, I promise," Jose said staring at her pitifully. Olivia couldn't even look at Jose. Guilt overwhelmed her. Even after how bad she had treated him in the past, he still wanted to help her? "I can't receive help from you. I don't deserve it, really," Olivia muttered. Before Jose could respond, policemen barged through the doors with Tony trailing helplessly behind them. "There was nothing I could do ma'am," he spoke, pantin

With tear-filled eyes, Olivia watched Allen storm out angrily. The tears rolled down her cheeks vigorously. "Miss Olivia, this would be all for today. You're free to go home," the officer's voice rang in her ears. "But, it's not over yet. If there's strong evidence, you'll be charged." She looked at the officer, nodded her head then stormed out, hoping she still had a chance to make Allen forgive her. The minute she stepped outside the building, she saw Allen's car at a distance. He was gone. Her knees weakened as she got lost in her thoughts. She was still sobbing when Michael's voice shot through the air. "I'd say instead of crying over a man, use your freedom well because you'll be behind bars soon," Michael said with a laugh. Olivia's eyes burned with rage. The tears immediately dried up. "What did you do?" she blurted, slamming her hands on his chest. "Do you really want to ruin my life?" Michael said nothing, only releasing annoying laughs that fueled her anger.

  • CHAPTER 37: Olivia's Arrest

Olivia sat in Hayfield manor, eating lunch while trying to fix some office work. She had planned to visit the hospital again, to see Madam Ophelia. "Ma'am, someone's out here making a fuss. He came with the police," Tony said, barging in. Olivia quickly dropped what she was doing, her eyes red with fury as they bored into Tony. "Police? For what? You're disturbing me, Tony. Papa is in Germany. The work is on me. Let me work!" "But ma'am, I'm not kidding," Tony said again. Olivia sheepishly yanked the curtain open to have a peek at what was happening outside. Tony wasn't wrong. About five policemen had established themselves outside. But wait, she saw a familiar face. No way! "Fucking H Michael!" She muttered. She had known Michael as a child. In fact, they used to be friends until she rejected his love proposal. Had he come for revenge or what? She remembered that day, under the shimmering lights of the Herondale manor. She had gone to visit Madam Ophelia as usua

Allen had just dropped Olivia home. They waited for the doctor's report the whole day but were told it would be ready the next morning. He reached the Herondale manor in no time and as he entered the first person his gaze landed on was Michael. Not wanting to strike up a conversation, Allen greeted and walked past him. "Just like that? Brother?" Michael blurted out. "Come on, that's too formal." Allen scoffed. "You were the one trying to fight me some days back but here you are today wanting formalities," Allen responded. "Spare me the crap!" "Oh, that's what this is about," Michael said with a smile. "Well, I heard about the doctor's reports," he added. "Did they mention what type of substances?" Allen paused, his feet suddenly glued to the ground. "You didn't come to the hospital today. You didn't even ask about Grandma but all you care about is what kind of substance!" Allen raged. That seemed to be the only thing Michael cared about. "Chill, man," Michael spoke. "

His heartbeat quickened. "What did you say happened to Grandma?" Allen asked again, to be sure he heard well. "The doctor requested to see you. It seems he discovered something," Calloway informed him, calmly this time. Allen sighed. Morning didn't come fast. He needed answers about her condition. "What about Michael. Have you noticed anything suspicious?" Allen asked, his breathing rough."I haven't noticed anything. He's barely at home," Calloway explained. After their conversation, Allen made his way to his room. His mind wasn't at peace. He tried to sleep but he just couldn't shake the thoughts off. Soon, it was morning. He hurriedly made his way to the hospital. He stood outside the ward, staring at his grandma through the glass door. "Eh-ehm," a throat cleared behind him. He turned to see the doctor behind him. Immediately, his breathing slowed. "I heard you asked to see me, Doctor," Allen finally spoke. The doctor let out a deep sigh. "Yes I did. We've discovered somet
