Chapter 5.

The room was filled with a warm, grateful atmosphere as Mr. Lee continued to recover.

Arthur sat in the corner, as he stared at his hands.

He couldn't believe he was able to heal a person. Arthur was unable to guess the extent of his powers and it didn't exactly make him excited, he was terrified for some reasons.

He felt the need to know more about his powers and the man who had appeared to him as his ancestors.

"Arthur."

Nicole's voice erupted him from reverie. Arthur quickly set his gaze on and smiled, "Hey Nicole."

"Arthur," she said, approaching him with genuine gratitude in her eyes, "I can't thank you enough for what you've done. You saved my grandfather's life."

The sense of relief was palpable, and it brought a smile to Nicole's face.

Arthur, still recovering from his earlier exhaustion, managed a weak but sincere smile. "I'm just glad I could help, Nicole. Your kindness when you found me meant everything to me. I owed it to you."

Nicole's eyes glimmered as she listened to Arthur's words. "You emphasize the importance of repaying good deeds," she said, addressing him by name, "and I want you to know that I'm here to help in any way I can. Anything you need, just ask."

Arthur was taken aback by Nicole's generosity.

"Thank you, Nicole," Arthur replied. " I've only returned the favor Nicole. We need not owe each other more favors again."

"I see. Well if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Friends owes each other many favors. And I'm your friend right? "

 "I'll keep that in mind."

Nicole nodded understandingly. "Of course, Arthur."

Nicole, still standing by her Arthur side, turned her attention to Mr. Lee as she asked, "Grandfather, how are you feeling? Do the doctors have any idea how long you have left?"

Mr. Lee, though still frail, responded optimistically, "Nicole, my dear, you worry too much. I will live for as long as I am meant to, I'm very healthy."

Mr Lee could no longer feel any pains in his heart, neither did he fe dizzy as usual.

"The pneumonia is gone?" Nicole couldn't believe. Her eyes wells up as she began being curious. "How did happen?" She turns to Arthur, but as soon as their eyes met, Arthur shrugged.

"How can he be cured of pneumonia. The fake doctor didn't do anything. Mr Lee is cured thanks to the treatment I've given over the years. Ridiculous!" Griffin argued.

Nicole sighed, "How about we do some test."

Griffin smiled boastfully as he walked up to Nicole, "The test are not necessary, I've done a great job. You should thank me and not the fake doctor who kept checking Mr Lee pulse."

Nicole didn't know how Arthur was able to cure her grandfather, making her doubt if Arthur was responsible for her grandfather illness or it was the medicines Griffin have administering for him.

"Prepare for the test, and I will pay the bills before we leave."

It didn't take up to an hour when Griffin walked back to the ward. He instantly stopped giggling a soon as his eyes met Nicole's.

"Nicole, your father is indeed fine. The test results says he is healthy and fit to return home. But as his specialist, I will recommend the drugs he should take and how frequently he should visit the for follow up. We don't want him to suddenly Falk I'll again right."

Nicole was excited, "Grandfather, you are finally well."

Arthur scoffed, seeing that Griffin was trying to take his credits. He didn't try to argue, as he wanted to keep a low profile until he figured out everything he needs to know about his powers.

Nicole turned to Arthur, her eyes glimmering as she held his hands, "You are indeed an angel sent to me."

On hearing this, Griffin was annoyed, "Miss Nicole, you should be thankful to me for years of persistent."

Nicole turned towards Griffin as said, "We won't be needing extra drugs or regular check up, Arthur can help out."

Griffin was agitated, "Nicole, you need to keep your grandfather save. Keep up with his check up and don't let a fake doctor okay you."

" Dr Griffin, why not worry about yourself. I see the list of medicines, they are worth over 20,000 dollars. Are you trying to extort more money because my grandfather is well now?"

On hearing this, Griffin was extremely agitated. His brows furrowed as he stared at Arthur. He wouldn't let this go.

He lost a patient.

Mr. Lee, his eyes twinkled turned his gaze at Arthur. "Young man," he said warmly, "you have repeatedly refused my offers to repay your kindness. How about this? Since you won't accept repayment, would you honor me with your presence at dinner? It's a small way for me to express my gratitude."

Arthur finally relented. "I would be honored, Mr. Lee. Thank you for your kind invitation."

Nicole's smile widened as she witnessed this exchange. She turned to Arthur and said, "Let's leave together right?"

Arthur smiled and nodded.

....

As the day turned to evening, Arthur arrived at Nicole's home for dinner, filled with a sense of warmth and gratitude. He was welcomed into their home with open arms, and the scent of a homemade meal filled the air.

But then- as they were about to sit down for dinner, Arthur's phone buzzed with an incoming message.

He pulled it out, his heart sinking as he read the words on the screen.

It was a message from an unknown number. Arthur recognized the tone and the threats instantly.

 It was from Amelia.

The message was chilling and to the point: "I know you survived, but don't think for a second that you're safe. If you want to stay alive, disappear from this town and never return."

Arthur's face paled as he read the message. He couldn't believe she had tracked him down. Fear and anxiety gripped his heart.

Nicole and her grandfather noticed the change in Arthur's demeanor. Concern etched across Nicole's face as she asked, "Arthur, is everything okay? You look pale."

"I'm good." He quickly placed his phone in his pocket as he feigned a smile.
