Hi Babe, I have sent the money, have you received it?" Austin typed away on his phone, a small satisfied small sat on his face as he hit the sent button.
"Seen," The next second, a one word cold reply was sent back to his phone.
Austin froze, his eyes popping out of their sockets as he stared blankly at this phone wondering what was going on.
"No, this can't be happening," He muttered under his breath and quickly backed from the chat, wanting to go back in to see another message.
Maybe the first one deleted, or an addition to explain how grateful she was.
Maybe something else. He didn't know what he was expecting, but he knew he was expecting something.
But the moment he went back into the chat, his body froze once more and his body shook heavily as if a bucket of cold water had been doused on him.
Right under the last chat, the block for the input message was replaced by another message.
"You've been blocked by this user."
Austin blinked, rubbed his eyes and then looked at his phone once more hoping he was just hallucinating.
But no, it was real, the small text stared right back at him slapping him coldly across the face.
Without hesitation, he backed away and rushed to call the number only to be met by the cold voice of the machine from the other end,
"The number you just called does not exist."
Austin's heart slammed violently against his chest as he stared at the number, sweat slowly started to gather on his forehead while some gathered around his neck.
Refusing to admit what he had just heard, he dialed the number again only to be met with the same cold reply.
Trying again, all that came was the same reply. Still refusing to admit what he was hearing, he hurriedly dropped the phone and pulled the old rusty drawer by his side and started to search for something.
Five minutes later, he fished out an old rusty phone.
With shaky hands and a brow covered in sweat. Even his old clothes were not spared from the sweat.
But Austin could care less about that and quickly switched on the phone, then copied the number from the other phone and dialed it.
Ultimately, he was met with the same cold reply from the other end of the phone.
At this moment, a terrible feeling finally rose slowly to his stomach as he seemed to start accepting the truth of the situation.
His girlfriend of six months has blocked him right after he transferred her the money.
How? Where did he go wrong?
He had met the lady six months ago online and they had met about once or twice even though she never visited his place.
They had been planning their third meeting at his house when he noticed she stopped replying to his messages.
Digging into the situation, she told him that her mother was sick and sent pictures of the hospital bill.
According to her, she had taken all kinds of loans and really didn't have any means left. So she had taken quite a lot of jobs so she would be able to foot the bill.
Austin a pauper himself was lost on what to do. Most of his salary had always gone to his brother who had been hospitalized for quite a few years now.
He was quite helpless and had no idea how to help. He offered quite a bit of comfort and tried to send the bit he had.
But it was not enough and when he finally asked what he could do. She hesitated for a very long time.
After a little pressure, she said she knew of a loan with very low interest.
At first, Austin refused, but she pleaded and promised to pay it all with interest.
After a long deliberation, Austin finally took the loan and sent the money to her.
But the instant he sent the money, she blocked him.
"Hey punk are you there!" A loud voice came from the door as a loud bang came from it jolting Austin back to his senses.
"Who...who is there..." Austin stuttered, swallowing the lump in his throat as a sense of dread ran down his spine.
"You brat, you took my money and yet you want to claim you don't know me!" A hoarse angry voice answered,
"Or should I kick this shabby door of yours down before you open up!"
Hearing this, everything finally clicked in Austin's mind. He had been nothing but a pawn.
A practically complex love scam. It all started the moment he met Chole. And slowly, they had been trying to pull him into this trap.
Cause there was no reason the loan collectors were supposed to come now right after Chole blocked him. They weren't supposed to know. Were they.
Austin swallowed the lump in his throat, his body quivering, but he still managed to answer,
"The Loan is not due, I'll call the police right now if you don't leave..."
"Are you trying to scare us off boy!" The voice outside scoffed and the next moment, a loud bang sounded on the door as they attempted to ram it down.
"I've called the police, it'll be bad if you don't leave," Austin yelled, backing away as the door shook from it hinges
"You dare trick us..."
The hoarse voice laughed, but stopped half way cause sires could be heard outside.
"We'll be back for you..." The voice sneered and soon hurried footsteps could be heard as they rushed away.
Austin also sighed knowing he had just narrowly escaped those men.
Looking at the other side of the room. He rushed to grab the bag by it and rushed outside.
The bag contained all his savings small and big. He had withdrawn the one in the bank the day before.
He had planned to go to the hospital the next day to pay for his brother's surgery.
But who knew if those debt collectors would come back. If they did, they were sure to take the money.
That was something he had saved over the years, he was not going to let anything happen to it.
Just as Austin rushed outside running into the dark alley, a slow unhurried footsteps sounded behind him.
The next moment, about five to six figures surrounded him, their eyes glinting with greed as they stared at the bag in his hands.
"Hey brat, drop that bag and leave, then we can pretend we didn't see anything," One of the thugs spoke, stepping towards Austin, hands in pocket.
Austin swallowed, clutching the bag tightly.
Without another word, tur spun around and dashed into the darkness.
"Bastard!" The thugs cursed and instantly sprinted after him.
In a few breaths they caught up to him and this time, they didn't bother to say anything and just grabbed the bag from Austin.
But Austin was unwilling to let go and fought back.
Before he could make a move, a punch landed right on his face forcing him to drop the bag.
The thugs then proceeded to beat him, leaving him half dead before grabbing the bag and disappearing into the darkness.
Austin laid on the floor, tears streaming down his face unable to make a sound.
The thugs had broken all his limbs and the pain in his body was so much that he couldn't even make a sound at the moment.
At the same time, he was also starting to lose consciousness.
If only...
Austin thought as the pain overwhelmed his thought making his consciousness erode faster.
Just before the last bit of consciousness was lost, a mechanical voice sounded in Austin's mind.
"Ding! Binding Successful!”

Austin asked, his tone calm.Hearing that, Declan's grin grew even wider as a greedy light flashed in his eyes.Earlier in the apartment, he had only brought four men and had been caught off guard by Austin's sudden mov
