That same night, after Jasmine settled the payment at the hospital administration desk, their mother, Alice, was transferred to a Class A inpatient room. Magnus asked Jasmine and Jonas to stay with her, while he returned to the admin counter.

“I need to speak with the hospital director. Privately. Can you help me get in touch with him?”

The two female staffers behind the counter glanced at each other, confused. One of them asked what it was about. Magnus explained that he wanted to report the terrible thing Dr. Flynn had done to his mother.

Coincidentally, Suzy, the nurse who had been assisting Flynn earlier, showed up. She nodded respectfully when she locked eyes with Magnus. Seeing him bring his mother out of a coma had completely changed her perception of him. She started wondering if Magnus might actually be a medical expert himself, but for some reasons he’s hiding his true identity.

Suzy had come over to inform the staff about another patient she’s handling that night. After hearing what Magnus was asking from the staffs, she stepped in and nudged them.

“Just tell Dr. Calvin it’s about the patient who suddenly woke up after three years in a coma. He will surely pay attention to unusual medical events like this,” Suzy said.

The woman behind the admin counter nodded and made the call.

Magnus thanked Suzy. She replied with a polite smile and a slight nod, then excused herself and walked off to resume her duties.

After hanging up the phone, one of the admin staff said to Magnus, “Dr. Calvin is willing to meet you tomorrow morning. You can go straight to his office at ten.”

Magnus nodded and thanked her. As he turned to head back to his mother’s room, he was surprised to see Jonas walking quickly in his direction.

“Where are you going?” Magnus asked.

“Home. Jasmine asked me to bring some clothes for Mom.”

“I’ll go with you. There’s something I want to grab too.”

Jonas didn’t respond. He just walked past Magnus with a scowl.

Magnus didn’t care. He followed his younger brother out through the hospital’s main entrance. Outside, he led Jonas to the red sports car—once owned by Julius’s friends, now his.

“So… how’s life been for you these past three years?” Magnus tried to break the ice once they were inside the car.

Jonas stayed silent. He kept his eyes forward, refusing to even look at Magnus.

Magnus sighed. Jasmine had come around quickly, but clearly, it would take more time with Jonas. He could feel the resentment radiating from his youngest sibling. Jonas still hated him—deeply.

The red sports car pulled away from the hospital. A few seconds later, a black sedan followed.

Inside the sedan were two men. One of them was Frank.

“You sure that’s the same car we saw on the Apple & Poison surveillance footage?” Frank asked.

“Positive, sir. Same model, same color, same plates,” replied the young cop driving the car.

Like the officer, Frank was wearing plain clothes. They were on a covert stakeout. Frank had tracked Magnus down at the hospital after his men followed his trail.

Magnus had no idea he was being watched—or so Frank thought. For him, this was the perfect setup. He planned to collect every piece of information he could about Magnus and his bizarre return… quietly.

...

Meanwhile, back at the Barbosa mansion, in Julius’s bedroom…

Flynn was giving Julius emergency medical treatment under the tight watch of Marco and several private bodyguards.

Flynn had removed the glass shards embedded in Julius’s upper chest and had stitched up the torn and punctured wounds.

But the right wrist? That was another story.

Magnus had shattered the bones there—completely crushed them. No way to fix that without a complex, high-risk surgery.

“When can you undergo the surgery? Tomorrow?” Marco asked coldly.

Flynn wanted to explain that he would need at least a week to prepare everything for a complex surgery like that. But when he looked into Marco’s furious eyes, he swallowed his words and nodded.

He was still reeling from what had happened at the hospital—his humiliating defeat, Magnus’s threats echoing in his ears.

He regretted answering Marco’s emergency call. If he messed up, Marco might just order his guards to beat him to death.

Marco was indeed in a bad mood. He was still waiting for word from Frank on Magnus’s whereabouts. And when Flynn explained the damage to Julius’s wrist, his temper got even worse. He nearly pulled out his gun right then and there to shoot Flynn in the head.

“Make sure the surgery goes smoothly tomorrow,” Marco said coldly. “If it doesn’t, be ready to deal with the consequences.”

Flynn swallowed hard. If he’d known things would go this far—if he’d realized he’d be gambling not just his career but his life—he would’ve turned down Marco’s conspiracy offer three years ago.

Ring! Ring!

Marco’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen. Incoming call from Frank.

“Keep an eye on him,” he said to his guards before stepping out.

He then left Julius’s room, walked into his private office, sat down on the long couch, and answered the call.

“You got something?”

[I’m tailing him right now. He was at the hospital earlier. And guess what? He’s driving Julius’s friend’s red sports car.]

Marco frowned. “What are you trying to say?”

[That bastard must’ve taken the car by force. Combine that with what he did to Julius and his friends at Apple & Poison. Boom! We’re looking at some serious criminal charges here. Why don’t we just arrest him? I can bring in two squads and take him down.]

Marco thought for a second, then said, “Not yet. Stick to the plan.”

[You sure? He doesn’t know he’s being followed. I think it’s the perfect time to hit him.]

“Don’t rush it. We still don’t know what that bastard is planning. Just stay on him.”

[Fine. If that’s what you want.]

“Where’s he headed now?”

[Hmm… looks like he’s going to his family’s house.]

“He alone?”

[No. His younger brother’s in the car with him.]

Marco paused, crossing one leg over the other.

“You know… I wouldn’t mind if you taught him a little lesson. Just make sure he doesn’t see you. Got it?”

[This is what I mean. Okay. Copy that.]

...

Magnus and Jonas exited their house, each carrying a packed bag—one duffel, one backpack.

They had just gotten into the car when Magnus sensed something off. He told Jonas to get out and check the front right tire.

His hunch was right. The tire was flat.

Then Jonas checked the left side—also flat.

‘Coincidence? Doesn’t feel like it,’ Magnus thought, eyes narrowing.

He stepped out, went around to the trunk in the back, and popped it open to check for a spare.

But nope. Nothing was there.

Magnus exhaled. As far as he knew, there wasn’t a repair shop nearby. Should they call a taxi?

“Hey, Magnus. Look at them,” Jonas said.

Magnus closed the trunk and turned toward where Jonas was pointing.

A group of men had just walked onto their property—each carrying a long metal rod.

“Hey, that’s not your car, is it? You know what happens to foolish thieves around here?”

The one who spoke had a round head and a thick build. He grinned arrogantly, tapping the metal rod against the ground.

“Who the hell are you? And what the hell are you doing on my family’s property?” Magnus snapped, stepping in front of Jonas.

The round-headed man smirked. “Who we are doesn’t matter. What we’re here for—you’ll find out real soon.”

His smirk widened. Then he raised the rod high in the air and pointed it forward.

“Cripple them!”

To save time, Magnus hailed a cab.He didn’t realize that while he was standing on the sidewalk waiting, a middle-aged man stepped out of Apple & Poisson and quietly watched him.The moment Magnus climbed into the taxi, the man hurried to the bar’s parking lot, got into his car—a dark green military SUV—and tailed the cab.Inside the cab, Magnus rested a small black case across his lap. It made him uneasy—he wasn’t used to carrying something like that, especially knowing it held twenty million dollars in cash.He noticed the cab driver sneaking glances at the case through the rearview mirror. Magnus couldn’t tell if the man had bad intentions or not, but if he did, Magnus wouldn’t hesitate to break him. After about ten minutes on the road, the cab driver suddenly said, “Sir, I think we’re being followed.”Magnus fought the urge to glance back. “You sure?”The cab driver nodded. “What would you like me to do, sir? Should I speed up? Or maybe take a side road so we can shake them?”Magn

  • Give Me My Money!

The spectators immediately turned their eyes to Jeff. Clara, still covering her nose and mouth with Magnus’s T-shirt, glared sharply at the fat man and stormed toward him.“Jeff, is what Magnus said true? Did you deliberately poison the fighters in the arena?” Clara snapped.Jeff looked at Clara. “No. Why the hell would I do that? What he just said was fucking nonsense!” he denied.“Then explain what just happened! Where did that thick white smoke come from? Weren’t you the one who sprayed it?” Clara pressed. She had a strong reason to be this furious with Jeff. The gas sprayed into the arena seemed dangerous, and if it had harmed Magnus—especially killed him—Clara would be in serious trouble.Krystal Lim, whom she respected, had entrusted Magnus to her personally. It was Clara’s duty to make sure he was safe—at the very least, he could not be allowed to fall victim to such a dirty trick.“That was… a technical error. Yeah, what happened just now was a technical error,” Jeff said, sou

  • I’ll End This In A Minute

Twelve minutes later, the special fight Jeff had announced to the spectators was ready to begin.Magnus stepped into the arena first, met with boos and jeers from the spectators. They were still furious—after all, the Blue Hulk, the fighter whom they bet their money on, had been crushed so easily by Magnus.Just like in his first fight, Magnus didn’t care in the slightest. He focused only on the match ahead. Four opponents at once. His goal: finish this quickly and walk away with tens of millions of dollars. The spectators roared as Jeff called in Magnus’s opponents one by one—Luke the Blade, Kuma the Bear, the Terrifying Golan, the Almighty Xavier. Interestingly, each man carried a weapon.Magnus glanced toward Clara, silently demanding an explanation. She only shrugged and shook her head.Magnus returned his gaze to the four fighters. His suspicion was clear—Jeff had allowed them to carry weapons to make this “special fight” more entertaining. Or perhaps, Jeff simply wanted to ensur

  • Where Did You Learn To Fight Like That?

The spectators erupted, cheering for the Blue Hulk, thinking he’d finished Magnus with a single blow. But then they spotted Magnus—standing tall several meters behind the hulking fighter—and the noise died at once.Magnus looked perfectly fine. He regarded the Blue Hulk with lazy eyes, as if the fight was too dull to bother with.Realizing Magnus was behind him, the Blue Hulk slowly turned.“Fast move,” he muttered. “Not bad for a newbie.”Magnus gave no response. He’d fought thousands of battles, and by now, he could gauge an opponent’s strength from the very first strike. And he was certain: the Blue Hulk was weak. Nothing but raw muscle and brute force—totally useless against him.“I came here to win, but if this fight doesn’t even entertain me, I’ll be disappointed,” Magnus said loud enough for the whole arena to hear. “Show me your real power when you attack me again.”The spectators broke into a low buzz. Some mocked Magnus for his arrogance, others cursed him and prayed for the

  • Is This Your First Fight?

It wasn’t strange at all to see a high-ranking soldier at an illegal fighting pit. But the fact that this one showed up in full uniform—complete with his rank insignia—made Magnus frown. Was this man deliberately trying to be recognized? Magnus wondered.Magnus didn’t know Kauffman, but Clara did. The moment she saw the major glaring at Magnus with a wolfish face, she quickly stepped back, trying to defuse the tension.“Please kindly forgive my friend, Major,” Clara said carefully. “I think this is just a misunderstanding. He didn’t mean to offend you, let alone challenge you.”Kauffman’s eyes slid to Clara. He scanned her from head to toe like a merchant sizing up merchandise before making a purchase.Of course, since Clara had once been a prostitute in a brothel, she had the face and figure for it, and Kauffman swallowed hard the instant he got a good look at her.He finally let go of Magnus’s shoulder. “Next time, watch the fuck where you’re going,” he snapped, giving Magnus one la

  • I Want Him Fired

Brad couldn’t believe what he had just heard.“Wait, wait. You’re telling me that this bum was really sent here by Madam? Are you serious?”Clara’s eyes scanned Magnus up and down. To be honest, even she wasn’t fully convinced—Magnus looked way too ordinary for someone personally dispatched by Krystal Lim.But it was Krystal herself who had called half an hour ago, telling her that a long-haired man named Magnus would be coming to The Oathroom to meet her, and that Clara had to treat him as a special guest.Besides, the handwriting on that note really was Krystal Lim’s.“Just step aside, Brad. Think of him as coming in with me, which means he doesn’t need to show a membership card. He was sent here directly by Madam,” Clara said.Brad glared at Magnus for a moment as if he was about to tear him apart. “This is insane!” he roared. “I’m the operational manager of this elite bar, and I’m not letting some beggar like him walk in. Not even if you’re scheming with him!”Brad shot Clara a s
