At the front gate of the Barbosa estate, the two guards exchanged nervous glances.

Just moments ago, Marco Barbosa had ordered them to electrocute—or even burn—Magnus alive when he tried to leave. Marco had threatened to fire them if they failed.

The problem was, neither of them was sure they could pull it off. Half an hour earlier, they’d seen firsthand the terrifying aura radiating from Magnus. His gaze alone had crushed their courage.

“What’s wrong with you two? Who just called?” Melvin’s voice was ice cold.

He stood there twirling a knife in his left hand and a stun baton in his right. Ever since Bianca had driven the white Lamborghini past the gate, he’d been waiting—preparing himself to face Magnus again.

He’d lost before, easily. But this time, he told himself, it would be different. This time, he’d break Magnus’s arms and legs.

One of the guards reluctantly explained Marco’s orders. Seeing the hesitation written all over their faces, Melvin sneered.

“What, you scared?” he mock

  • Why Do You Want To Destroy Us?

Close to seven in the evening, Jasmine arrived at Brick & Brew, the coffee shop where she had been working for the past two years. She went straight to the employee changing room. After putting on her uniform, she headed to the barista counter."Thanks again, Jasmine. You're a lifesaver," said Gina, who had just finished a customer's order."No problem. But next time, if the situation is reversed, I'm asking you to cover for me, okay?" Jasmine replied."Sure"Gina left the barista counter, and Jasmine took her place. Gina herself headed to the changing room after waving and smiling at Jasmine.Jasmine didn't have the slightest suspicion. She started serving the customer who had just arrived. Everything seemed normal to her, just like any other day.Meanwhile, in the changing room, after putting her uniform in her locker, Gina made a phone call while glancing left and right."She's here," she said after her phone call was picked up. "Now I want my money."[Don't worry. The money will b

  • Turned Down The Offer

Bianca looked annoyed, then glanced at Magnus's tote bag. She remembered Magnus carrying that tote bag when he forced his way into the Barbosa family's residence two days earlier."You're trying to say that tote bag of yours is full of cash? Do you think the money you have in that tote bag is enough for you and your family to live on for weeks or months? I’m telling you, you'll probably run out of money by the middle of next month," Bianca taunted.Magnus gave a wry smile, lowering his hand holding the bag."Say whatever you want. The fact is, I don't need a single cent of your money," Magnus said, then turned to Jonas. "Let's go in.""Wait!" Bianca blocked Magnus who was about to open the gate. "Are you serious about turning down our offer? You and your family need a lot of money, right? Are you sure you want to pretend you have a lot of money like this? If your mom and siblings need a lot of money for their needs later, and you already run out ot money, you'll regret it."Magnus rai

  • I Said Pack Your Things! Now!

Magnus and Jonas came out of the elevator, returning to the lobby of the marketing building. They had completed the purchase process for one of the most expensive apartments at The Grand Mersey. Jonas occasionally shook his head, unable to believe his older brother had just shelled out $52 million in cash."Now we just have to persuade Jasmine and Mom to move here. What do you think—should we start moving today, or wait for their approval?" Magnus asked."I think we should talk to Jasmine first," Jonas replied. "From here, we're going to the hospital, right?""That's the plan. But maybe we'll stop by the house for a bit. I want to put the rest of the money from this tote bag away.""Ah, right. You really shouldn't be carrying wads of cash like that in a tote bag."Jonas's last words were a mix of wonder and sarcasm. Magnus noticed, but he only gave a faint smile."So, what do you think of the apartment we just bought? Do you like it?" Magnus asked."Well, it's really luxurious and s

  • Stop Talking Nonsense

The receptionist couldn't believe what she had just heard. She stared at Magnus and Felix alternately."This man... is he your friend, Mr. Felix?""Did my words sound unclear?""Ah, no, sir. I-I heard you clearly."Despite saying that, the receptionist still doubted what Felix said. How could a man who looked like a slob be friends with a respectable and wealthy man like Felix? The security guard, meanwhile, had a different reaction. He looked relieved after Felix appeared."What's going on? You're in some trouble, buddy?" Felix asked, turning to Magnus.Magnus pointed at his tote bag containing the wads of cash."My brother and I wanted to look at apartments here, but this receptionist tried to drive me away, claiming I couldn't even afford the cheapest apartment. And after I showed her the money I was carrying, she accused me of being a thief," Magnus explained.Felix glanced at the tote bag, then gave the receptionist a cynical look. "Is what my friend said true?"The receptionist

  • You Know This Man, Mr. Felix?

Magnus gave the security guard a scrutinizing look. Was this security guard one of the spectators at his fights the previous night?"No mistake. You're the one who beat the tiger mask and the Dark Lady, right?" The security guard moved closer to Magnus and said it in a low voice.Magnus raised an eyebrow. His guess seemed to be correct. This security guard had watched his fights the night before."You know him?" the receptionist asked the security guard. The security guard looked back at the receptionist and was about to answer, but he suddenly hesitated. He looked again at the wads of cash inside the tote bag on the reception desk. He wondered if that was the money Magnus had gotten from winning the matches the previous night. The security guard moved even closer to Magnus and spoke to him in an even lower voice. "Is that the money you got last night?"Magnus nodded. "Only some of it, though.""I knew it," the security guard muttered. With this, the reason for the eviction requested

  • Is This Stolen Money?

Magnus narrowed his eyes, a mocking smile on his face."A noble? Who is this guy? He just shows up and labels himself a noble?" Magnus asked softly.Jonas moved closer and whispered with a panicked look, "That's Barnes Anderson, the deputy chairman of the Merseyvale Regional Council. He's a powerful man. We should go now. Don't let us get into trouble with him."Magnus heard everything Jonas said clearly, but he didn't give it much thought. He kept his defiant and mocking gaze on Barnes."Hey, you two, hurry up and leave! Don't make Mr. Barnes uncomfortable. He's one of our premium clients," the receptionist said.Magnus chuckled. A premium client? In his eyes, Barnes was nothing more than a pathetic man who relied on money and influence for his power. While he was trapped in that world of monsters and magic, he had faced enemies like that several times, and they were ultimately destroyed by their greed and arrogance."You're still looking at me like that. Are you so stupid that you d
