BANG!
The room door gave way to a heavy pounce, detaching from the metal hold. Nathan, who was advancing towards the almost unconscious Arabella screamed as a piece of wood missed his head by a second. Maxwell stepped into the room, his eyes scanned his surroundings. Arabella was lying on the bed, untouched. Nathan was terrified, holding the walls for support as he stared at him. “I gave you a chance to survive this night, Nathan. It’s seems I was too kind,” Maxwell said with a terrifying tone that made Nathan’s skin crawl, sweat broke out on his forehead. Nathan scrambled to get hold of a lamp beside him. “You… you… how did you get in here?! Security!!!” Maxwell moved faster than the human eye could follow. He grabbed Nathan’s throat and slammed him against the wall, lifting off the floor. The sound of Nathan’s ribs breaking filled the room. “Your security is currently asleep, permanently.” He dragged on the last word, seeing as Nathan’s eyes rolled back in pain and terror. Nathan’s feet dangled in the air, his face turning a bruised purple as Maxwell’s hand tightened on his neck. He tried to claw at the suffocating hold but it was useless, the more he squirmed, the more Maxwell squeezed. “Max…well… please,” Nathan managed to muttered. “You hurt what was mine!” Maxwell growled, slamming him back against the wall again this time a crack formed on the wall. Grabbing his hands, he broke them. “Argh!” He let out a scream, spitting out blood as Maxwell threw him across the room, crashing into the coffee table, shattering into multiple pieces on the floor. “Do you think you are safe just because you are now a lap dog to the Vallis family?” Maxwell spat out, walking towards Nathan as he tried to avoid him but he couldn’t move without the glass shreds piercing into his body causing him even more pain. Nathan’s face went pale as he saw the deadly look in Maxwell’s eyes. This wasn’t the aura of a man who was termed useless. He was something else… something formidable… “Who… who are you?” Nathan stammered, tears and regret brimming in his eyes. “Maxwell, is that you?” Arabella’s weakly voice came from behind him. She was going in and out of consciousness. Maxwell stared back at Nathan and he stomped on his shoulders. The weak man fainted. Death was too easy and quick for a man who had tried to touch his wife and besides, he still needed him for his plans. Looking at his injuries, he would definitely have internal bleeding and will be out cold for a few days or even weeks. Maxwell turned around to lift the unconscious Arabella, his touch becoming gentle. But as he pulled her up, the string of the bracelet on his hand broke and the beads scattered across the floor, a tiny, silver chip followed. Maxwell’s eyes narrowed on it as he froze. … The sun hadn’t fully risen yet as the door to Theodore Zade’s residence creaked open. Maxwell walked inside, his hair disheveled but his expression was hard and calm. In his arms laid the unconscious Arabella, her face paled against his chest. Sienna was seated in the living room, sipping tea while watching a movie. She looked very happy and oblivious to Maxwell’s entry. When she heard the creak of the floorboard, her face turned sour instantly. “You!” She hissed, dropping her teacup on the table. “Why are you bringing her back here? Where’s Nathan? He was supposed to bring her back home after their meeting.” Maxwell ignored her, heading for the staircase. “Hey! Don’t you dare ignore me. I’m talking to you!” She yelled, standing in his way. Sienna looked at her daughter’s limp form and didn’t even show a slight form of motherly concern. “Nathan must have been rough on her but did she at least get the contract?”Latest Chapter

Theodore stood up on seeing him, Arabella ran towards him and looked out the door. She raised an inquisitive brow. “You came alone?”Maxwell gave a stiff nod. “Mike isn’t at the police station and your mother doesn’t want to come home, she still insists on you coming there instead.”“Then, let’s go,” Arabella responded hurriedly.“No,” Maxwell shook his head, holding her arm, stopping her. “You’re not going anywhere, Arabella. If you do, you will be putting all of us in danger.”“What do you mean by that?” She frowned. “You told me earlier that the call was a trap and now you are stopping me from going to bring my mom home. You think she’s a danger to me?”Maxwell’s jaw twitched. “At this point, yes she is,” he responded with mincing words.Arabella glanced at her father who stood there silent watching the whole ordeal play out. “Father, aren’t you going to say anything?”Theodore blinked, staring at Maxwell. He knew his wife and how she can be and also he didn’t really know much abo
Chapter 136: A Lie Or The Truth?
Sienna’s fingers clutched her phone. “I-I do. But—” “No buts!” The voice harshly cut in. “Do what I asked you to or else the next time you will see your son will be in a trash bag!” The call went dead. Sienna’s heart raged in her chest as horror covered her face. What had they gotten themselves into?! “What are doing here, Sienna?” A deep, husky voice loomed over her making her flinch, her phone falling from her eyes. She looked up terrified only to see Maxwell. “What the hell?!” She yelled, hitting him on the chest. “Don’t you have manners? Creeping up on someone like that!” Sienna took in deep breaths as she looked around, her brows furrowing. “Where’s Arabella? Why did she bring you alone?” Maxwell’s eyes narrowed on her. The intensity of his gaze made Sienna to subconsciously take a step back. “Wha… what? Why are you staring at me like that?” “Arabella is at home and she’s not coming.” Sienna’s eyes widened with terror. “No! You are lying. Didn’t she listen to me? I
Chapter 135: A Trap?
Arabella hurriedly entered her car, turning on the ignition. Then, her phone rang beside her. It was Maxwell. “Where are you?” His voice came through, calm but firm. Arabella pursed her lips for a while before responding. She wondered if he knew about what happened with Victoria. But that wasn’t important now. “I’m… leaving the gala,” She replied, already pulling out of the parking lot. “Mum texted me that Mike has been arrested.” A pause came from the other end. “Don’t go there.” Her grip tightened on the steering wheel as her brows furrowed. “What?” “Don’t go there,” he repeated. “Go home.” Arabella frowned. “Maxwell, my brother is in trouble. You don’t expect me to just go home and do absolutely nothing?” “Arabella, just trust me. Do not argue, go home and leave it to me to handle.” Arabella shook her head as she drove, overtaking a car. “No. Not anymore. You have been fixing my family’s mess all on your own without telling me, I can’t put this on you as well!” A deep
Chapter 134: Again?
“Lost? I haven’t lost my dear,” Victoria said with a laugh. “I have just called for an audit of your character and I have proof.” She brought out a document from her bag and waved it in the air, staring at the crowd. “Here’s a document that confirms everything I’m saying here.” One of the guest collected the document from her and the others surrounded him and read through it. “It’s true!” A voice rang out from the crowd few seconds later. Arabella raised a brow, staring at Victoria. “What did you do?” “Security!” Victoria smirked, raising her hand and snapping her fingers in the air. “I believe Mrs. Zade here—who can’t use her husband’s name for reasons best known to her—is using unorthodox methods to—” “That’s enough, Victoria!” A voice sounded within the crowd. It was loud but was enough to attract attention. The crowd parted instantly as a woman stepped forward. Seraphina Vance. The same woman who had acquired Zade’s Group from Fred Zade. Victoria’s brows furrowed. Ev
Chapter 133: Shadows
Theodore straightened up slowly, his hands trembling. He let out a shaky breath as he said quietly. “I will not fail you.” Maxwell’s gaze remained steady. He didn’t care whether Theodore failed him or not. “Don’t do it for me,” he replied. “Do it for your family.” Theodore nodded. … Kensington Holdings. Victoria Kensington paced around her office, her phone in hand, the bright lighting from the floor to ceiling window did nothing to illuminate her dull mood. Her hair looked dishevealed like she had ran her hands through them several times today. Ever since meeting Arabella during the Global business Summit, she had tried her best to jeopardize her company but at the end her moves backfired on her and she is left with a huge mess to clean up or she loses everything. “Alejandro, you guys can’t leave me hanging this way. This is unfair!” Static came from the other end followed by his voice. “Victoria, you did this to yourself,” Alejandro responded. “Your beef with Arabella mak
Chapter 132: Offering Theodore A Chance
Everyone ignored Sienna’s statement and went on to keep eating. Sienna and Mike exchanged peculiar glances throughout the whole breakfast which didn’t go unnoticed by Maxwell. … Theodore sat quietly at the back seat of the taxi, the envelope on his lap. He had read the letter more times than he could count, yet it still didn’t feel real. Forest Hills. A place people talked about with respect. A company which controlled industries. The owner wasn’t well known—yet. Elena Hatfield was in charge of the company, although Arabella had swore that she had nothing to do with the letter, he had second thoughts and right now, he was nervous. His fingers tightened around the envelope. “This must be a mistake,” he muttered underneath his breath. The taxi slowed down and came to complete stop. “We’re here, sir,” the driver said. Theodore looked up. The building stood tall and proud, glass shining under the morning sun. People in clean suits walked in and out with purpose. Expensive car
