Chapter 6: THE SLAP

The humiliation became louder with every ticking second.

"Time up!" The chief receptionist snapped and spun to the Securities. "Crush his leg and drag him out of this place!"

The Securities stood straighter and moved to carry out the command. They gripped their baton tightly, ready to strike.

Derogatory comments whired in the air.

"Teach him a lesson he'll never forget!"

"Let him crawl out with crippled."

"Knock some senses into his dumb skull. A nobody trying to ruin the reputation of Mrs. Carrington didn't deserve Mercy."

Suddenly, the door of the room burst open with a slam against the the wall.

Heads turned in the direction, conversations reduced, everyone's gaze landed on the two women who had just arrived at the lobby.

Gasps rippled through the air.

One man pointed his trembling finger, his eyes wide. "Isn't that Mrs. Carrington? I'm seeing her physical for the first time! Wow, she's even more beautiful in person."

"Mrs. Carrington is here? What she doing here. She was once one of the most beautiful young bachelorette in Valeria before she got married. She's still looking gorgeous." Another woman said.

The lobby paused to stare with shock in their expression, especially some staff employees— some of them were seeing her for the first time since they got employed at the hospital.

Mrs. Carrington doesn't use the door whenever she comes around to supervise the company—Channel is by airborne, private helicopter at the helipad at the top of the building.

Her presence radiated an aura of command without trying. Her gaze landed on Kade at the front of the receptionist desk.

"That braggart is finished!"

"Mrs. Carrington will have no Mercy on him for this insult!"

"It's a huge embarrassment for the Carrington family for a common street beggar to think he has an entitlement to Elena Carrington."

The staff employees sneaked back to their duty, even the securities stiffened in place. Contrary, the Chief receptionist stepped forward confidently to welcome Mrs. Carrington with a wide exciting smile.

"What is going on here?" Mrs. Carrington toned, her voice low, masked with restrained anger.

"Mrs. Carrington it's good to see you in person." The chief receptionist stepped gushed. Her finger snapped at Kade accusingly. "This young man came here to insult you, and he even threatened to have me fired like he employs me here. That is a challenge to your authority. I deeply apologize for bringing you down because of this minor issue, Ma. I was about to remove the nuisance..."

The receptionist thought it was because of her Mrs. Carrington came down.

"Nuisance?" Mrs. Carrington growled, her voice laced with anger she was struggling to control. Her expression was calm but the anger burning inside has the potential to burn down an estate.

Her voice came out trembling like something inside was falling apart. "Did you know who the man you just called a Nuisance is?" Yet, the Chief receptionist was unaware of the trouble that was about to happen to her.

The chief receptionist cast a disdainful back at Kade.

"You see what you've caused? If you make Mrs. Carrington to get angry at me, I swear I'll kill you.."

She whispered to Kade's hearing only, but Mrs. Carrington heard her.

"You will do what?" He voice spiked, unable to suppress the anger she was holding back anymore.

Her arm flew out next, cutting through the air like a whip. Mrs. Carrington's palm connected cleanly with her face, the impact echoed off the wall like thunderclap.

The lobby gasped in shock.
