The baby dragon ate the last of the roast meat in four bites, licked the leaf clean, and looked up at Lingtian as if to say, *More.*"That was supposed to be my breakfast," Lingtian said. "Are you trying to eat me bankrupt?"*More.*It didn't say it directly. It sat on the stone with its tail wrapped around its feet, golden eyes huge, and its belly was already flat again.Lingtian sighed and held out a hand. Lingtian did not move.He lay flat against the cold stone and held his breath. He pushed his Qi down into his stomach and made it as small as he could.*Spread out! Lingtian didn't stay in the cave. He wrapped the egg in his torn jacket, tucked it against his chest, and ran. He went to the rock avoiding open ground. Twice he stopped dead at the sound of voices far below, then pushed on until he saw cave up ahead he breathed a sigh of relief. By the time the sky turned orange, he had managed to reach the cave only to realise it was just a crack in a cliff face, barely wide enough for a man to squeeze through. Inside was a hollow the size of a small room. It was dry and hidden. A stream of spiritual Qi leaked through the stone from somewhere deeper. *Perfect.* He laid the egg on a flat rock. It was warm to the touch. "Isn't a flood dragon suppose to be cold to touch" He sat down opposite it and let out a long breath. He checked the title the quest had given him. *Beast Tamer: Allows a bond to be formed with a beast. A bonded beast grows alongside its master.* "A bond," Lingtian muttered. He looked at the egg. "So you're mine now, huh?"

Lingtian drew all his Qi into the sword tip and came down hard on the lion's head. The beast was already distracted by the girl. Before it could notice him, the sword was buried in its neck.The lion dropped dead instantly.Both Lingtian and the girl collapsed on the ground. The girl pulled out two small bottles and handed one to him."What is this?" he asked."Which sect are you from? You don't even know basic potions?""What potions? What sect? I'm from Jiangnan City."The girl looked at Lingtian, then looked away. "My name is Wei Lian, from the Mystic Sect. If you ever come to my world, take this token and look for me." She held out a small token. Then she broke a scroll and disappeared."What the fuck?
