Chapter Five 

Lydia knew that there was no way she could run out of there and all she needed to do was chase him away before Jared arrived else he might get a second thought of marrying her. 

“Lucas, what do you want? Why can't you just leave me, or is it so difficult for you to understand that I do not want to ever set my eyes on you, you disgust me so much that I get this urge to puke”

“Please Lydia, I have money now, we can finally start our family and live a happy life” 

She scoffs sarcastically, the metaphor in his words was so hilarious that she could not help but laugh out loud. 

“You have money! You Lucas can not ever be rich in this lifetime or the next no matter how many jobs you work and what I hear you say about a happy family, you must be indeed delusional to think that anyone can be happy with you”

“Lydia can you take it more easily, that was too harsh on him, he is also human and has emotions like we do” Sheila queried. 

“Will you shut up! Who do you refer to as human, Lucas here is just an animal and deserves no pity”.

“You are right, I do not deserve any pity but please just take me in, I am ready to do anything you want to make you happy, anything at all please just take me in”

He went on his knees and held out to the edge of her dress but Lydia kicked him so hard on his stomach that he fell as he clutched onto his stomach while coughing hard. 

“Lucas I think that it is time you leave here else you might get hurt, Lydia no longer wants you, why can't you accept that fact”

Sheila felt so much sympathy for him as she helped him up on his feet, the other girls who had been watching the scene unfold immediately walked up towards them. 

“Lydia, who is this, is he a friend?”

“A friend you say, there is no way in this world that I can ever have a friend like him, he is a beggar that has come here  to beg me for money, don't you all see how he held onto my dress and kept begging me for money”

She gritted out the words like they had no emotions and all the girls laughed out so loud that their rips were almost cracking. 

“Oh my God! This is so hilarious, I think we needed this fun” One of the girls exclaims as she dips her hand into her purse and brings out a few bucks. 

“Here beggar, here is some money” She called out to Lucas, and as he lifted his gaze upon her, she threw the money on the floor while the others chuckled. 

Lucas shamelessly went on his knees and picked up the money, the other girls seeing how much fun this was, began to spray him a few bucks and Lucas did not stop picking them up as they laughed out loud. 

Lydia was not finding it funny, she pursed her lips and furrowed her brows while avoiding his gaze as the other girls made a mockery of him while some from afar could not help but keep laughing. 

Sheila was finally fed up with what was happening, she dragged him up from the ground where he was consistently picking up the coins they were throwing and held him hard while scurrying out of the location. 

“Let me be!” Lucas yelled out at Sheila. “I am not leaving here unless Lydia accepts me”

“Accept you, what is he talking about?” The other girl asked, directing her question at Lydia who was so embarrassed that she could not even lift her head. 

“Please Lydia, whatever it is you want me to do, I will do it for you, I have money now and I am ready to give it all to you”.

Just then the director stepped into the location and everyone watched him stride towards Lucas. 

“What the hell is this nobody doing here!!” He growled. 

“Jared! Welcome, we have consistently asked him to leave, but this dirt of a human refuses”.

Lydia got on her feet and placed a kiss on his cheek as he spoke. 

“It is alright, let's see if he is going to leave now or not”. Jared began to kick him hard with his boots that were so thick and Lucas clasped on his stomach, wincing hard in pain. 

Jared did not stop even after hitting him consistently, his boot was hard and piercing deep into his stomach as Lucas grunted loudly, trying to take in all the pain. 

Lydia sat there with a blank emotion not showing any signs of pity although she was feeling the collision hard, She had met Lucas at a time when she was nothing and the only thing she had was her dream of becoming an actress. 

Lucas held her tightly as he worked extra hard in an attempt to provide her with all she needed to become an actress, he footed all the bills through her acting school and when she finally became an actress, she felt that he was below her standard. 

Sheila bit her lips hard, not able to withstand the pain Lucas was going through, she rushed over to him and shielded him with her body from all the pains that Jared finally had to quell. 

“Sheila what do you think that you are doing, do you want to lose your job? ”

“Please Sir, have mercy on him, he is going to leave this premises right now, I assure you”

“He should now or else I might just be forced to do the unthinkable”.

Sheila immediately hauled him up, his breath was high, and there were traces of blood on his lips as he coughed and she helped him out of the premises where he was finally out of reach of everyone in the cast. 

“I am so sorry Lucas because I can't even begin to imagine what you are feeling, but Lydia is out of your reach and you can't have her ever again, please let her go no matter how hard it is going to be”

“Why… why… Why are you….. Helping me, she is your friend”

“You were also my friend and I can clearly remember how hard you worked to make sure she reached this level, if I was lucky enough to have someone like you then, maybe I would be on the same level as she is and not have to go through the stress of being her errand girl. Lydia lost a bar of gold while picking stones”

Sheila expressed and a flash of regret filled her face. “Thank you… so much… I will never forget this day, the ladder that Lydia wanted to climb desperately will be climbed by you.”

“It's fine… Here is some money, find something to start for yourself or maybe a place to stay for the main time until you can stand on your own”

She held out the money to him and as he stared down at the cash she held it with sympathy in her eyes, and he wondered how two people of opposite behaviour could become friends like this. 

“Thank you so much, Sheila, but I don't need this money, I will take it as seed and germinate it for you” He replied and accepted the money before leaping away while still clutching onto his stomach which was deeply in pain and at the same time smiling. His entire body was filled with bruises and he felt extremely sore. 

Sheila went back inside as everyone was looking at her while whispering to themselves and making a mockery jest at her. 

“Sheila, what was that you displayed? You are such a betrayal, how could you move closer to him?  Your plan has been revealed, you want Natasha and her friends to mock me, I have perfected everything not to create the impression of familiarity with him and you ruin everything by moving closer to him ” Lydia barked as soon as she hurried to her side. 

“What, were you expecting that I would sit that and watch the director almost murder him, I am sorry, but not everyone is as vicious as you are”

The words slid out of Sheila's mouth and a loud smack landed on her face. 

“How dare you! Because I have been helping you get some supporting roles on set, is that what gives you the right to think that you can speak to me in such a manner? I was going to ask Jared to give you the role as the second female lead in his new upcoming blockbuster, but since you have decided to act so cocky, then you can forget about it”.

“No… Please, Lydia, I need to be in that movie, you know how much I need the money for my mother's treatment”

“You want to be in a blockbuster and yet you were acting so cocky right now calling me vicious, go on your knees and beg me”

“What!! You want me to kneel right here in front of the entire crew?”

“What! You think that you are a big shot right now and can't kneel before me, then forget about it”

“Wait!! I will knee”. Sheila stared around at everyone who had their full attention there including the cameramen that were previously setting the scene all stopped to stare at them. 

Sheila slowly went on her knees, the tears building up but she held herself from crying because that would only increase the humiliation. 

“I am sorry Lydia for disrespecting you” She lowered her head and let the words out slowly as it was barely audible to anyone else except for Lydia. 

Lydia let her lips curl into a sly smile before she spoke again. “That is enough, get up and go get me a glass of juice with ice, it is hot out here”.

Sheila immediately got on her feet and dashed out of there.
