The Night before Departure (IV)

Alton and Maria appeared before the crowd standing on the staircase, looking down at the people in the main lobby.

People in the lobby saw Alton; they went silent, but they also saw a person standing next to him, and looking closely, they recognized that it was Maria, but now she was not in her maid uniform.

As Alton saw them all staring at him and Maria, he opened his looked at them and then said, "You all must be wondering why I have called you all here, right?"

All the servants nodded to this because two maids came and informed all the staff that the young master was calling everyone in the main lobby, and they had to obey the order because even if they didn't like it, he was their young master.

Alton looked at them and then continued, "You all must know by now that I will be leaving the mansion tomorrow for a journey to the north, right." All the servants stayed silent "you also must have also heard today that the Teren meaning has adopted Maria that she will be your young miss from today."

All the servants nodded to this but stayed silent Alton then asked, "You all were informed of this about an hour ago if I am not wrong, right." The butler of the mansion, who was also standing in the crowd, walked forward and answered, "That's right Young Master."

A smile appeared on Alton's face as he saw that the sheep were coming to the hunter himself; then Alton looked at the butler and said in an angry tone, "So tell me, how dare you call sister by her name while giving maids the order to open the room."

As all the people heard this, they immediately lowered their heads, including the butler; as the butler looked toward Alton and was about to say something, Alton looked him in the eyes, "Did you call Sister by her name or not."

The butler was constantly sweating because he had made a big mistake when he lowered his head. "Sorry, Young Master, this will not happen again."

Alton looked at the butler "Uncle Butler if you don't respect the Teren family then the rest of servants will also not do it and why are you apologizing only to me when you have disrespected Sister Maria do you still think that she is a maid and not your young miss."

Butler got on his knees, looking at Maria, "Young Miss, please forgive me; it was just a slip of the tongue; it will not happen again, I promise."

Maria was standing speechless, and this was the same butler who had just given the order and nothing else, but Maria replied, "Okay, I forgive you; make sure this never happens again."

The butler smiled and said, "Thank you, Young Miss, for forgiving me." Alton smiled and then said, "Although Sister has forgiven you, you will still get punished by father after tomorrow as there is still a lot of work to do."

The butler nodded to this while thinking, 'Master will just lightly punish me, so no problem there.' Alton smiled and said, "Okay, all of you get to work."

Everyone nodded and then went back to their work; as Alton and Maria turned and went back to the room, they noticed their parents standing there. As Alton saw them, a smile appeared on his face, and Alton and Maria said simultaneously, "Hello, Father, Mother."

Aldwin looked at Alton and asked, "Good job." Aldwin and Aria both had a smile on their faces, and hearing this, Alton nodded. "Well, this had to be done, but Father, Mother, investigate the butler. I just got some information from Maria, and he seems to be doing corruption."

Aldwin and Aria smiled and disappeared as they looked at Maria, and Aria asked, "Dear. Is what Alton is saying right?"

Maria nodded and told all three of them, "The Butler will cut our wages, buy goods at a high price because he is cooperating with the merchant, and he gets a cut for himself. The butler also sexually harassed the maids and told us that if we were to tell anyone, we would be thrown out of the mansion." Aldwin and Aria were shocked to hear this, but Alton already knew that he was not as shocked as them.

Aldwin got angry and was about to walk and confront him, but Alton said: "Father, not tonight, just wait until tomorrow; then after we leave, you can do whatever you want with him." Aria and Maria nodded to this, so Alton went back to his study to work so that he could divert his anger.

Aria smiled and patted both Alton and Maria and then went back to her study to work. Alton and Maria then walked back to their rooms, and Maria was constantly looking at Alton, wanting to ask something; seeing this, Alton smiled and looked at her. "Wait, I will tell you everything you need to know during the journey."

Maria nodded, and then they both entered their respective rooms.

As Alton entered the room, he immediately went and laid down on the bed and thought, 'Lucian, your days are numbered in the Mansion; you may think you have saved yourself, but you are wrong and are in for it.'

Thinking this, Alton dozed off because he was tired of the dinner and all the other events, as this was a very hectic but fulfilling day for him.

Maria POV

As Maria entered the room, she looked around and thought, 'I had never thought that one day Teren's family would adopt me.'

Maria was happy, but she decided, 'I will never let Father, Mother, and Alton think that making me their family was wrong I will also become powerful so that I can aid the Teren family in the future.'

Maria changed her clothes to a night dress and then laid down on the bed and entered the dream world as this was a long day for her, and she was also tired.
