WHO DARES LOCK MY BOARDROOM
Darius however believed that if he could keep Ethan under supervision, his lawyers would have enough time to decide how to contain the growing scandal. However, Darius had made one serious mistake. He believed he was dealing with an ordinary temporary employee who had become too confident because of government support. He had no idea that the young man standing before him was Ethan Xavier, the Supreme Leader of Verdanis, whose authority extended far beyond anything the Verda family could command. The very person Darius was attempting to detain possessed the power to challenge his family's position among the Khagan business families.Ethan understood exactly what Darius was trying to accomplish. He could see that the acting chairman wanted to silence him without making the decision appear unlawful before the other directors. Nevertheless, Ethan chose not to reveal his identity or challenge the order further. He simply watched as Darius handed the signed document to the security chie
THE ORDER THAT WILL RUIN DARIUS VERDA
The security guard at the executive floor glanced at Ethan's badge and shook his head. Its access light was still red, although the summons on Ethan's phone carried Darius Verda's name. After a call to the board secretary, the guard opened the visitor gate and escorted him down the corridor.Inside the boardroom, twelve directors sat around a polished table. Darius occupied the chair at its head, the one Hilton Verda had used before disappearing. No board vote had confirmed Darius as permanent chairman, but he looked comfortable in his senior brother's place.“Ethan Ward,” Darius said, without offering him a seat. “I asked for the temporary clerk who brought government investigators into our business. I see you decided to come wearing the same badge.”“The badge was issued by your company,” Ethan replied. He stopped at the empty chair near the door but remained standing. “Your message said I was required to attend. I'm here to hear what you want.”“I want an explanation,” Darius said
THE MAN WHO FIRED HIS OWN FATE
The two officers approached Ethan. One reached toward the device, but Ethan moved it away without raising his voice.“This tablet contains government inspection records,” he explained. “You should not confiscate it without proper authorization. I suggest you confirm your instructions before proceeding.”“Stop listening to him!” Malcolm shouted. “I gave you an order. Remove him immediately!”Before either officer could touch Ethan, the conference room door opened.Four men entered, led by a government investigator carrying an official document. Their arrival immediately drew everyone's attention.“Malcolm Rane?” the investigator asked, looking directly at him. “We are government investigators. We have a warrant requiring your arrest.”Malcolm stared at the man in disbelief.“My arrest?” he repeated. “There must be some mistake. I am the one dealing with an employee who has been interfering with this company.”“There is no mistake,” the investigator replied. “The warrant concerns suspec
YOU ARE FIRED, ETHAN WARD!
Ethan stared at the dismissal order on his computer screen. His access to VerdaLife's records had been blocked, and the name of the man responsible was displayed beneath the document. Malcolm Rane had finally decided to act against him. Before Ethan could close the page, two security officers approached his desk. Several employees looked up from their computers, sensing that something serious was about to happen.“Mr Ward, Mr Rane wants you in the procurement conference room,” one of the officers announced. “He has instructed us to escort you there immediately.”“Is there a problem?” Ethan asked, calmly placing his phone in his pocket. He noticed the other officer watching the verification tablet beside his computer.“You will hear everything from Mr Rane himself,” the officer replied. “Please come with us. We have been instructed not to leave without you.”Ethan picked up his tablet and followed them.Inside the conference room, Malcolm stood before several senior procurement employe
THE NUMBER BEHIND THE ATTACK
The surviving attacker pushed the photograph away before the investigator finished speaking. His wrists rested on the interview table, and the scars near one knuckle were still healing. “I told you what happened on that road,” he said. “I don't know the man who hired us.”“You know the man who paid you,” the investigator replied. He placed a second photograph beside the first. “You identified him during your earlier interview, but you never explained how he gave you the instructions.”The attacker stared at the man's face. “He met us at a rented office. No names, no questions. He said the target would be carrying a verification tablet, and that we had to recover it.”“Who gave him the target's route?” the investigator asked. He kept his voice even, although the man opposite him had helped arrange an ambush. “A seven-man team doesn't appear on an inspection road by accident.”“He said somebody at VerdaLife was helping,” the attacker answered. His eyes flickered toward the recording cam
THE SIGNATURE BEHIND THE KILLERS
The missing medicine had been sold elsewhere, but someone had signed to say it reached the hospital. Ethan studied the restricted approval reference as trolley wheels squeaked outside the consultation room. His phone rang before he could examine it further.“I’ve authenticated the transfer record,” Naomi said. “Elias preserved the entry, and Lorne obtained lawful access to the audit history. The destination changed before the hospital received anything.”“Who authorized it?” Ethan asked, leaning against the desk. “And please tell me you have more than a name on a document.”“An approval credential assigned to Malcolm Rane,” Naomi replied. “The timestamp matches the diversion. We still need proof that Malcolm personally used it.”“Keep that distinction clear,” Ethan said. He thought about the four hundred and eighty missing vials. “What did Felix Dorn do afterward?”“His company certified the original delivery,” Naomi explained. “Then the hospital’s procurement department approved a re
