Chapter 04 - Chairman of the Emerald

The next morning, after making his own breakfast before anyone in the family was awake, Roger rode his bike to the Emerald group's office.

He parked his bike on the side of Emerald's parking lot and made his way inside.

Roger directly walked into the elevator, the gaurd noticed roger but it seemed like Merlin has already made the necessary arrangements as he just bowed to Roger.

Roger who entered the elevator, pressed the button with the highest number which was the 9th floor, where the chairman's office was located.

The door of the elevator closed and in a short time, he found himself in front of the 9th floor.

Merlin had already made all the arrangements for him here at Emerald to take over as the Chairman and she personally had selected Pearl for the role of vice-chairman to further look into the business matters.

Though she was unknown as Pearl inside the 'BlackStrom' organization, she had another identity in the outside world as Lilly.

She had earned her reputation as a renowned businesswoman in the White bridge. Combining her business capability with her beauty and charm, she was an extremely capable individual. 

As if to back up her reputation, she was the one who single-handedly overthrew the Old chairmen of the Emerald, though the support of the 'Blackstrom' and Merlin's plans played a big role, it could be said that she was the main force behind the Emerald group takeover.

Now that Backstrom has complete control over Emerald, they decided to seat her in a position where she would be able to work independently and make decisions on her own.

Including Pearl, there were another three individuals whom Merlin personally taught and raised, who were all at the level of Executives in the Organization.

And above the executives were the Pillars, there were seven including Merlin and the leader himself, Roger.

They were the ones that made Blackstrom along with Roger. With a majority of their consent, Pearl had officially taken the Vice-chairman seat as Lilly.

Her goal this time was to run the Emerald company and to support her leader, Roger whose identity will be kept secrate.

To be honest, Pearl was against the idea of her becoming the vice-chairman, it was already a big headache for her to operate the Blackstorm, and she wasn't sure that she would be able to handle both of them.

But due to the persuasion of the other executives and the Dark King himself, she accepted it, more than that Merlin herself has promised that she would help her is needed, which gave her more than the encouragement she needed.

Roger who exited the elevator, entered the chairman's office but as he expected, the devil was already there.

"Welcome Mr.Roger or should I say The dark king?", Merlin was seated in the chairman's seat with a playful smile.

She was as playful as ever.

It was the first time that Roger has entered the company. Even though he was the one who brought up the idea of the takeover of Emerald, he didn't really know much about it.

Looking at Merlin, he had to admit that she was a very alluring and stunning young lady.

Now that he remembered it she was about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, just 2-3 years older than himself.

But he didn't show his admiration for her outside as he casually made his way to the chairman's seat.

Sitting down above the chairman's desk, he looked at Merlin.

"Merlin, you know that I can't come into the office often right? so, I will be once again relying on you to look over the company on my behalf. In addition, I don't need to tell you that you need to keep my identity a secret right?"

Merlin was the first member of the Blackstorm, that joined Roger. So she was the one who was with him for the longest time and also it could be said that she knew everything about him. If she had some ill intentions, it wasn't hard for her to overturn the whole organization since Roger was there for just name, and the ones who ran the Organization were the six pillars including herself.

"I know, I know, you will be busy playing with your beautiful wife and we have to suffer to just keep it all together for you right?"

Even though she spoke out harsh words, there wasn't even an ounce of dismay in her words.

"You know why I am doing this, don't you Merlin?"

He asked giving a wry smile to her.

Merlin in response came near him, placing both of her hands on his shoulders, "I will let it slide this time, instead you better keep the promise that you made nine years ago"

A sudden silence ensued at the mention of a promise that was once made between the two of them.

The silence was broken, when the newly appointed Vice-Chairman, Lilly aka Pearl,  knocked on the door and said, "Sir, a man named Joseph Moore and his fiance are here to see you"

Instead of Roger, who answered her was Merlin as she said immediately, "We are having a meeting now, let them wait"

With the mention of a familiar name, Roger instantly asked, "Don you know Joseph Moore?"

"The Moore family is one of our partners and several of their major projects are linked to our company, I heard they were here several times, They said they will be here to see the chairman today"

She explained to Roger, Sitting beside him on the table.

At this point, they both looked like love-sick couples rather than the leaders of a company.

Hearing that a slight grin found its way into Roger's face.

With a grin plastered on his face, he said in a cold tone, "Stop any business with the Moore family this instant, halt all the ongoing and preparatory projects with them. Make sure that the Moore family wouldn't even be able to earn a single cent from our company, that's my first Order as the Chairman"

hearing a sudden order from Roger, Merlin was shocked but she didn't say anything in opposition but just sighed.

"It seems like this man Joseph has offended you, what a poor thing!"

Merlin was as calm as usual without even a bit of sympathy towards Joseph's family.

"Don't worry, I will order all the staff to stop the collaboration with the Moore family!"

Roger nodded as he got up from his seat to make his way out but halted at the door, "Oh! and make sure to say to them that " Emerald doesn't do business with beggars".
