Awakening and Soul weapons.

A giant sand worm popped out of the sand. It appeared to be in a battle with another creature. The battle was rapidly heading towards where the students and Mr. Del were hiding. “Spread out, and try to not get caught up in the middle of the fight.”, Mr. Del ordered the students. Darius' eyes lit up at this moment. This was his chance to isolate himself from the crowd.

Unfortunately for him, Raha and Somir ran right after him.

“What the fuck?”, Darius cursed in his mind. Darius picked up the pace as he tried to pull away from them. That was not meant to be though as they just got closer and closer to him. This was the difference between those who had awakened and those who had not.

“Crack”, “crack”, “crack”. Suddenly, the opponent of the giant sand worm, a giant desert centipede, crashed through three pillars in pursuit of the giant sand worm.

This sent huge chunks of the pillars flying everywhere.

Luckily, a huge chunk flew straight towards Raha and Somir. This caused them to change paths, allowing Darius to run out of their sights.

After fleeing for several minutes, Darius finally stopped to catch his breath. He let out a sigh of relief, he had finally managed to escape from Raha and Somir. He began to trudge through the sand, searching for a place to begin cultivating. After several minutes of walking , Darius found a perfect spot. Several pillars collapsed on each other forming a cave like structure.

Darius walked up to it, he then circled around it to make sure the environment was safe. He kicked the structure several times to make sure it would not cave in on itself whilst he was cultivating.

After several rounds of this, he finally entered the cave. He began to cultivate. The elemental essence in this area was sub par compared to that of the one in the chambers Darius used in the northern continent, but compared to that of the village, it was far better.

Darius' focused on his elemental sea, he began to attack the barrier with elemental essence.

“Crack, crack, crack, crack, crack, crack”. Several additional cracks began to form on the barrier.

After about three hours, Darius opened his eyes in frustration. Cracks upon cracks formed but the barrier just would not break. Darius stepped out of the cave, he let out a breath of turbid air.

He stretched for a while then entered the cave once more. This time, he decided to meditate for a while before cultivating. After several minutes of meditation, Darius began to cultivate with clarity and new found resolve.

Three more hours later, with a loud “boom”, the barrier shattered as Darius began to levitate. The eyes of the outworlder appeared once more. Darius opened his eyes and with his x-ray vision, he could see several of his colleagues and various creatures in the surrounding area with multiple spots of red and green on all of them.

The red spots highlighted the strengths of the creatures, signifying danger to Darius. Whereas, the green spots highlighted the weaknesses and areas Darius could attack to deal critical damage.

Darius switched between the eyes of the outworlder and his normal vision. He could finally control it. He burst out laughing despite the dangerous creatures around him. He was evidently ecstatic.

He was brought back to his senses after hearing a loud roar in the distance. It seemed the battle between the beasts still persisted.

Darius then focused on his elemental sea, the elemental sea looked like an ocean with 10% of it filled with water, which was the elemental essence.

The area of Darius' elemental sea was extremely spacious. It was several times larger than what was considered normal. The average size of the elemental sea was about 363 km² of surface area.

Darius’ elemental sea spanned 3630 km², ten times larger than the average. This presented a huge opportunity to become stronger, but for Darius to achieve that, he would have to work several times harder than everyone else.

Next, it was time to check his soul weapon. Since he was an outworlder, his soul had the properties of two fused souls. Hence, he had two soul weapons.

The first one appeared to be a composite sword. It was a sword from a popular game Darius used to play in his past life. One could say it also resembled a weapon used by a character from the popular anime “Bleach”, but when the style was compared, it was closer to the one in the game.

It was an extendable sword that could be thrown around like a whip once swung hard enough, otherwise, it could be used as a normal sword.

The second weapon was a three metre long blacked out linked chain. Darius looked at it with a frown on his face. He wondered how and what he was going to use this for.

Darius' consciousness left his elemental sea. He decided to materialise the chain, after it appeared, Darius realised that it was very heavy.

He coiled it around his arm and swung the remaining part around trying to feel out how he would use it.

“Whooshing” sounds could be heard all around, the chain caused sounds of whiplash all over. Darius was beginning to enjoy himself a bit too much.

He swung the chain a bit too hard and lashed himself in the back. Darius immediately bit on to the chain and let out a muffled scream in order not to attract any beasts.

After he calmed himself, he began to wonder if the chain had any abilities. First, he decided to see if he could increase its length, and much to his surprise, the chain started to extend with more links forming on it.

The three metre long chain had now become nine metres long. Darius realised that a bit of his elemental essence had been used.

Next, he decided to see if he could command the chain to carry out orders as it reminded him of a certain “hellfire chain”. He lay it on the floor and ordered it to wrap around his body. After several minutes of nothing happening, Darius picked it up.

After picking it up, Darius shrunk it back to its normal size. Suddenly, he heard clattering sounds in the distance. As he became wary, the chain stiffened into the likeness of a metal staff. He looked at it in amazement before trying to see what made the clattering sounds.

He hid behind a pillar and saw what appeared to be a young giant desert centipede walking about in the distance. It was most likely searching for food.

Darius decided to hide until it left. Unfortunately for him, that was not going to happen as the centipede began to rush towards where he was hiding. Darius knew a battle was inevitable.

The centipede charged right through the pillar as Darius jumped out of its way. It began to rush towards Darius once again. This time, Darius swung his “chain rod” towards its legs, sending two of them flying. The centipede let out a squeal before rushing forward once again.

Darius also rushed towards it this time, he decided to pole vault on top of it then stab it in the head. What he failed to notice was that his “chain rod” had become flexible so as to aid his vault onto the centipede.

Since he did not account for its flexibility as it was rather stiff, he realised it too late and was sent flying way over the centipede, crashing into a broken pillar.

He begun to cough uncontrollably as the centipede turned around and walked smugly towards him.

Darius was on the verge of losing consciousness. He sat up as the centipede inched closer. In desperation, he summoned the eyes of the outworlder he saw various weak points on the centipede. Once it got close enough, it pounced towards him, at the same time, Darius' “chain rod” extended, piercing the centipede in the head, killing it on the spot. And with that, Darius fell unconscious.

About thirty minutes later, Darius regained consciousness. He found the centipede sprawled beneath his feet. His chain had coiled around his arm, seemingly on it's own.

Darius realised that this chain was indeed useful to him. It reacted to his thoughts in the heat of battle and adjusted accordingly. It would take some getting used to though, as Darius almost got killed for not knowing what it was capable of.

He sent the chain back to his elemental sea and materialized his composite sword instead. He wondered if it could also do something unique. Unfortunately for him, it couldn't, but that was okay. Having one special weapon was better than having none.

He decided to use the composite sword for everyday battles, as outworlders were known to have strange soul weapons.

Although the composite sword was very strange compared to the chain, once people saw what the chain could do, they would most likely guess that Darius was certainly an outworlder.

The problem Darius faced now was familiarising himself with his weapons. He couldn't use the chain in public since he was not powerful enough to prevent his death if he was discovered. If he stayed in the village, he would be severely restricted and would not be able to familiarise himself with his weapons.

This got Darius thinking, he considered the benefits of staying in the village and the benefits of roaming the desert. Even though roaming the desert was far more dangerous, he would level up quicker.

Added to that was the fact that he would not remain at one place for an extended period of time.

If he stayed in the village, he would gain protection from the crowd, although he would be a sitting duck when Barthon and his men came around.

Darius mulled over this for sometime before deciding what he was going to do.

Darius decided to not return to the village. He would use this chance to leave. Since there was so much chaos around, people of the village would most likely conclude that he had been killed and devoured by beasts.
