William alighted from his truck and found his way through the entrance of the antique store by the side of the street.

The phone in his hand buzzed but seeing who the caller was, a slight frown formed on his face.

His grandfather's secretary was calling him again and what else would she ask if not for him to sign the inheritance papers and return to the family?

He was the sole heir of the Miller Conglomerate, a global powerhouse with control over significant resources and subsidiary companies across the world until an incident years ago.

William ignored the call and slid the device into his pocket before continuing to work.

Did they really think they could sweet-talk him into returning to his former position?

If his ring hadn't been activated, they would have no reason to pressure him according to the rule but now they had one.

Why is that old man even making an effort?

Have they all forgotten the reason he left five years ago?

His grandfather who was supposed to be the head of the family had exposed his parents to an attack which got them killed.

He wasn't directly involved in the killing but he saw it coming and chose to ignore it.

Betrayal from one's family was something that can't be ignored.

Do they really think he would forget what that old man did because he was now offering the entire future of the Conglomerate group?

His grandfather has yet to admit his wrong and sees the death of his parent as a punishment they deserve.

William was welcomed into the store by the loud commotion and looked ahead to see a group gathered around at the cashier section of the store.

There was no one around to assist him so he couldn't help but turn to a little girl in the store and demand what was going on.

"A lady came here and was asking for a discount from the store manager, she got into a fight with him and broke one of the expensive antiques in the store," The little girl explained, "They want her to pay for it. I'm waiting for my mother"

She folded her arms and started to walk away from him.

William sighed, "So that was it?"

"You! You must pay before leaving today! "

"You cannot be arrogant here!"

"Do you know how much the Sterling Silver antique cost?"

The commotion from the crowd grew louder and he decided to return later for the inquiry he came for but,

"I'm not paying for anything. Do you have an idea of who my family is? My boyfriend will destroy this little store of yours if you dare to offend me today" The screaming voice of a young woman could be heard all over the store.

William halted his movement and turned around.

Did he just hear wrongly? That voice was definitely familiar.

He hurried to the area of the commotion and strained his eyes to see the focus of everyone.

Behold, It was Anna, his arrogant sister-in-law.

She must have gotten into trouble with that attitude.

Now, the explanation of the little girl made sense.

Anna was truly capable of causing trouble around.

Well, the Wilson didn't see him as one of them so this wasn't his headache.

He had no reason to involve himself with Anna who always stared down at him in disdain.

He turned around to leave but then, "William! Brother-in-law! "

His name resounded from behind and he halted his movement sharply.

The commotion died down instantly and there was a pin-drop silence.

Slowly, he spun around and found the gaze of everyone was focused on him.

Why?

Anna was literally pointing in his direction with a cunning smile across her lips.

"Everyone, that's my brother-in-law and he would pay for the broken antique" She was glad to have seen him at the last second and took the opportunity to break free from the grip of the store security.

Under William's shocked gaze, she walked up to him and said, "Brother-in-law, you'll pay for the antique, right?"

When has she ever called him brother-in-law?

She was definitely up to something.

Anna sneered internally in disdain and signaled William with her eyes to agree with her.

"What antique?" He asked, looking around.

Her face twitched uncontrollably and she whispered, "You loser! Make yourself useful for once and help me"

William lowered his voice and replied, "But I don't have any money"

Truly, he had nothing on him at the moment and was only here to inquire.

"Yes, I know," She snapped and then said slowly, "Agree to pay for me, I'll go out and call my sister to send the money"

The calm demeanor on William's face transformed into a frown.

Did she really think of him as a slow fool?

His sister-in-law was obviously trying to put the responsibility on him and run away from the store.

"You! Hurry up and pay now, you're her brother-in-law, right?" The burly store owner who looked like he was going to burst out of his suit stepped forward to roar with the store security guards by his sides.

William couldn't refute Anna as his sister-in-law because technically, she was.

" Why don't you call my wife here? She would pay for you" He told her but this was heard by the surrounding group.

"So that's it, I knew this was a ploy, he can't pay. He can't even pay to change his shoes" A woman who stood to the side said with a loud voice and everyone looked down to see the big hole poking out of the old brand shoe worn by Williams.

They burst into uncontrolled laughter now that they realized how shabbily he was dressed.

Someone who couldn't wear decent clothes wanted to pay for an antique that cost more than a hundred thousand dollars.

Anna's face flushed in embarrassment and she quickly distanced herself from him.

This loser did nothing but disgrace them.

If not for the outrageous price the store owner demanded, she would have called her sister to send the money.

Tracey would definitely not pay such an amount for a broken antique.

This trash brother-in-law of hers should have simply agreed to pay so she would run away from these people.

The store owner glared fiercely at them and threatened, "If you don't pay for this antique today, I'll break your legs and hands”
