Chapter Two

Chapter Two

Mael arrived at the city bank, stepping out of the cab that aided his transportation after settling his bill. The card flipped within his palm, he glanced down at it and at the enormous building in front of him.

He leaped into motion, approaching the entrance, quite focused he wasn’t conscious of his surroundings. He strode briefly in a hurried pace, arriving at the gate his gaze collapsed on a familiar figure beside a strange one.

He halted on his tracks, blinking his eyes to be sure of who he saw and he wasn’t dreaming. It was his wife, she walked with a strange man cracking a wide smile to whatever the man was telling her.

They soon neared the gate and caught the paled gaze of Mael assessing them. The glee within her eyes instantly faded as she turned sour at the sight of Mael.

“What are you doing here?” Blair asked, eyeing him from the tip of his scalp straight to the end of his toe in a disgusted look.

Mael scoffed inwardly, getting over the harsh reality of her wife indeed cheating on him, “I’m sure you’re not asking that?” Mark questioned back, creasing his brows as he morphed a dangerous look at them.

“Oh please!” Her eyes rolled instantly, clinging more tightly to the arm of the tall man beside her, a little bit below Mael’s height measured.

“I bet you’re waiting for a friend of yours to come out of that bank and give to you the money you must have either begged tirelessly for or going to pay back in many years to come.” Mockery rolled at the tip of her tongue as she spewed her sentences with disparage.

Mael gaped with astonishment, awed by the words his wife would hurl at him.

“That’s quite obvious honey, we both know this bank is not for his type. Not for a wretched, poor bastards like him. Unless you’re a man of name, making ten million dollars per your monthly remittance and have about millions deposited with them would you be allow to use this bank.” The man standing beside his Ex wife took the leverage in intruding his conversation with Blair, scouring him whole with a derogatory glance. “And we both know you’re nowhere near that kind of man.” He added primitively.

Mael had his eyes on him, fury matting upon his skin in a sizzling tingle. “Control your insolence!” Mael warned in an icy tone, flaying out his anger in a powerful tone.

His gaze averted towards Blair. “This is your fault.” He further added, still in a furious mood.

“What I meant to say is, this bank only allows and accepts men like me,” he boasted within his statement, making sure to keep Mael’s attention interested in him as he looked to face Blair, his free hand lifting to cup her face.

“Making more than your generation would make in years, a man courting such a beautiful lady your sleazy ass couldn’t hold for long. How incompetent of a man.” A laugh ended his words, hands still roaming all over Blair.

Mael’s face darkened with pure rage seeping into his features, his jaws clenched and was honestly not triggered by him caressing his woman all over- instead was pissed at the words barked out at him.

He bridged the space between them, yanking on his collar as he drew him closer to himself. His height instantly dominated him as he looked down at him with a ferocious expression.

“I dare you to fucking say another word to taunt me and watch me shatter your teeth. I dare you!” He spoke into his face, threatening in a rough hardened tone that had the man turning to a whimpering mess.

He looked into the eyes of Mael, witnessing the strange flash of fury glinting from them.

“Guards!” He instantly yelled, calling to the security guards nearby, they heeded his call within a seconds, materializing into the scene with their hefty builds and poker faces.

“Get this bastard off of me, throw him out of here! He doesn’t belong here!” He yelled towards the guards, referencing the male having his boldness cowered at the sight of a danger.

“He worked at a restaurant, I know who he is and he cleans tables for a living. He’s nothing but a poor guy.”

Didn’t take much for the guards to be convinced to assess Mael’s appearance to fit exactly what the man was telling them.

They charged at Mael, bringing him off the man before he could land the punch he projected. They held him back.

“I’m afraid we’re going to ask you to leave sir.” One of them told him, and it took four huge bodyguards to have restrained from keeping to his threat to shatter the man’s teeth.

“I’m here to check my balance, that’s all. I won’t be long and I will be on my way. Let me go.” Mael demanded, calming his nerves so they would stop straining his muscles.

“I’m afraid that won’t be possible sir, I suggest you go do that in another bank or elsewhere. Men like you are not welcome here.” He had responded, still holding on to his arm. “Either you leave willingly or we’ll be forced to throw you back on the street.”

Mael had gotten into an argument with the guards when a well dressed man came out through the rimmed metal gate, his attention drew to the loud chatters from around.

A glance at them and his eyes bulged, his gaze zeroed in on the bank card laying right between Mael’s palm. A gasp fell through as he changed his course, heading straight to mini gathering instead.

If he was right and saw clearly, that’s a platinum card with a gold mark rated, the highest level of card that held the most value, wealth, and respect.

“What’s going on here?” He arrived at the scene, cutting the ongoing chattering into a stop with his question.

“Sir! We were just-“

“I wasn’t talking to you.” He sent the guard a glare, pinning back his gaze on Mael who knew at once he was talking to him.

“I came to check the balance of my card, and he wouldn’t let me in. Threatening to throw me onto the streets.” Mael briefed, displaying the mentioned card and confirming the man’s doubts.

“Oh my God Sir. Do not mind their hypocrisy, I deeply apologize. I’m the manager here. Please come with me and let me help with whatever you need to do in here, Sir.” The man offered attached with a friendly smile, his words shrouded in bounds of respect.

Awe burned in the faces of everyone, Blair shocked that the bank’s manager was showing him courtesy, her concubine startled by the gesture, and the guards dazed at their boss apologizing on their behalf; he must be of high value and they fear their previous actions of removing his presence might have breached  his sensitivity. They fussed with worry over how the manager might consult their impertinence with a rigorous punishment.

Their faces immediately turned apologetic, assessing Mael as they clasped together their palms. “We’re-“ They made to apologize before the voice of Blair chirped through.

“You don’t understand. He is a nobody, you shouldn’t waste your time on him.” Blair tried to degrade Mael as usual.

“Perhaps you shouldn’t judge someone so blindly, he has a platinum card with him and you dare call him poor. The highest level and not even a minimum.” Mael watched the manager came to his defense, realizing his respect had to do with the stature acquired by the card in his possession.

“I’m pretty sure the said platinum card he’s trying to check the balance was stolen and it doesn’t belong to him. Trust me he’s that worthless.” Blair panned out, angry that Mael was favored and trying to convince the manager into her side.

This had hurt flashing into Mael’s emotions, she used to be his wife. A lady who loved him not for status but rather for who he is. The lady was gone now.

“I need you to stop insulting someone who has a potential of becoming our biggest client, while the both of you offer nothing with your mid card of the lowest.”

He once again spoke back to Blair, this time talking to her husband.

“Damn!” A  satisfying smirk curled into Mael’s lips, gazing with satisfaction as he witnessed Blair and her boyfriend shrunk into shame.

“If you don’t mind Sir, please come with me. I apologize once again for their hypocrisy. I’m deeply sorry.” He apologized once again, his head almost bowing at him as he had it tilted downward.

He led Mael into the bank with him, and took straight to a section near a corner. “Please have your seat Sir, give me a moment to call the director so she can attend to you in person.”

Mael nodded, watching as he stepped some feet away, fishing out his phone to make a call.

“Ma’am we have a special customer with us who needs your services.” Mael heard him speaking to the phone, probably to the director who must be of the female gender.

“Alright then.” He said after a minute while, ending the call as he returned to him.

“She will be with us in a second. I apologize for the wait, Sir.” He reported back to him, his words rubbing with courtesy.
