Chapter 29

Kara stared at her ceiling hoping an answer would just appear mysteriously on it, but it was a joke.

She wondered if she could avoid it, but then she knew she just can't. That curiosity spiraled in her to know. To just know.

Makes her wonder exactly who professor Kenneth Hall is. The things he knows. And the answers she's really seeking seem to be in his palms.

He happened to know more about her life, and it kinda sucks. But for some reason, if she wanted to know the truth, the whole truth, then going to him will be the next act.

He was just so specific, especially about the fire monster that killed her parents. He was so specific.

She narrowed her eyes suddenly beginning to try, and remember what her parents called the monster. She was sure he was called something.

She sighed and decided to sleep. There's a long day tomorrow.

.

.

"Don't face my wife, Gordon. Face me instead. Don't face my wife, Gordon, face me instead."

Her dad's voice and her mom's cries kept going on and on in her head.

She was breathing fast, moving uncomfortably on her bed. "Gordon. Gordon." She kept rambling as her head kept playing the day her parents died, except it was kinda like a gif but with audio in it. It kept playing one particular part.

"Don't face my wife, Gordon. Face me instead."

It kept going on, and on, her anger spicing up at the word Gordon. She wanted to kill him, she wanted to get back at him. She wanted him gone. How dare he!

And somehow she felt like she was hit with a defibrillator, cause her chest rose from the bed and fell back down. It no longer rose up, and down in rapid breaths. There were no words from her. She was no longer breathing. She was dead.

She opened her eyes and looked around her with furrowed brows. She could tell she was back on the other side, no thanks to that name. That Gordon seems to kill her and keeps killing her.

She had to go back. It'll be bad if her family wakes up, and finds her looking dead again.

As she closed her eyes, something clicked in her head. "The Riveras."

She immediately got up from the bed and looked around. "Hello!" She yelled. "Hello!" She yelled again.

"It's you."

Kara turned and looked at him. It was Anton.

"Hi." She waved out of breath.

Anton blinked. "I..we couldn't find you."

"I told you I wasn't from here. I went back to the real world."

Anton's eyes narrowed at her in disbelief. "I still find that impossible. You were probably hiding."

Kara sighed. "I went back, Anton."

Anton tilted his head at Kara. "I...I was pretty sure I never told you my name."

Kara nodded. "Yeah, I went to investigate the Bernard Greene guy, and I kinda need your help."

Anton blinked still not understanding, but then he shrugged it off. "What do you want?"

"Were you among the workers on his farm?"

Anton nodded. "Yeah. Me, and my grandfather."

"Why did you die? What killed you?"

Anton sighed. "I, um, I was asked to do something bad. Like, join a bad cult. I wasn't really sure who the main boss is, but he was the one pulling the strings. When I heard what I was supposed to do, I declined. I couldn't. But, they promised we'll get a license, and be free, or they threatened to kill my pa. He was the only family that I have here in this country.."

"So, you did it."

Anton nodded. "I did."

"What did you do?"

He lowered his head. His face was laced with guilt. "I kidnapped a child in the streets. I didn't bother to know what they wanted to do with him. I just did as they said. When I found out what they were doing with children, my conscience couldn't hold it, I wanted to talk, but got burned in the process."

"What were they doing with the children?"

"Taking their organs out to sell in the black market." He said shamefully.

Kara breathes shakily at the news. "Wow. Bernard Greene do that?"

Anton shook his head. "Not him. He just follows orders and takes care of the farm. It's the guy behind him. The real boss."

Kara was absorbed in thoughts. Leonard Vander. He's obviously not just a drug lord, but a child trafficker. I'm gonna have to add it to his case.

"The people that work on the farm. Who are they? Why don't they talk when they're been killed?" Kara asked.

He was astonished by what got her to ask the question, or by how she knew. "Um, it's because we are all here illegally. One of the big reasons why I ended up dead. We got shipped and ended up on the farm, and we don't want to go back. All we just want is to be free."

Kara nodded. "That's why. How long?"

"Like a year ago. I and my pa were among the first set that started working in it, although..." His brows furrowed as he remembered something. "Although, I, um, discovered something weird. I saw an ID of a guy named Bernard Greene, but not the one I know. It was in his office among his files. It stated the guy is the owner, and the farm dates back to like ten years. I just didn't get it."

Kara furrowed her brows at the information. "You're saying there is another Bernard Greene, and the Bernard Greene you know might just be an impostor?"

Anton shrugged. "I just caught a glimpse. I didn't mind it."

Kara nodded and looked around. "What about your pa, where's he?"

Anton sighed. "He's no longer here."

Kara looked at him. "What do you mean?"

"He disappeared. He let go of my anger, and freed himself."

Kara frowned. "Yo..your anger?"

Anton nodded. "Yeah. He's been stuck here because of me. Truly, anger brought him here, and it was due to the fact that our deaths were unfair he could have let it go, but I couldn't. He stayed for me and tried to advise me to let go, but I just don't know why I can't, so one day he just disappeared. He decided to leave me."

Kara sighed feeling sorry for him. "I...don't worry, I'm looking to avenge your deaths. When I go back, I'll make sure Bernard Greene goes to jail."

Anton blinked not knowing what to say. "You can really go back to the real world?"

Kara nodded. "I'm not dead, I just kinda have a connection here."

"A connection?"

Kara nodded. "Yeah, but I gotta go. If I don't wake up soon, my family will think I'm actually dead, so I gotta go."

Kara climbed the bed and lay back down.

Anton just watched.

She closed her eyes, but her head was filled with thoughts. She still doesn't get things.

She sighed and decided to let go.

Anton stumbled back at the unreality that just happened. She just disappeared like there wasn't any kind of trace of her. Like she was never here.

The hell!
