When the Delivery Boy Walked Out

Alex grabbed the small package from the front desk and hurried outside. His motorbike waited by the curb. He only had a few minutes left. The customer on the phone had sounded rich and angry, the kind of person who yelled if you were even one minute late.

For the past year Alex had worked as a delivery rider. He always tried hard to bring things on time and in good shape. He did not want customers shouting at him or the company calling him useless. Today felt different though. The package was light, almost empty. He shrugged and pushed it carefully into his backpack. His only job was to deliver it. Nothing else mattered.

He pulled out his phone to check the details one more time. The note said the package held a whole box of condoms. Alex frowned. Who ordered that many? Maybe someone was having a party. Or maybe it was a joke. He shook his head and started the engine.

Then a thought hit him. Today was his first wedding anniversary with Sarah. One whole year since they got married. He smiled a little. He had bought her a cheap necklace and planned a simple dinner at home. He wanted to make the day special even if they did not have much money.

Alex put on his helmet, twisted the throttle, and raced down the road. The map on his phone guided him through busy streets until he reached a tall, shiny hotel. Security guards at the gate looked him over, saw the delivery bag, and waved him inside. They were used to riders like him.

At the reception a polite woman pointed him toward the elevators. “Room 412,” she said. Alex checked the time. He was two minutes early. Perfect. He walked down the quiet hallway, heart beating steady, and knocked hard on the door.

The door swung open.

Alex froze.

A man and a woman stood close together, hands locked, lips pressed tight in a kiss. The woman pulled back first. Her eyes went wide. It was Sarah. His wife.

Alex’s body started shaking. He could not move. He could not speak. It felt like someone had punched the air out of his chest.

The man turned and glared. “Who are you? Why are you interrupting us, fool?”

Alex just stared. His heart pounded so hard he thought everyone could hear it. The man looked at Sarah. She stood frozen too, mouth open.

“What’s going on?” the man asked her.

Sarah’s voice came out small. “Alex? What are you doing here?”

The man raised his eyebrows. “Wait. You two know each other?”

Alex finally found words. His voice came out rough. “Sarah is my wife.”

The man burst out laughing. A loud, mean laugh that filled the room. “You? The lucky delivery boy? I must say you were lucky to meet a woman like her.”

Alex’s face burned. “I’m not lucky. She’s my wife. You know that and you’re still kissing her?”

The man’s smile vanished. He pointed a finger straight at Alex. “Listen, young man. Apologize right now or I call your company and make sure you lose your job.”

Alex shook his head. “I won’t apologize. You’re the one kissing my wife in front of me. Those condoms in my bag were for you two, weren’t they?”

Sarah’s face twisted. “You want to know why? Because you’re a stupid poor man! That’s the husband I got stuck with!”

Anger flooded Alex. He pointed at her. “I trusted you, Sarah. How could you do this?”

Before he could say more, three security guards appeared behind him. One of them said, “Sir, you need to leave.”

“I’m not leaving,” Alex answered.

The guards grabbed his arms and belt. They started pulling him toward the door. The man in the room smiled a nasty smile and walked over. He opened Alex’s backpack, took out the package, and waved the guards on. “Get him out of here.”

Alex twisted around as they dragged him. “You’ll regret this, Sarah!”

The man laughed even harder, holding the box of condoms high.

The guards shoved Alex out into the parking lot and told him to leave. He climbed onto his motorbike, still shaking. He gave the guards a hard look but said nothing more. Just as he was about to start the engine, his phone rang.

He answered. An old man’s voice came through, calm and clear.

“Hello Alex. It’s time. You need to take care of the companies now. You are the CEO.”

Alex knew that voice. He answered simply, “Okay.”

The old man continued, “Do you still want your wife to be the one who gets everything when you’re gone?”

Alex sat still for a second. Then a cold smile crossed his face.

“I don’t think so,” he said.

The call ended. Alex put the phone away, started the bike, and rode out of the hotel gates. The wind hit his face. His chest still hurt, but something new burned inside him too. Something that felt like the start of a long fight.

He had spent a year pretending to be nothing. A poor delivery rider. A husband who took every insult. A man who smiled when people treated him like dirt. All of it had been part of a bigger plan. A test his family had forced on him. Stay hidden. Stay quiet. See who stays loyal when the money is gone.

Sarah had failed the test in the worst way. She had thrown him away for a richer man and a pack of condoms. Her whole family had treated him like a servant for months. Now the game was over.

Alex did not know yet how far he would go. He only knew one thing for sure. The next time Sarah and her family saw him, they would not see a delivery boy. They would see the real him. And they would wish they had never opened that hotel door.
