Two days later, Ethan couldn't resist returning to work. He couldn't let his disagreement with Clara destroy the company he worked so hard for, so he showed up from the hotel to finish up the presentation.

Just ten minutes after he got into the office, Clara barged in. She hadn't bothered to check on him since last night and he hadn't contacted her either. Ethan couldn't help but wonder how she was doing, she seemed fine so he fought back the urge to ask.

“So you came to work?” She scoffed. “Listen Ethan, you have to come back home,” she demanded with folded arms.

Ethan felt happiness hearing this, perhaps she finally came to her senses. This must mean she missed him, doesn't it? Maybe he was wrong and she really cared about him.

But Clara's next words left him stunned.

“I am tired of having to order takeaway morning, afternoon and night. I haven't had homemade food in two days, so you need to come home and get back in the kitchen.” she blurted.

Ethan sighed and shook his head. Of course, she was still thinking about herself. Clara never liked eating outside, it was only on occasions, so Ethan made sure to make a nice meal every night when he came home from work.

He did all of this just to please her and make her life easier, yet how did she repay him?

“I am not your personal chef, Clara. But perhaps you should hire one.” He said calmly, turning his gaze away from her.

“Hey! Don't get so cocky now! Why are you being so proud and arrogant, just because I enjoy your food doesn't mean you should think so highly of yourself. Listen, I have had enough of this fight, my assistant, Martha, will accompany you to the hotel to get your things and head back home after work today.” She stated.

Ethan couldn't believe her audacity, to think she could order him around like that. She might be the owner of the company by name but he made it, he was the brains and sweat behind its success and he needed to start exerting his authority.

“I was quite clear about that, I am not coming back home, not after all the disrespect I have received from you, I will be coming to work from the hotel, but that's the only time you will see me until you do the right thing.”

“Ugh!” Clara growled and stomped her feet dramatically on the floor. “Do you really have to be so stubborn? Okay, what do you want? A new pair of shoes? A different gift? Just tell me what you want so we can get over your childish tantrums and you return home.” She demanded.

Ethan sat up. “Okay, since you asked. If you want me to come back, first you need to return Damian Lillard to his previous position as a Sales representative, then you will have to end all personal relationships with him. Aside from a professional relationship, you will have nothing to do with him again, those are my demands.”

“What? That is absurd! Why don't you go ahead and ask me to terminate his employment here as well?” She fired.

“I would do that if I had the mind to rob a man of his job as he is trying to rob me of my wife, but luckily for him, I am too compassionate and incapable of doing that. So do we have terms?”

“Bullshit! You think too much of yourself. Trying to get a man who worked hard for his position demoted, all because you can't stand the fact that he is better than you. Isn't that just selfish and heartless of you? But I am not surprised, you only care about yourself!”

Ethan was left dumbfounded. Him, selfish? His entire life since he met her had been to please her, he had done everything to make her comfortable. Even though he was a tech genius and was offered an awesome job opportunity overseas, he couldn't afford to leave her and decided to start up this company under her name, just to give her a good reputation and fame.

Now she had the guts to accuse him of being selfish.

“Am I the selfish one for wanting to save my marriage from an intruder? I am being generous by letting him keep his job here, we both know he is not qualified to be a janitor, let alone hold such a top position in our company. And you say he is better than me? Don't forget how many degrees and certificates I had before I met you. I could have gotten employed in the biggest tech companies in the world with seven digit monthly income. I gave up that dream just to be with you, and you are choosing a total loser over me!” He flared in anger.

“Nonsense! I told you countless times, Damian and I are just friends. Find some big boy pants and stop being an insecure little bitch!” She spat and then stormed out of the office.

Ethan growled and leaned back on the chair. He had started to regret showing up here as all it did was provoke him.

Just then there was a knock on the door and Mary, his office assistant, walked in.

She saw the look of anger on his face and panicked. “If this is a bad time, Sir, I can come back later,” she said in a rush of words.

“No, come in, tell me what you need.” He said calmly.

“Actually, there is something you need to see, Sir.” She said with a serious expression on her face.

Ethan was curious to find out what. He was stunned when he learned what the assistant had discovered.

His wife, Clara Kent, had been secretly funneling company assets to her childhood crush and first love, Damian Lillard!!

Ethan was enraged, as if openly spending company funds on that loser wasn't enough, she was going to steal from the company for him as well.

Now he was really going to have to deal with them, he had endured enough!!

There was a knock on Ethan’s apartment in the evening.Ethan, who had been reviewing regional logistics reports in his study, calmly walked down the staircase to answer it himself. He turned the polished brass handle and swung the door open, only to find three familiar figures standing beneath the porch lights. It was Kara and her parents.Kara stood in the center, her eyes red-rimmed and brimming with tears, her hands trembling as she clutched a small medical file against her chest. Flanking her were her mother and father, both vibrating with an absolute, unbridled fury that distorted their features. Before Ethan could even utter a word of greeting, Kara’s father took an aggressive step forward, shoving a finger directly toward Ethan’s chest. “You absolute monster! You thought you could just play your little games with our family and walk away unscathed?”Ethan remained perfectly still, his eyes shifting calmly to Kara. “Kara? What is th

Mary Jane’s father paced the linoleum floor, his hands wringing together so tightly his knuckles turned white. “You have to do it, Mary! You have to go to him and beg for his forgiveness, accept to marry him! There is no other way out of this nightmare!”“Father, no! I already told you, I would rather die!” Mary Jane cried out. “He is a repulsive, predatory monster! How can you stand there and ask me to hand my entire life over to a tyrant like Master Vance?”“Because if you don’t, we are going to lose absolutely everything!” her mother wept, clutching a damp handkerchief to her face as she stepped toward her daughter. “Mary, look around you! The thugs are going to return with more men. They will burn this roof right over our heads! Your father and I are too old to sleep in the dirt. Master Vance offered to erase every single cent of our debt the moment you sign the marriage contract. It’s a sacrifice, yes, but it’s a sacrifice that saves your family!”“A

The dirt-packed paths of the village market were bustling with the mid-morning rush, a chaotic maze of wooden stalls, colorful awnings, and the sharp aromas of fresh produce, dried spices, and livestock.Ethan walked a step behind Mary Jane, his hands casually slid into his trouser pockets. To the casual observer, he looked like an ordinary visitor; he had left his luxury SUV parked back at the farmhouse and accompanied her on foot, wearing a simple button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. But beneath his relaxed posture, his razor-sharp senses were fully engaged. As they moved past the crowded stalls, the shift in the atmosphere was instantaneous. The lively bartering died down, replaced by a toxic, heavy wave of stage-whispers and pointed glares.“Look, there she is. The shameless one,” a woman at a fabric stall muttered, nudging her neighbor.“Back from the city after getting caught, and now she’s dragging some new man around

The rolling green hills of the York Town countryside were bathed in the soft, muted gold of a late afternoon sun, but the scenic tranquility did nothing to ease the quiet weight settling in Ethan Vale’s chest. He pulled his black SUV to a stop along a narrow, dirt-hemmed driveway leading to a modest, slightly weathered farmhouse. He had made a solemn promise to Sabrina, and the King of War never broke his word.Stepping out of the vehicle, he walked toward the porch, his eyes taking in the peeling white paint of the railing and the old rocking chair resting in the shade. Before he could even knock, the door creaked open.A young woman stepped out, carrying a woven basket of laundry. The moment her eyes locked onto his figure, the basket slipped from her hands, tumbling to the wooden deck.“M-Mr. Vale?”Ethan froze, a sharp pang of guilt twisting in his gut. It was Mary Jane, his former personal assistant. But she was a shadow of

  • Nico Seaman, you are fired!!

The reflective glass doors of Seaman Technologies didn't offer Nico Seaman the same sense of absolute domain they usually did when he stormed through them. Although his new plan of tarnishing Vale Corp’s image seems to be working, it had cost the Seaman Group a ton of money, and the sting of losing the initial two hundred and forty million dollars was still vibrating through his veins like an electrical current. He didn't bother greeting his assistant as he marched straight toward the main executive conference room, ready to summon his financial analysts and demand a full audit on the state commercial banking clauses. But the moment he threw the double doors open, he stopped dead in his tracks. The room wasn't empty. Sitting at the head of the long obsidian table was his brother, Dave Seaman. Surrounding him were five of the most powerful, stone-faced senior board executives and institutional shareholders of the corporation. The atmosphere in the room was

The morning sun barely touched the glass facade of Vale Corporation’s tower when Ethan strode into the building. He had been taking the operational side of the company very seriously these days, fully intending to keep his word of completely overtaking Seaman Group of Companies with little or no reliance on his hidden, lethal King Of War alter ego.Arriving at the executive suite, Mario Kart stood pale as a ghost by the door, clutching a digital tablet with trembling hands.“Ethan, we have a massive problem,” she whispered, her voice tight with panic.Ethan frowned, unbuttoning and taking off his suit coat. “Of course we do, Mario. Don't we always? What kind of problem are we facing so early in the morning?”Mario swallowed hard, her knuckles turning white around the device. “Not just one. Dozens, I am afraid.” She held out the tablet toward him. “Thirty-two separate lawsuits were filed against our various subsidiaries and acquisition ass
