For twenty-six years, Leo lived like a dog in a dirty scrapyard, fixing cars and writing computer codes for the rich Sterling family. He thought he was just a poor orphan surviving on trash. He was wrong. On his twenty-sixth birthday, Leo opens a secret steel box left by his real father. The truth hits him like a bullet: the Sterlings murdered his parents, stole his family company, and built a fifty-story skyscraper on his stolen bloodline. Inside the box is the real deed to the building and a secret bank vault with four hundred million dollars. Leo leaves the grease behind and enters the corporate battlefield. He uses his genius codes, secret billions, and cold patience to wage war against the family that enslaved him. He will hijack their deals, crash their stock market, and take back his tower piece by piece. They treated him like trash. Now, the scrapyard mechanic is coming back to rule the city as king.

Chapter 1: Stolen Work

"Sign the transfer, Leo."

Richard slid a single sheet of paper across the polished mahogany table. He did not look up from his tablet. He did not ask how my head felt after working three days straight with no sleep. He just tapped the edge of the document with his gold pen.

"What is this?"

"It is the release form for the Apex project. Julian is presenting it to the board in forty minutes. We need your signature to assign the lead architect credits to him."

"Julian did not write this code. He does not even know what language it runs on."

"That does not matter."

"It took me three years, Richard. Three years sleeping under my desk. I missed my twenties for this system."

"You did your job. The company paid for your food, your clothes, your college tuition. You owe this family everything you have. Julian is the face of Sterling Global. You are an employee."

"I am your adopted son."

Julian laughed from the corner sofa. He sat there twirling a glass of ice water, wearing a five-thousand-dollar suit that my code paid for.

"Son? You really think you are one of us, Leo? Look at yourself. You are a charity case my father picked up from a church doorstep to get a tax write-off."

"Julian, be quiet," Richard muttered, though there was zero anger in his voice. He looked at me, cold and flat. "Leo, sign the paper. If you sign, you keep your junior developer salary. You get a private office in the basement. You keep your health insurance."

"And if I do not sign?"

"Then you leave."

"Leave?"

"Right now. Security is already packing your locker. Your keycard is turned off. Your company bank account is frozen."

"You cannot freeze my personal savings."

"Every dollar you earned was deposited into a Sterling corporate trust account. Read the contract you signed when you turned eighteen, boy. You own nothing."

I looked down at my hands. They were shaking. Not from fear, but from the sudden, sickening realization that my whole life had been a trap. I had worked until my fingers bled just to make this man smile at me once. Just to hear him say he was proud of me.

He was never going to say it.

"I am not signing it."

Julian jumped up from the sofa. The ice in his glass rattled loudly.

"You stupid beggar! Do you know how much money is riding on this meeting? If that presentation does not go through, the investors pull out! Sign the damn paper!"

"Make me."

Julian swung his arm. The heavy glass hit me right across the cheekbone.

Pain exploded behind my eyes. I stumbled back against the bookcase, tasting blood on my lip.

"Julian!" Richard stood up, his voice finally sharp. "Stop it."

"He needs to learn his place, Father! He thinks he is a genius? He is nothing without our name!"

I wiped the blood from my chin with the back of my hand. I stood up straight.

"Keep the code, Julian. Take it to the board."

Julian sneered, straightening his silk tie. "I will. And they will make me Chief Operating Officer by noon."

"You do not have the root password."

Julian froze. His face went completely white.

"What did you say?"

"The core logic loop has a thirty-day security lock. If my private key is not entered into the server every Sunday night at midnight, the entire database wipes itself clean. It turns into junk."

Richard stepped around the desk. The calm businessman mask was gone. His eyes were wide with genuine panic.

"Leo, give me the override key."

"No."

"I took you out of the gutter! I gave you a life!"

"You gave me a cage. You used me to build a billion-dollar empire for your useless son, and now you want to throw me away like trash. If you want that key, Richard, you will have to get on your knees and beg me for it."

"Security!" Richard roared, slamming his fist onto the wall intercom. "Get up here right now! Throw this bastard out into the street!"

Two massive guards in black suits pushed through the double doors. They grabbed my arms, twisting them behind my back until my shoulder joints popped. They dragged me down the long marble hallway, past the executives, past the secretaries who looked down at their desks, pretending not to see.

They threw me through the glass revolving doors.

I hit the wet pavement hard. The cold rain soaked through my thin shirt instantly.

A silver limousine pulled up to the curb. The driver rolled down the window and tossed a black plastic trash bag onto the sidewalk next to me.

"Mr. Sterling said to give you this," the driver said quietly, looking away with shame. "Your old clothes from the orphanage. And this."

The driver dropped a rusted, heavy brass key onto the bag.

"What is this key for?" I asked, pushing myself up from the dirty puddle.

"Phase Four," the driver whispered. "The old auto scrap yard on the north docks. Mr. Sterling bought the deed twenty years ago. He said that is the only property you are allowed to sleep on."

I picked up the cold brass key. My hands were covered in road grit and blood, but my chest felt lighter than it had in ten years.

I took a cab with the last twenty-dollar bill hidden in my shoe.

The north docks were dark, smelling of dead fish, motor oil, and rusted metal. Massive piles of crushed cars and broken shipping containers stretched into the thick fog. In the middle of the yard stood a two-story brick garage with half the roof caved in.

I pushed the squeaking metal gate open and walked up to the side door.

The brass key slipped into the old lock. It turned with a heavy clunk.

Inside, the air was dry and smelled of old paper. I felt along the wall for a switch and flipped it.

A single yellow light bulb turned on overhead.

The garage was not full of car parts.

It was packed from floor to ceiling with heavy green filing cabinets, locked fireproof safes, and dozens of old industrial computer mainframes from the nineteen-nineties.

On the central wooden work table sat a thick steel lockbox with my birth name painted on the lid in faded white stencil: LEO VANCE.

I pulled a rusty crowbar from the wall and jammed it under the lockbox clasp. With one hard pull, the metal snapped open.

Inside was a stack of yellowed papers, a cassette tape, and a certified property deed stamped with the official seal of the city court.

I picked up the deed and read the first line out loud under the dim light bulb.

"Sterling Global Headquarters, Sector One. Registered legal owner: Arthur Vance."

My hands locked up.

Arthur Vance was my biological father.

Richard Sterling had not built that skyscraper. He had murdered the man who owned it, forged the papers, and raised me in the basement of my own building.
