Chapter 6(The Deal)

“No one dares stand before me and insult me. No one.” Redmond icily admonished.

  “My tooth, he smash..ed my to..th!” Arthur bellowed and writhed in pain. His eyes were red as blood dripped from his mouth.

  Just then, Edmund Weah, Avery’s fiancée, got hold of the coffee cup on the table and dashed off to smash it on Redmond.

  “Stop, Edmund! Don't touch a hair on him!”” Grandpa yelled and he stopped in his tracks.

  From all indications, the Weah boy was determined to avenge his brother-in-law.

  “Please Grandpa, allow me to put this fool in his place.”Edmund beckoned with fury, the coffee cup still on his palm.

  “Dad? Are you going to allow him to get away with this?” Jude Bellingham queried with utmost surprise as he watched his only son nurse his wound.

  “My tooth is gone grandpa, allow…”

  “That's enough!” He said as he slammed his fist on the table, deadening the room with silence. The room was so quiet that one's breath could be heard clearly.

  He rose to his feet, his face wearing a stern look, “This is an order and anyone that goes against it shall face my wrath!” He dared, his body trembling out of anger.

  He turned towards Redmond, his eyes holding him in place. “Young man, I like to consider myself as a generous man. In that light, you will be given two million dollars to let go. Two million to appreciate whatever you did for Ruth.” The old man's word penetrated through the thick air.

  Redmond was quiet for a moment as all eyes waited and anticipated his reply. It was meant to be easy, to them there was no way he will be rejecting the money, not two million fucking dollars.

  Redmond took a glance at Ruth and saw how worried and petrified she was. It saddened his heart as he titled his head down and inhaled softly before exhaling gently. It was like he was weighing his options against the offer.

  “A chance, Grandpa Bruce” he employed the “grandpa” title for the first time. “Even the odd and I will show you that I am the most deserving man for her.”

  Clearly Redmond was moved, not because of himself or due to the offer but because of Ruth. He wasn't ready to destroy whatever that's remaining of her relationship with her family.

  “A chance? Are you kidding me right now? This is ridiculous.” Tana blurted in disbelief. “Who are you to go head to head with Wade, a part of the Seven Keys of Denor city? You must be delusional.”

  Tana jeered aggressively. It is obvious that she despised Redmond from the moment that she set her eyes on him. To her, he is the obstacle before her and her family's happiness.

  Well, she wasn't the only one wearing this shoe. Another, was the humiliated Arthur Teleimans. He despised him for making him feel less of a man. He was determined to not only humiliate him but also to make him watch helplessly as he loses Ruth to Jason. It was at this point that a mischievous plan hatched within him.

  “Grandpa? If he wants Ruth that bad, he should secure a partnership deal with the Zinont Group. Get it done and he will do with Ruth however he pleases and most importantly I will humbly bow down to him. Lose, he will let Ruth be and also shamefully make a video and apologize for being a dumb chicken.”

  Grandpa finally gets to sit back on his seat. He gently reclined his back to the seat as he thought about the ingenious idea from his grandson. He swivelled his gaze towards Redmond and back to his grandson, “Is that what you want?”

  Arthur nodded passionately with a mischievous grin. “You heard him. We the Teleimans are architects. We have our own architectural firm and recently, the famous Zinont Group is looking for an architectural firm to partner with, especially since they plan to invest in infrastructure in coming years. Sadly, the competition is stiff. Many Architectural firms and organisations are fighting for a piece of the cake. If you can get this deal, you will officially be my in-law and be in my good grace. You have this week to get it done.”

  “This week?” Redmond huffed, “You will hear from me before the next forty-eight hours.” He concluded with an air of authority.

  “Hmph, he is unbelievable. He thinks getting to the Zinont Group is a child's play. Let him try and come back to apologise like a fucking chicken that he is truly is.” Arthur smirked. In his eyes, there was no way Redmond was coming out victorious.

  Tana fell on her knees before Grandpa, her hands in the air while her eyes reddened with tears, “He doesn't deserve all this grace. Ruth is better off with Jason Wade.”

  Grandpa Bruce chuckled heartily, his eyes glinting in amusement as he replied saying, “Why worry when it is obvious that he won't make it past the Zinont Group’s gate. If he fails, hopefully, Ruth will get married to Jason Wade while I get to keep my two millions dollars and my grandson here..” he points at Arthur, “Will get to get his revenge and the young man will be disgracefully dismissed.”

  A slyy smile crept gradually into Tana’s sunken face on realising that grandpa Bruce was right. They have just sent the overzealous young man to a journey of assured failure.

  “Come on Charles, am I going to bleed to death before I get a doctor!” Arthur cried.
