A loud gasp echoes through the grand amphitheater as every high council member turns their head toward the open bronze doors.
General Zane stops mid-sentence, his heavy plasma blade hovering in the air. His grey eyes widen in pure disbelief as he looks past the rows of seated leaders and sees me standing at the entrance. My hands burn with bright, roaring black fire, casting harsh shadows across the polished marble floor.
"How are you out of the containment cell?" Zane demands, his voice booming across the massive hall. "The security grid should have fried your nervous system!"
I step forward into the room, my boots striking the floor with a heavy, deliberate sound. "Your security grid is built on lies, Zane. Just like your entire council."
Beside me, Ifeoma moves fast. She does not look at the shocked faces of the council members or wait for the guards to react. Her eyes fix entirely on the massive central broadcast console at the front of the stage. She pulls a small data drive from her tactical belt, her fingers ready to plug into the mainframe and override the entire city network.
Zara Bello steps in right behind us, her black military coat sweeping the floor as she draws her sidearm and covers our flank. "Do not move, council members," Zara Bello announces, her tone icy and absolute. "The game is over."
Panic erupts instantly among the elite leaders. Several men and women stand up from their plush leather seats, shouting in outrage and trying to reach the emergency panic buttons on their armrests.
"Guards!" Zane roars, raising his glowing plasma blade high. "Kill them all right now!"
From the upper balconies, a dozen elite guards in black armor charge forward, their energy rifles flashing as they aim directly down at us.
I do not hesitate. I push my hands outward, and the black fire surges from my palms in a massive wave of raw energy. The flames strike the front line of guards before they can pull their triggers, lifting them off their feet and slamming them hard against the stone pillars.
"Ifeoma, get to the console!" I call out over the noise of the alarms.
Ifeoma sprints up the side stairs toward the central broadcast deck, dodging a stray energy beam that scorches the wall inches from her shoulder. She slides behind the massive control desk, slamming her data drive into the main terminal port.
"I am in!" Ifeoma calls back, a triumphant smile touching her lips. "Downloading the truth about the parent files and the council's corruption to every screen in the city right now!"
On the giant screen behind Zane, the countdown timer for the underground purge flickers, turns a bright, warning yellow, and then shatters completely. Replicating lines of text and hidden audio logs begin to flood every public display from the capital towers down to the darkest alleys of the slums.
Zane’s face turns pale with blind fury. He ignores the guards, drops into a low combat stance, and charges straight at me with his plasma blade raised high.
"You think you can beat me, boy?" Zane snarls, bringing the glowing blue blade down in a heavy, lethal arc.
I step to the side at the last possible second. The plasma blade cuts through the air where my shoulder was just a moment ago, scorching the floor tiles into glowing glass. I counter with a swift punch, wrapping my fist in dark fire and striking Zane hard across the chest.
The impact sends him stumbling backward, his heavy military coat smoking from the heat.
Zane coughs, wiping a streak of blood from his lip, but he refuses to fall. He swings the blade again in a wide, vicious circle, forcing me to duck low and retreat a step.
"You are fighting for a dead world, Simeon!" Zane yells, lunging forward with brutal speed.
Before I can block his next strike, the heavy bronze doors at the back of the amphitheater are blasted off their hinges with a deafening explosion.
Smoke fills the entrance, and a new group of armed soldiers marches into the hall, wearing the unmarked white armor of the supreme faction enforcers. At their front walks a man I have only ever seen in my father's corrupted backup files—Director Kanmi's older brother, the head of the outer tribunal.
"The boy belongs to the tribunal," the newcomer announces, his voice cutting through the chaos like a knife.
Zane steps back, lowering his blade slightly as he looks at the new arrivals. A strange, knowing smirk crosses his scarred face.
Ifeoma looks up from the console, her eyes widening in sudden horror as she reads the incoming data packet on her screen. "Simeon... stop fighting Zane. Look at the network map."
I glance back at the giant screen. The data upload is complete, but a new, terrifying red warning flashes across the display.
The tribunal has not just sent soldiers. They have armed the planetary orbital defense system, and every single weapon in the capital is locked onto our exact coordinates.

The Underground Alliance
A heavy, smoking missile streaks past our transport ship, missing our hull by inches and blowing up a nearby cloud of floating debris into a million burning pieces.I pull Ifeoma hard against the metal floor of the cargo bay as Kade slams the heavy rear hatch shut with a loud, ringing crash. The engines of the stolen transport scream under maximum load, tilting sharply to the side as Kade fights the flight controls to dodge a wave of automated defense drones chasing us from the ruined capital tower."Everyone strap in!" Kade calls out from the cockpit, his face pale under the harsh blue instrument lights. "The tribunal has locked down every air corridor in the city. If we get hit by another anti-air missile, we turn into dust."I look down at Ifeoma. She is already checking the glowing backup drive she pulled from t
The Orbital Target
A piercing red alarm siren cuts through the amphitheater, flashing emergency lights across the faces of the terrified council members.I do not look back at General Zane or the white-armored tribunal soldiers blocking the exit. My eyes stay fixed on the giant main screen where Ifeoma is typing at incredible speed. The orbital defense system countdown ticks down rapidly, and the crosshairs on the display lock directly onto our position inside the tower."They are routing the planetary strike weapon right to this building," Ifeoma says, her voice completely steady even as her fingers dance across the holographic keyboard. "The orbital cannon takes thirty seconds to charge. If we do not break out of this floor right now, we will be vaporized along with every council member in this room."Zane lowers his plasma blade, a

The Price of Freedom
A high-voltage spark snaps against the blue energy bars, stinging my skin and lighting up the dark, freezing sub-level cell.I press my hands against the glowing barrier, but the electric shock throws me backward onto the cold metal floor. The smell of burnt ozone fills the small cage. Across from me, Ifeoma sits on a steel crate, her face pale in the dim light, yet her eyes remain sharp and completely focused."Do not waste your energy fighting the bars directly," Ifeoma says quietly, her voice steady. "They are hooked straight into the tower's main power grid. Every time you touch them, the system drains your strength."I push myself up to my feet, rubbing my stinging palms. "We cannot just sit here and wait for General Zane to strip our code. In one hour, the high council convenes, and they will wipe out the enti

A blinding flash of white light tears through my eyes, and the deafening roar of the digital void vanishes into complete silence.I hit the cold, hard steel floor hard, the breath knocking completely out of my lungs. Her face is carved from ice, completely calm as she aims a heavy energy pistol right at my chest."You broke out of a low-level sandbox simulation, Simeon," Voss says, her voice carrying clear
