Second Contact

Captain Alina was very reluctant to show the ships to the pilots. She knew that there was no way to convince them of a sentient starship with enough firepower to completely wipe out civilization and who was also depressed. She however could make their experience more pleasant.

She told the Butterfly to take them in. The butterfly opened a hatch on the left side of the underslung side of his body. The slow and powerful molybdenum-laced ferrofluid hydraulic pumps started to open the doors of the large holding area. When the butterfly was opening the gate, it felt like something was happening.

The pumps were jammed because for many years, those pumps were not greased. The remaining lubricants were solidified into a thick crust. The butterfly wanted to fix the problem, so it deployed several maintenance drones.

The drone soon moved to the smaller areas of the hydraulic assembly and started to eat away the corners' old greases and expired lubricants. After several minutes, the massive door
