Daniel’s POV

Rebecca selfishly chose not to chase after Jane and instead went back to Daniel’s room. The nurse, knowing what was going on between Daniel and Rebecca, heard what Jane had to say about her and turned a blind eye to the fact that her best friend was secretly taking her man.

“Where is Jane?” Daniel asked, seeing that only Rebecca had returned.

“She seemed to be too angry at the fact that I never showed up to practice to stay and check on you.”

Detained to his hospital bed, Daniel began to think about what Rebecca had said; sad, droopy, and claustrophobic, he swallowed his emotions.

“She will come around. Maybe you should go check on her; she’s going through a lot, plus Dane is another handful that she has to witness.”

Rebecca never showed much remorse, but she took heed of his advice on his behalf and kissed him goodbye.

“Tomorrow morning is the final rehearsal before the boys play against the Doppelgangers, so of course she will be mad, Rebecca… you better not come here tomorrow.” He laughs

“Whatever, pick up for your “loyal girlfriend”; I’m just a side chick anyways. Don’t think of me when your therapy hurts tomorrow, Sexy Dan.” Tracing her fingers on his chest as she makes her way out of his room, walking slowly and purposely sexy, the sound of Daniel’s still located shoulder’s palm colliding onto her ass cheek echoing outside the door.

“Knock em dead, baby,” Daniel says as she leaves.

Rebecca finally exited the hallway; a minute had passed, and Daniel heard a knock on his door.

“Can I come in?”

“Dad! When did you get here? He asked Coach Miles, seeing that it was him.

Coach Miles takes a step inside.

“I’d been here 30 minutes now, waiting for your secret girlfriend to leave so she could remain a secret.”

“Dad, it’s not what you think.” He sighs and puts his hand on his head. “How could I allow Dad to find out?” a loud voice utters inside his head.

“Don’t worry, son, your secret is safe with me.* Cutting Daniel off before he could speak again… “You know, your Mom caught me cheating with her best friend once when you were only 2 years old… She and that girl never spoke again after that. I never told you this, but that is how me and your Mom ended up splitting apart.”

“Dad, I didn’t mean to; it’s just-“

“Don’t explain. I was young once; young people just talk too loud when they’re together in a room where they think no one can hear them.” He laughs. “You sure got fine girls, my boy.”

They both start laughing.

“I really love Jane, Dad… I think Rebecca is going to be bad for me, but I’m so weak to her and just can’t resist,” said Daniel

“Well, let me tell you this… You can resist her, but you don’t want to.” Added Mr. Whitman

“You’re right, Dad, you’re always right.” What took you so long to get here?

“I had so much on my hands, and with you out of the picture, I am the one who has to look after Sebastian, and I’m no superwoman.”

“But 3 whole days? Come on!”

“Well, you’re a big boy, Dan. I know you can take care of yourself; you’ve always wanted to be the man of the house, and sometimes being a man means you have to learn how to survive without a father.”

Daniel’s eyes flooded in an instant, glossy and close to monsoon, but no tears fell. He clenched his teeth against each other, his lips trembling, and his eyes never closed until they dried back up again. With a burst of high-energy influence, Coach Miles sprung into a new emotion, as if he were no more than a chameleon.

“Well, the boys have a big match tomorrow; sadly, you’ll be missing it.”

“Yeah, don’t remind me,” Daniel responded, slowly turning his head to the side

“The nurse said you have therapy in the morning. I heard the girls have cheerleading rehearsal around the same time too, and I will be formally introducing Jerome as our new starting striker in or around that same time frame. So much happening at once.”

“How does he look out there? Jerome.” Daniel asked with a focused expression and a dimmed tone.

“He’s quite a show-off, but he’ll do. There’s a strong team behind him.” Mr. Whitman stood there staring at the calendar on the wall

Staring at the calendar as well, Daniel sighed… “I can’t wait for the healing to be over with,” he uttered in an angry voice

Mr. Whitman turned around, walked to his bedside, and gently rested his hand on his shoulder.

“Time, son, just time.”

Meanwhile, they finished their father-son talk; a heated argument raged between Jane and Rebecca, unknowingly. Jane was furious about Rebecca missing training because showing up to training the day before a match was very crucial; Rebecca was just being her regular selfish, exaggerated self. Both of them had strong points to prove, but only Jane had truthful and valid points; Rebecca simply argued because of arguing sake – like the campus drama queen she actually is. Stressed, depressed, and tired, Jane desperately walked out of the room and screamed “Ughh!!” as it was heard for houses down the neighborhood streets. Rebecca only stood there laughing, knowing she had no reason to argue back, but refused to own up to the fact that she was wrong for skipping practice to see her best friend’s boyfriend just to fill her intimate voids.

“When two friends keep a secret, the worst secret gets less respect.”

Back at the hospital, Daniel stops Mr. Whitman as he’s exiting his room.

“Hey, Old Man… Will I see you tomorrow by any chance?”

Coach Miles stops and turns only his head. “That is a promise that I cannot keep, Man of the House. But. Sabastian wishes to see you, so anything is possible.” He lowers his head and exits the room.

Daniel showed clear signs of vulnerability; growing up was becoming a real reality, and feeling less important even in times of disaster; hurt more than he saw coming. A feeling of numbness started to settle within him, one too that he did not anticipate feeling in any of his futures.

“Daniel Whitman?...”

“Oh hey, Nurse Faithful! Daniel turned to look at his assigned CAN, then immediately turned his focus back to the ceiling. “Time for my evening bath again?”

“Yes. You learn quite fast.” Said the nurse as she closed the door behind her.

Her uniform was skin-tight; her broad waist and hips made Daniel stare intensely. He watched her every move as if she was wearing no clothes. Her skirt rested just about her knees; her glowing, caramel colored skin made all his depression disappear from sight. The way her skirt rode up her thighs when she bent to pick something up, and her boobs were just the size that stood still on their own, even while big. He never took his eyes off of her the entire time she was preparing his bath water; his cock was peak hard underneath his gown, pulsing, aching, screaming to be touched, praying not to be caught.

Daniel thought to himself. “If only I could stand, then I could bury her head into my pillow and fuck her senselessly. Look at that ass; Jane and Rebecca ain’t even got that much fucking ass. God! I’m so fucking horny right now. Can’t she just come over and stuff my fucking mouth full with her breasts and stop acting all professional? God, I want to stuff her pussy full with dick! This fucking nurse is going to drive my hormones insane. Shit! She’s coming, but I’m still fucking hard as a rock. Fuck.”

“Are you ready, Star Boy?”

Dane’s POVThat same evening, Dane went on a walk to clear his mind; the text he had received after the match was still on repeat within his uneasiness.“Maybe I just need a drink.” He thought He still had not alerted anyone about the update from the unknown number; he knew these types of threats had a long shelf life, and some, like Coach Miles, were not so easy to get close to comfortably.Sympathy found him at the vending machine outside the library, which meant either fate or a very good guess, since Dane had told no one where he’d be.“You’ve been avoiding me since spring semester started,” she said, no greeting first, arms folded over a stack of textbooks like how she always remembers to be. “I would like to know why, or I will assume it is because you are a coward.”“I’m not avoiding you. What do you want from me Sympathy?“You walk the long way around the quad now. I have watched you do it twice th

Daniel’s POV Sebastian showed up first, backpack still on, cleats slung over one shoulder from his own practice across town. He leaned next to the foot of Daniel’s bed without thinking of his injuries, like a typical 12-year-old “I heard you scored a goal today, big brother,” Sebastian said with a mocking tone of sarcasm. “Wait until I get out of this bed, you knucklehead. I’m stuck in this bed being useless.” “You’re not useless; you’re just on the bench, as always, bench boy,” Sebastian said it with such conviction that Daniel actually laughed, the first real laugh that hadn’t hurt his ribs in days. “Why’d you even come here today, trying to make me feel some type of way?” “Nah! Just teasing you a little bit. You can’t chase me around the hospital. Haha” “You little wimp. How was school today?” “I know, I love you too.” Sebastian pulled a crumpled

Jane’s POV Jane sat cross-legged on Rebecca’s bed, phone balanced against her knee, replaying the same twelve seconds of video for the fourth time. Rebecca lounged against the headboard, filing her nails as the whole thing bored her. “You’re gonna wear a hole in my screen,” Rebecca said. Why don’t you send it to yourself already? She then asked “I can’t believe he actually says your name like that.” Jane laughed, but it came out thinner than she meant it to. “You weren’t lying; he does have a big dick. I’m so ashamed of how badly I want to feel it stretching me out.” “I don’t lie about dick, Jane. I lie about everything else.” “Comforting much.” Jane set the phone face down for a second, studying Rebecca instead. “How many times has it happened? Actually happened, not the version you tell me.” “Does it matter?” “It matters to me. I should know everything you do when nobody’s looking; I’m your best friend” Rebecca set the nail file down with a sigh, as the question cost

Man’s weird.”“You talk to your cleats before every match. Kissed the left one twice last week.”“That’s different. That’s tradition.” Oscar cracked open a fourth energy drink like the first three hadn’t happened. “Tradition ain’t weird.”Coach Miles stood at the front of the bus once they pulled into the visitors’ lot, one hand braced on the overhead rail, his voice carrying ove
