The marble-floored boardroom of the Brown Empire headquarters was quiet except for the steady tapping of Victory’s fingers against the polished table. Davis sat opposite him, scrolling through his phone with a dark scowl that only deepened as the screen lit with new messages.

Victory broke the silence. “You’ve been on that thing for twenty minutes. What’s going on?”

Davis didn’t look up. “Rumors. Nonsense.”

Victory leaned forward. “What kind of nonsense?”

Davis hesitated before sharing the information. For all his skepticism, he couldn’t deny that three different contacts men who rarely agreed on anything, had all sent him the same cryptic line that morning: ‘The chairman’s son is alive.’

He tossed the phone onto the table with a sharp clatter. “They’re saying Alex's heir didn’t die. That he was alive all along. That he worked here.”

Victory frowned. “What?”

“Exactly,” Davis snapped. “It’s absurd. Nothing more than bar gossip.” He said trying hard to dismiss that rumor, even though hi

The room was dimly lit, the only source of illumination a lamp set in the far corner that painted long shadows across the bare walls. Victory Brown sat at the head of the table, his jaw clenched, his fingers drumming lightly on the polished surface. He had chosen this place deliberately. He sees it a safe house tucked away from prying eyes, where his conversations with Rourke could remain buried in secrecy.Opposite him, Rourke leaned back in his chair, his lips curled in that perpetual half smile that made Victory uneasy. The man had the aura of someone who enjoyed keeping others guessing. His very presence was a constant reminder that alliances with men like him were always dangerous. But in the war for survival inside the Brown Empire, Victory needed dangerous men.“Davis is slipping,” Rourke began, sliding a folder across the table. His voice was smooth, confident, almost too casual for the weight of what he was unveiling. “And I think it’s time we pushed him further down the slo

  • CHAPTER 126: A Photograph

Cyrus Vane prided himself on two things above all which is patience and precision. For decades, those qualities had allowed him to outmaneuver rivals, bleed enemies slowly, and survive where others crumbled. Tonight, though, his patience was rewarded not with guesses, not with rumors, but with something tangible.“You’ll want to see this, sir.”Cyrus flipped it open. Inside were photographs captured from long-range surveillance. One showed Bryan stepping into an underground parking lot. Another showed Daniella, seated at an outdoor Cafe, speaking quietly into her phone.Cyrus’s eyes narrowed. He had suspected Daniella for weeks, but suspicion wasn’t enough. Now he had proof she wasn’t just a shadow hovering near the Browns. She was active, moving, calculating. He knows anyone he sees hovering around Bryan has a connection to him.“Daniella,” he said softly, letting the name linger on his tongue. “The Browns overlooked her. Everyone overlooked her."Marcus cleared his throat. “There’s

  • CHAPTER 125: Watching the predator

The safehouse was quiet, too quiet for Ven’s liking. The heavy curtains muffled the noise of the city outside, and the only sound inside was the faint ticking of an antique clock Bryan had insisted on hanging by the wall. Ven sat behind a broad oak table, its surface littered with scattered reports, handwritten notes, and fragments of newspaper cuttings. Each piece of information was a strand of the Brown Empire affairs.Ven leaned back, running his fingers across his jawline. In the last forty-eight hours, the empire he had sworn to break apart had suffered blows he hadn’t even needed to deliver himself. Kate suspended and Reynolds dead. Henry trying to keep the illusion of control intact. Davis and Victory growing restless, suspicious of each other, though still tied together by blood.“Not my hand, yet it works in my favor,” he murmured to himself.Bryan entered silently, carrying a tray of coffee, setting it down before him. “You’ve barely eaten, boss,” Bryan said softly. His tone

  • CHAPTER 124: Going Down

The boardroom had been a furnace of whispers and stares when Henry announced Kate’s suspension. By the time the session adjourned, the corridors of Brown Empire were heavy with gossip, and every step Davis and Victory took drew curious eyes.Davis was the first to break the silence once they slipped into the secluded executive lounge, a dimly lit room with chairs, whiskey lined neatly along the cabinet, and soundproofed walls designed for such confidential conversations.“Suspension?” Davis spat, throwing his jacket across the couch. “Henry thinks he’s clever, but this is nothing more than a public execution dressed in silk.”Victory lowered himself into the chair opposite him, calm as though he had been expecting Henry’s move all along. He reached for the whiskey bottle and poured two glasses. “It’s not execution,” he said, pushing one glass across the table to his brother. “It’s strategy. He’s trying to keep the empire from collapsing under suspicion.”“Strategy?” Davis barked a lau

  • CHAPTER 123: Another Trouble

The boardroom of the Brown Empire was never designed for silence, but that morning, silence ruled. The long oval table gleamed under the cold light, every leather chair filled with tense faces from the directors, shareholders, siblings. Some glanced at one another, whispers dying the moment Henry’s presence carried into the room.At the head of the table, Henry Brown sat like stone, his gaze sharp, his shoulders heavy with command. To his right sat Davis, chin lifted with smug curiosity. Victory leaned back, arms crossed, watching everything with hawk-like suspicion. Across the table, Kate sat rigid, lips tight, her pride a brittle wall concealing the fire beneath. The other senior shareholders, legal advisors, finance heads shifted nervously, sensing the storm in the air.Henry’s voice cut through the silence.“Last night, I made a decision many of you have already heard whispered. I will now make it official.”Murmurs rippled immediately, but Henry raised a hand, silencing them.“Ef

  • CHAPTER 122: Kate's Suspension

.The night had been mercilessly quiet inside Henry Brown’s office, the kind of silence that gnawed at him more than any storm or argument ever could. His desk lamp burned low, its glow spilling across papers stacked neatly before him. Among them sat a plain, unmarked envelope, innocent at first glance, but heavy enough to change the fate of the Brown Empire.Henry’s hand lingered on the final page of the dossier, his thumb tapping absently as his steel-gray eyes scanned the words again. Every instinct in him screamed caution, yet the evidence was carefully threaded, damning without being conclusive was impossible to dismiss. Kate’s name appeared too many times alongside Reynolds. Their clandestine meetings. Transfers tied to shadow accounts. A whisper of silencing hands that matched too closely the fate of those suspects.Henry pushed back his chair, standing with slow deliberation. He moved toward the tall windows of his office, the city lights stretching endlessly below. His reflecti
