The next morning.

Sitting in his office, Ron was watching one of his father’s old speeches on his mobile.

“Ripping employees off. Making them work hard and overtime. Lying when needed. Getting rid of those that disagree with you… I’m very good at these sorts of things, which is why I’m successful.”

Ron shook his head as a cheeky smile played on his face. “Geez, he was quite rash when he was young. He tried so hard to catch up to Parul Conreid and did everything he could, but things didn’t exactly shape the way he thought they would.

“He had talent and also worked hard, yet he couldn’t achieve first place in the education field. Conreid Lore has held that position in this country for many decades now, but I’m going to change that. I wish Parul Conreid was still healthy and kicking, so I could have taken the first place right before his eyes, but I guess doing it with his son, my friend, isn’t that bad, either.”

Penelope entered his room without knocking. “You should see this, sir.” She

“Beggars are the worst kind of creatures in all existence because they have no passion to do anything except beg,” Simon growled with disgust overflowing through his voice. “Those useless leeches are the shame of the society and don’t deserve to live in this world. Even dogs and pigs have some use, but beggars are purely wasting oxygen. Even if there’s leftover food after this function ends, I would throw it to the dogs, but I wouldn’t give a single grain of rice to a beggar. If you got that into your smelly head, then get lost from my home!”Blood rushed to Adam’s face very much as he tried hard to control his boiling rage, which brought about a stinging pain in his chest.Simon was pointing at the exit.Just then, Evelyn entered the hall and was pleasantly surprised to see Adam.“Boss, what are you doing here?” she quickly came over.Simon’s expression changed, and so did Adam’s.“Why are you here?” Adam asked her.Evelyn looked at Lucy. “My mom couldn’t come, so she sent me to give

As Adam walked away, Lucy was staring at him.“He’s at least thirty years younger, Lucy, and you’re old enough to be his mother, so stop looking at him,” Simon said in a low voice.Lucy spared her husband a cold glance. “Shut your mouth. Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do. I just felt that he looked familiar, that’s all.”“He may be wearing a suit, but he’s just a poor guy,” Simon said. “I can smell it from his body.” He then called a worker and secretly told him to kick Adam out.The worker followed Adam who went to the food counter.Adam was hungry, but he didn’t feel like eating food. Even though his aunt and uncle had taken his wealth, this wedding anniversary was still arranged by them.Adam didn’t want to share their happiness. As he was lost in thought, someone put a hand on his shoulder. He turned around and saw a worker.“You should quietly leave, or I will be forced to kick you out,” the worker warned. He was short but fat, and his eyes were somewhat red, either from the

Many years ago.Adam was a highly confident young man who aced in his academics. He always had at least half a dozen friends following him around. His parents were also successful, so Adam’s life was wonderful. However, once his parents died, his aunt and uncle took all his properties and kicked him out of his own house. As if that shock wasn’t enough, none of his friends or relatives supported Adam.Nobody would answer his calls or even talk to him.Someone who was always surrounded by people was now left alone.Adam’s confidence as well as his interest in life itself got completely crushed. On top of that, he developed a phobia. He was afraid to close his eyes and sleep many nights. He would be afraid when someone wasn’t around. He didn’t like being in closed rooms. He didn’t know if this phobia had a name or not, but he didn’t care as nobody in the world cared for him.The depression only deepened, and Adam honestly didn’t think he’d live long enough in the streets. However, he mir

  • CHAPTER 96

“If you were really a beggar, then what happened? How did you change yourself?” the beggar curiously asked Adam. “Did you rob a bank or something?”“No, it was a stroke of luck,” Adam replied. “I’m still taking that test. If I don’t pass it, I might end up as a beggar one day again.”“I wish that luck visits me as well,” the beggar said.“Don’t worry, Brother,” Adam saw that this beggar had a bent leg, which didn’t allow him to walk properly. He took out his checkbook from his suit and signed it for 5000 dollars. “It’s not much, but this is all I can give you right now. You better not use it for drugs, or the next time I see you, I will beat your ass.”“I will spend this very carefully,” the beggar quickly said. “But I don’t think the bank guards will allow me to enter the bank if I go in these dirty clothes. I have to buy new clothes.”Adam then took his suit out and gave it to the beggar who felt more touched by this gesture. It brought tears to the beggar’s eyes.“Nobody has been t

  • CHAPTER 95

Both Evelyn and Adam had gone to Sterling villa and talked with the producer, Jacob sterling. They were expecting him to look cool and grand. He was indeed a big, handsome fellow despite his age being in sixties, but he looked to be under great stress because of his movie being released incorrectly.“From behind the scenes, someone messed with me on purpose,” Jacob told them. “I know you’ve come here to get solid information from me, but I can’t guarantee you anything right now because all the people I took money from to produce the film are grabbing my throats right now. I have to pay them hundreds of millions in interest. So, until I clear all that, I won’t be able to release the film. Even if I do release it, will the people come to the theaters again?”“They will, sir,” Evelyn told him. “All your past movies were blockbusters. There was not an average film, so I think people will understand that some mistake happened this time and will definitely make many people come to the theate

  • CHAPTER 94

Adam and Evelyn came to a restaurant. It was mid noon at the time. Both of them were sweaty and hungry. Evelyn first ordered some drinks to quench her thirst, and then she told the waiters to wait for fifteen minutes before prepping their meals because she just drank a lot of water. This gave both of them fifteen minutes of breathing space. Evelyn still couldn’t forget burying the beggar, and she also didn’t understand why Adam would go to such lengths. “If you don’t mind me asking, did you meet that beggar in the past? I mean, did he stop in front of your car at some traffic signal and then ask for some money?” “No, this is my first time seeing him,” Adam replied in a calm but slightly knowing, heavy voice. “But this isn’t the first time I have seen beggars die overnight. During winters, some of them freeze to death on the streets. Some have their toes and legs frozen overnight that they have to get amputated afterward.” “What?” Evelyn covered her mouth in shock. “You sound like
