"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to inform you that eight years after the death of late Lord Stanford Snow, his anonymous Son, Young Lord Snow, will be returning to society to search for a suitable wife..."

"His wife must come from an elite family in the society."

"Eligible families are encouraged to prepare their daughters and put parties together."

"He shall attend and then make his choice before the year runs out!"

"Good luck to the beautiful bachelorettes of New York!"

This news turns the busy city upside down in less than an hour.

Meetings are postponed, flights are cancelled, and members of the influential families immediately lock themselves in their living rooms to come up with a plan.

No one has seen the anonymous Young Lord Snow before, but surely the richest heir in the world would make the best husband for their daughters!

They are determined to throw the biggest parties, put their daughters into expensive dresses, anything that would get the attention of young Lord Snow....

Andrew Hudson bursts through the door, stunned to see that his grandmother and parents are already seated.

"What took you so long to come here, Andrew?" His grandmother snarls.

"Yes, Andrew, don't you care about the family anymore? Don't you know that if we don't come up with a plan fast, another family will beat us to it!"

"Don't you want your sister to be the wife of the richest man in the city?" His father barks.

Andrew hiss as he takes off his jacket. "Relax, everyone, the announcement was just made about two hours ago. You are acting like he has picked a wife already! Besides, need I remind you all that Emerald is already... Married?"

The family members look away with guilt and sips from their glasses of champagne.

Eight years ago, their grandfather was in a terrible car accident, but his life was saved by a mysterious man.

The man suffered a serious head trauma and a spinal injury in the process, and because of that, Old Mister Harrison Hudson vowed to repay the man.

He forced his precious granddaughter, the most beautiful girl in the entire city, to be married to his crippled saviour.

Emerald hated being married to this man, but her grandfather won't hear of it.

If she dares to divorce him very early in the marriage, her inheritance gets cut off too.

Harrison Hudson, the family patriarch, died only five years later, but Emerald is still married to him because of her grandfather's will.

Her grandfather's lawyers will make sure that she is kicked out of the house if she dares to leave the cripple...

This year, the marriage will clock seven years, and she will be able to slap the cripple with a divorce papers, but the wedding anniversary is over eight months away.

Lord Snow would have picked another lady to be his wife, and the Hudson family will regret it for the rest of their lives.

Seeing this obstacle in front of them, Kim Hudson, Emerald's mother, stands up with a determined look on her face.

"We have to kill the cripple!"

Andrew scoffs and looks away. "I plan to run for mayor in the upcoming elections, I won't be staining my hands with blood."

"How about we hire someone to do it for us?"

"And the person will just announce to our enemies what we have done, and Lord Snow will have nothing to do with us."

A troubled sigh leaves the mouth of everyone. They don't want to fail in this mission.

A soft knock comes on the door, and then it opens.

Everyone immediately has a snarl on their faces as an old wheelchair squeaks as the disabled man on it pushes it forward.

He is very handsome, tall and has the broadest of shoulders, but he looks so poor in his cheap suit and the tattered wheelchair he uses.

His name is Stanley Adkins, and he is the rubbish son-in-law that they have been speaking about.

"Grandmother, I went to buy your morning newspaper!" He tells her with a happy smile. "They didn't open early because of the rain, but I stood in it to get you the best print!"

Even with all his trouble, the aged woman only hiss and snatches the paper from him.

"Did you eat my leftover apple pie yesterday, Stanley?" Kim accuses him with a rude voice.

Stanley's eyes blinks with surprise. "Well, yes, mother, the kitchen staff said it was becoming stale and they wanted to give it to the dogs. I only took a small piece of it–"

"How dare you take food that is meant for my precious dogs?!" Kim blasts him. "Do you, a cripple and useless leech to this family, think that you are better than my imported dogs?!"

Stanley keeps his eyes to the ground, and his hands on his wheels. "No, mother."

"The next time you do something like this, you will sleep in the rain for seven days, now get out!"

Stanley murmurs a thank you and starts to move towards the door.

They are impatiently waiting for him to leave, so that they can continue their plan of getting rid of him and marrying his wife to someone else, but he stops and turns around.

"Please, sirs, and ma'ams, there is something that I want to bring to your notice." His fingers fidgeting with his wheels.

His father-in-law snorts and looks away in contempt. "Well, go on with it, it's not like we have all day."

Stanley holds his breath before he starts to speak. "It's Emerald, again. This time around, she brought her boyfriend into our matrimonial bedroom and had sex with him all night while I had to sleep outside in my chair. I needed my medicine, but she didn't open the door to allow me in, and that caused my legs to hurt all night."

This isn't something new, in fact Emerald has never honoured her marriage for even a single day.

She has kept so many boyfriends, and Stanley would dare not to complain, because he knows that his in-laws are only going to take her side.

The reason why he has voiced out this time around is because if he skips taking his medicine, then the condition of his legs keeps getting worse. That's the only reason.

This is a simple and reasonable complaint, but it manages to enrage the Hudson family, and they immediately start to rain insults on him.

The Hudson grandmother in fact takes her shoe off and starts to beat him with it, like he is a disobedient toddler.

"You shameless boy!" She cries. "we allowed you, a nobody, to marry into our family, and you dare complain about my granddaughter?!"

"How dare you complain about Emerald and what she does? Is she not an adult? You speak as if your legs are the only disabled part of you. Of course she had to find a real man to satisfy her!"

"Was it not our family's money that was used to get you the drugs?! Look at the ungrateful fool that grandfather brought into our family!"

Stanley feels the tears welling in his eyes. He knows that they won't stop until he apologizes.

So, even though his legs are painful and he can't walk, he throws himself to the ground to bow face-flat to his in-laws.

The tears in his eyes drop to the ground, but at least they can't see them in this position. He strongly will hold back what's left of his honour.

"My in-laws, I'm sorry for appearing to be ungrateful. I will go back to trying to be a good husband to Emerald."

Yes, you do that. Then maybe my poor grandchild doesn't have to have so many boyfriends!"

Stanley pulls his chair closer, so that he can get on it, but he falls on the first two attempts, earning the mockery and laughter of his in-laws.

Grandmother's eyes casually go to the television, the picture of the Late Lord Snow is being shown on the television, and Stanley is not that far from it.

With a pause, she notices something that makes her stifle laughter.

"Goodness, you indeed have the nose and the jaw of the late Lord Snow. If not for being dirt poor, you would have passed for his son!"

    115. As soon as the president is able to once again breathe after that abominable smell, he takes out the gun that is kept in his desk, and he shoots the sole survivor soldier right in his head. The poor, frightened man didn't even have the time to register his impending fate before he drops to the ground. Franklin has his fingers pressed against his nose as he watches his brother's victim bleed into the expensive carpets. "I promised that you were going to spare him, brother, "Franklin calmly says. "That was before I knew that he was going to dump severed rotting hands all over my office floor!" President Sampson yells, before throwing the gun carelessly. "Find someone to clean this up, immediately!" He is about to walk out of the office when the telephone starts to ring, and this causes both men to stop. This particular telephone line is not given out of just anyone, except a few that are members of his private circle. "You should pick up, brother." Franklin nods. "I know tha

President Sampson is walking through the wings of the presidential Villa, a cigarette between his lips. It's now been twenty four hours since he sent out his men to put the fear of God into the anonymous Lord Snow, but he hasn't heard back from them. His brother, Franklin, walks in, slightly frowning to see how troubled his brother is. "What's the matter, brother?" He sits down, pouring himself a glass of scotch. "The boys I sent out, they are not back yet," he complains, hand under his chin. "I can't help but worry that something has happened." Franklin only laughs. "What bad can happen, brother? Have you forgotten that you are the President?" "So, you think that they must have captured that girl that refused to sign over the papers?" He huffs. "Better still, I think that they treated her so badly that no one is going to have the heart to go against you again. I'm sure that even the Lord Snow will soon call and beg you." This makes the President happy again, and he pours hi

Lauren is in her hospital bed, tight asleep in her bed after the full body checkup from the doctors. Stanley wouldn't have it any other way. Paris has refused to leave her side too, because she can't believe that Lauren almost died right in her presence. She wipes her tears with the back of her hands and looks at Seven. "I'm sorry, I should have done better to protect her." Seven laughs. "Paris, don't bother yourself over that. You are just a tiny woman, what could you have done against men with guns?" He pockets his phone before going to make sure that the drip connected to Lauren's arm is going just fine. Once he is sure, he nods. "Keep an eye on her, okay?" "No problem, sir." "If anyone, except the doctor, tries to force their way into this place, just let me know." He walks towards the door, but Paris holds his arm. "Those bad people that were taken away by the army? What's going to happen to them?" Seven smirks. "Paris, it's better you don't know." ******On another f

Immediately the men see Seven with the gun, they immediately cower and start to rush to the back. This is the same person whose picture was shown to them, and they were warned to avoid him, if possible, because he is dangerous. Once Lauren sees Seven, she drops her hands into her hands and starts to cry from relief. That breaks Seven's heart, and he immediately rushes to check her. "Lauren, are you fine?" He asks her. "Please, tell me that you are." She is terribly shaken, but she manages to nod, but he can't be deceived. He sees the small blood on her lower lip, and because he knows that all she is going to do is undermine her pain, he just turns to Paris, who is ever ready to spill. "It's that one on the ground!" She points. "He slapped her so hard because she refused to sign some papers!" As if on cue, the man starts to cough and slightly lifts his head. He is already pale because of how much he is bleeding out, but Seven won't allow that. There supposed to be a special p

Hearing that they have come for Lauren makes Roman's blood go cold immediately. He knows that they are not going to spare her even a little bit. Thank heavens that he told her to go up, and not come out till help comes. "Please, I beg you, this thing you are doing, Lord Snow won't like it very much," he begs. "Why don't you people calm down so that we can go to my office, and we can talk," he says, but the leader won't have any of it. Before Roman can even blink, the leader has ordered two men to go over and beat Roman with the butt of their guns and bats. They beat him till the employees hiding around are moved to the verge of tears. Yet, not one of them dares to take out their phone and call the police. These people in dark clothes didn't hide the fact that they came from the President! Of course the police will not be able to help them in this case, only their boss, Lord Snow... "Where is that bitch?!" The leader shouts. "We are not leaving this place without her!" Roman g

"Please, Morgan, tell me that you rejected the money! Tell me that this is all a joke!!!" Roman begs, but Morgan laughs in his face. "That's the easiest money I ever made in my life," Morgan boasts. "Of course I took it!" That's all that Roman needs to hear, he runs out of the office and straight into the elevator, his phone already in his left hand. He dials in Lauren's number as quickly as he can, and the moment he hers it ring and ring, while waiting for her to pick up, it's like torture for him. "Hello?" He sighs and shuts his eyes. "Thank God, Lauren." "I'm sorry, who is this?" "It's me, Roman Snow." "Oh my God, sir!" She gasps. "I'm sorry, I didn't even know that you had my number." "Please, Mrs Adkins, we have to skip the pleasantries immediately. Where are you?" It's such an odd question that Lauren is quiet for a few seconds. "I'm in my car, sir. I just got here from the mansion," He is already on the ground floor, and he is using the side exit that takes him t
