Even though Stan has apologized to his in-laws and gone back to his job as a doorman at one of his in-laws' company, he must return back to the house in the evening.
He uses all the money he can find in his pocket to buy for Emerald a bouquet of rose flowers. Her parents have probably told her what he said, and he will need to get into her good graces to be allowed to sleep in their bedroom tonight. Sleeping in their bedroom doesn't mean he will get to sleep in bed with her. In fact in their seven years of marriage, Stanley has always been made to sleep on the rug, on the ground, while she takes the king-sized bed. The only time that Emerald has ever been intimate with him was when they were both very drunk on their wedding night. Needless to say, she was highly disgusted and made sure it never happened again... The door of the bedroom has been firmly shut, and the knob won't turn. "Is Miss Hudson back?" He asks one of the servants. "She went to a party, and she instructed that you shouldn't be allowed into the room." "But what if I am tired?" "I believe she said that it's better to go sleep in the horses' stable if you are so impatient." Stanley gives the servant girl a sad smile and he remains by the door. He had no idea that he would be made to wait outside for almost six hours, and he falls asleep. He wakes up to feel the jab of a heel in his rib, and when he opens his eyes, his wife is hitting him with one of her high-heeled shoes. "Is this what you do now? Sit on your ass all day and come snoring by my door?" She snorts. Hearing her voice, he immediately drives all traces of sleep from his eyes and sits up straight. "Emerald, did you have a nice day at work? I was waiting for you to come back, I even brought flowers..." He raises them to her, but she scrunches her nose and takes a huge step back. "Cheap flowers? That's what you have gotten me? Do I look like a road side whore?!" Stanley's heart is shattered to pieces. These are the same flowers that he used his last coins to purchase. "I'm- I'm sorry my dear wife. I didn't mean to insult you by getting cheap flowers, but that's all I could–" "I give you five minutes to get rid of the flowers and come back, or I am going to lock you out again. Do not test my patience, cripple." ****** Stanley has a very good night's sleep because he got his medicine, and the rug doesn't make a bad bed at all. He would have slept some more, but he feels as if he has been suddenly plunged into an ice cold pond. His eyes flings open and that's when he sees his wife, angrily standing over him with an empty bucket in her hand. "Ha! I can't believe that you are not just crippled, but also lazy! All the servants of the house have woken up, but you choose to sleep into the late morning like the king of this mansion!" Stanley's lips parts to explain himself. The only reason that he has slept this long was because of how tired he was yesterday, but she doesn't care for his excuses. "Oh, shut up! Do you think I have time to listen to whatever you have to say when John Plummer just came to visit?!" Stanley immediately feels his tongue weak in his mouth. Who doesn't know John Plummer? He is a wealthy and respected individual in the city, but he is mainly known as the butler of the elite Snow family. He has worked for the family for more than forty years, and he knows the in and out of the family. He alone bears their secrets, but he would never reveal it. In the past years, he has been the spokesperson for the family, as they have decided to remain in their huge mansion and quietly run their business. What has he come to find in the Hudson household? Has the young Lord Snow already chosen Emerald to be his bride? Nevertheless, Stanley gets up and changes to dry clothes, before going to the garden to trim the flowers. That's one of his chores, because even though he is a son-in-law of the Hudson family, he is no more than a servant. A golden toilet works the same as a pauper's loo... Back in the house, Mister Raymond shakes John Plummer's hand heavily as both men laugh. "I am glad to see that my lord's shares are doing so well," John Plummer smiles heartily. "Lord Snow is happy to hear about the progress made even after his father's death." "Tell the young Lord Snow that he has nothing to worry about. The Hudson empire is a fierce ally of his!" Mister Hudson nods with much enthusiasm and a mighty grin. Emerald has been following them around like a quiet mouse. She has hurriedly put on her best dress and some make-up, so that her beauty can attract the eyes of John Plummer. They are hoping he will be able to take word of her beauty back to his new boss, so that he will swiftly pick her as a wife... Her father stylishly pulls her forward, like he didn't even know she has been there all along. "Oh, look who has just walked in! Mister Plummer, this is my only daughter, Emerald Hudson!" Emerald is looking all meek and sweet. She even curtsy for the old man, and allows him to kiss her hand. "Wow, what a beauty," John Plummer says politely. "She has only returned to the country after spending two weeks doing charity work in Africa," Mister Hudson lies shamelessly. "tell him, Em!" "Oh, sir, we fed over three hundred thousand children." "A pious girl," John nods, looking impressed. "She would make the best wife for your master, wouldn't she?" Mister Hudson suggests. "He won't even have to look that far!" John Plummer scratches his eyebrow and laughs nervously. "She is a good girl, indeed. I believe the young Lord Snow would be intrigued when he finally meets her at the party you will throw." Emerald and her father exchange a quick glance. This hasn't gone the way they expected. John Plummer concludes their business talk, and now, Emerald and her father sees him off to his convoy. On their way, they meet Stanley by the door, his face stricken with fear as he desperately tries to wheel himself away. His in-laws have vehemently warned him that he is not to appear in front of important guests whenever they come by the mansion. It's not his wish for him to show himself to John Plummer, but the wheels of his old wheelchair have started to misbehave again. John Plummer jaw drops to the ground when he sees Stanley. He is about to say something, but he quickly stops himself. "Mister Plummer, what's the matter? You look like you have seen a ghost," Emerald says. "Oh, don't worry about me, child. I'm fine," but he is already sweating profusely, and he wipes his face with a handkerchief. "I apologize for obstructing the way, sir," Stanley's wheels are moving again, and he tries to disappear as quickly as possible. "Not so fast, Stanley! Come back and properly apologize to John Plummer! Do you know who he works for?! You have just insulted the high Snow family!" Mister Hudson demands. "We apologize, sir. This man is nothing but the cripple who tends to our garden," Emerald says. Stanley feels a jab goes in his heart as his wife calls him a mere gardener, and not her husband, but he keeps his eyes on the ground. He dare not do otherwise. Before anyone can say anything, something slips from Stanley's curled fingers, and falls loudly to the ground. It's a golden signet, and it's not just anyone's, it's the same ring that belongs to the late Lord Snow! How is it that a poor cripple has come to be in possession of such jewelry?!Latest Chapter

115. As soon as the president is able to once again breathe after that abominable smell, he takes out the gun that is kept in his desk, and he shoots the sole survivor soldier right in his head. The poor, frightened man didn't even have the time to register his impending fate before he drops to the ground. Franklin has his fingers pressed against his nose as he watches his brother's victim bleed into the expensive carpets. "I promised that you were going to spare him, brother, "Franklin calmly says. "That was before I knew that he was going to dump severed rotting hands all over my office floor!" President Sampson yells, before throwing the gun carelessly. "Find someone to clean this up, immediately!" He is about to walk out of the office when the telephone starts to ring, and this causes both men to stop. This particular telephone line is not given out of just anyone, except a few that are members of his private circle. "You should pick up, brother." Franklin nods. "I know tha

President Sampson is walking through the wings of the presidential Villa, a cigarette between his lips. It's now been twenty four hours since he sent out his men to put the fear of God into the anonymous Lord Snow, but he hasn't heard back from them. His brother, Franklin, walks in, slightly frowning to see how troubled his brother is. "What's the matter, brother?" He sits down, pouring himself a glass of scotch. "The boys I sent out, they are not back yet," he complains, hand under his chin. "I can't help but worry that something has happened." Franklin only laughs. "What bad can happen, brother? Have you forgotten that you are the President?" "So, you think that they must have captured that girl that refused to sign over the papers?" He huffs. "Better still, I think that they treated her so badly that no one is going to have the heart to go against you again. I'm sure that even the Lord Snow will soon call and beg you." This makes the President happy again, and he pours hi

Lauren is in her hospital bed, tight asleep in her bed after the full body checkup from the doctors. Stanley wouldn't have it any other way. Paris has refused to leave her side too, because she can't believe that Lauren almost died right in her presence. She wipes her tears with the back of her hands and looks at Seven. "I'm sorry, I should have done better to protect her." Seven laughs. "Paris, don't bother yourself over that. You are just a tiny woman, what could you have done against men with guns?" He pockets his phone before going to make sure that the drip connected to Lauren's arm is going just fine. Once he is sure, he nods. "Keep an eye on her, okay?" "No problem, sir." "If anyone, except the doctor, tries to force their way into this place, just let me know." He walks towards the door, but Paris holds his arm. "Those bad people that were taken away by the army? What's going to happen to them?" Seven smirks. "Paris, it's better you don't know." ******On another f

Immediately the men see Seven with the gun, they immediately cower and start to rush to the back. This is the same person whose picture was shown to them, and they were warned to avoid him, if possible, because he is dangerous. Once Lauren sees Seven, she drops her hands into her hands and starts to cry from relief. That breaks Seven's heart, and he immediately rushes to check her. "Lauren, are you fine?" He asks her. "Please, tell me that you are." She is terribly shaken, but she manages to nod, but he can't be deceived. He sees the small blood on her lower lip, and because he knows that all she is going to do is undermine her pain, he just turns to Paris, who is ever ready to spill. "It's that one on the ground!" She points. "He slapped her so hard because she refused to sign some papers!" As if on cue, the man starts to cough and slightly lifts his head. He is already pale because of how much he is bleeding out, but Seven won't allow that. There supposed to be a special p

Hearing that they have come for Lauren makes Roman's blood go cold immediately. He knows that they are not going to spare her even a little bit. Thank heavens that he told her to go up, and not come out till help comes. "Please, I beg you, this thing you are doing, Lord Snow won't like it very much," he begs. "Why don't you people calm down so that we can go to my office, and we can talk," he says, but the leader won't have any of it. Before Roman can even blink, the leader has ordered two men to go over and beat Roman with the butt of their guns and bats. They beat him till the employees hiding around are moved to the verge of tears. Yet, not one of them dares to take out their phone and call the police. These people in dark clothes didn't hide the fact that they came from the President! Of course the police will not be able to help them in this case, only their boss, Lord Snow... "Where is that bitch?!" The leader shouts. "We are not leaving this place without her!" Roman g

"Please, Morgan, tell me that you rejected the money! Tell me that this is all a joke!!!" Roman begs, but Morgan laughs in his face. "That's the easiest money I ever made in my life," Morgan boasts. "Of course I took it!" That's all that Roman needs to hear, he runs out of the office and straight into the elevator, his phone already in his left hand. He dials in Lauren's number as quickly as he can, and the moment he hers it ring and ring, while waiting for her to pick up, it's like torture for him. "Hello?" He sighs and shuts his eyes. "Thank God, Lauren." "I'm sorry, who is this?" "It's me, Roman Snow." "Oh my God, sir!" She gasps. "I'm sorry, I didn't even know that you had my number." "Please, Mrs Adkins, we have to skip the pleasantries immediately. Where are you?" It's such an odd question that Lauren is quiet for a few seconds. "I'm in my car, sir. I just got here from the mansion," He is already on the ground floor, and he is using the side exit that takes him t
