One day earlier....

Stanley is wheeling himself out of the flower shop. He has just gotten his wife some flowers, but he is not happy.

How can he be happy when he just told his in-laws that his wife is cheating on him, but they defended Emerald and insulted the hell out of him?

A heavy cloud of depression has fallen on him, and he doesn't care about the cars angrily honking at him.

He is crossing the road in his wheelchair, but he is too lost in his thoughts to pay attention properly.

If his eyes are up, he will see a convoy of cars coming at him with great speed.

Before he can get out of the way, one of the cars gives him a slight brush, and he finds himself in a small puddle of muddy water.

His wheelchair, which is barely holding on to functionality, has a small dent on one of the wheels.

Stanley looks at himself and heaves, silently cursing his bad luck. Apart from the small cut on his cheek, and the ruin of his clothes, he is unhurt.

His wife's flowers lay a few feet away from him, all in good shape.

People are already stopping to stare at him, which Stanley hates, so he starts to pull himself to get back into his wheelchair.

A man wearing a very expensive suit steps out of the car, and walks towards him.

"Oh, crap," Stanley mutters to himself.

He already knows what's going to happen. This rich man is going to curse and spit on him, before asking why he didn't get off the road quicker, but the opposite happens.

This man is old, his hair is all gray, and his face is wrinkled.

Yet, he goes down on both knees, not minding that the mud will ruin his luxury outfit.

"Young Master Stan, is this really you?" He place a shaky hand on Stanley's shoulder. "I can't believe my eyes! I have been looking for you for eight years! Your father's empire is waiting for your takeover!”

Stanley is perplexed. He can't recognize this man, even when he tries as hard as he can.

"Ho– how do you know my name, Mister? I don't know you. I think you have gotten the wrong person."

"Oh, young master, you can still tell a funny joke. How can you say you don't remember me? I was the one who taught you how to ride a bike. Remember that mark on your eyebrow, when you crashed into your father's Bentley?"

Stanley reaches to touch his eyebrow. There has always been a mark there, but he can't remember how he got it.

"You are who?"

The old man's eyebrows pulls together in worry. "Sir, it's me! Johnny, the butler!"

Stanley still shakes his head negatively. "I'm sorry, sir, but I don't know who you are."

Stanley is not trying to be difficult, or repeatedly lying to this man for no reason. It's true, he can't recall who he is.

It's due to that unfortunate accident that happened seven years ago. He didn't only lose his ability to walk, he also lost a mighty chunk of his memory. He doesn't remember anything from his childhood until right before the accident.

That's one of the reasons why Harrison Hudson, the man he saved from the accident, made sure to have him marry into the family, so that he wouldn't be left without a support system.

John Plummer is not discouraged when Stanley fails to recognize him, instead he asks the men to put him into his car and they keep on driving.

"Where have you been, young Master? I have searched the ends of the earth." John exclaims, he can't take his eyes off Stanley.

"I'm sorry, Mister, I don't know you. If you are very certain that it's me you're talking about, then I should inform you that I had an accident..."

"An accident?! When was that? Were you treated by only the best of doctors? God, this is a nightmare! They have no idea how precious you are!"

At first, Stanley is stunned by this man's reaction, but then he starts to laugh.

How can he be someone important to this man when he is a nobody to his in-laws?

"How can you forget who you are, Stan? You're your father's only son, the most precious thing to him!" John reminds him.

"Who is my father?" Stan asks, and it's not meant to be a sarcastic question.

When John Plummer hears this, he inhales deeply and starts to tell the whole story to Stan.

His father, Lord Sanford Snow, was married to his mother, Nancy Adkins, but the marriage was unrecognized by his parents because Nancy was so poor.

She unfortunately died during childbirth and Lord Stanford never stopped mourning for her as he raised his son.

When Stanley was thirteen years old, his father decided to marry someone else to be a kind mother to Stanley.

He married Fanny Snow, and God, John Plummer's face turns pale when he mentions that woman.

"Gosh, that woman gave you hell. She would have killed you if I wasn't there to save you. She wanted the entire Snow family wealth. Thank God that she was finally committed to an institution..."

"I have a step mother?"

"Yes, young Master. I think that the only good thing about your memory loss is that you don't remember all the evil that she did to you..."

"Well, she is not the only one who has hurt me," Stanley's lips curl in vexation as he remembers the Hudsons.

"And you? You're just a butler? Why do you have such authority and wealth if you are only a common servant?" Stanley asks.

John Plummer heartily laughs. "Oh, young master, you used to ask me the same question when you were just a little boy. Your father rewarded me for being loyal for over forty years, and I became his assistant at some point. I am the one person who has been holding everything back, waiting for you to come and take over..."

Stanley teeth bares as he looks out of the window. "Are you trying to tell me that I am a billionaire heir?"

"A trillionaire, sir. You have just become the world's first trillionaire."

Nah, this is too ridiculous for Stanley to believe. The fact that he has lost his memory is not helping his disbelief.

What if this man is not who he claims to be, but is a bad person, maybe an organ harvester.

"I'm no longer interested in this! Drop me off immediately!" Stanley demands out of the blue, making John Plummer's face fall.

"But sir, I am very happy to see you. I have to take you back to the Snow mansion–"

"Drop me immediately, or I am going to be forced to punch someone!" Stanley screams, and he means every word of it.

Even though it pains John Plummer more than anything, he asks the convoy to come to a stop.

Stanley's wheelchair is dropped, and the door is opened for him.

"Please, young Master, before you go, can you hold on to this for me?"John asks.

He dips his hand into his pocket and shows Stanley a pure gold signet.

It belonged to his late father, and John Plummer has been holding on to it for him all these years.

"If I take it, will you leave me alone then?" Stanley heaves.

John hates to accept this, but this confused man is indeed his master. He must not disobey him.

"Yes, young master, I will not bother you unless you want to see me again," John bows.

So, Stanley snatches off the ring, pushing it into his pocket.

That's how Stanley Adkins, the useless cripple, came to be with the signet of Stanford Snow, the richest man in the world.

Hearing that, John takes in a sharp breath as he turns to his son. His eyes are sunk in with disappointment. "What have you done, Trevor?!" He barks at the brat. "John, stop thinking I'm suggesting replacing you. You are just an old man, and you will need an assistant for yourself. Do not worry, I will keep you for as long as your old ass is willing to work for me." John's face returns to normal and he runs his hand over his chest with a short laugh. "Oh, sir, if that's what you mean, then I have the best person in mind. My oldest son, I have trained him to the best of my ability. He will be the best fit for the job." "Alright, then," Stanley returns to his room. "I'm going to freshen up, so make sure that he is downstairs before I am back. He will start working today as soon as I meet him." "Yes, young Master." John struts away to make sure that the house is in order, and that breakfast will be ready as soon as Stanley is done. As for his son, ten minutes, and he is already waiting for the young Lord Snow in the living room. "Dad, do you think my suit is good enough?" The young man worries. "Do not worry, this kind of thing doesn't co

I don't know who you are, but you are destroying my life, my family, and everything that I have worked so hard for!" But Stanley shrugs carelessly. Mister Watkins almost chokes on his champagne, and the girls burst out with laughter. "Marry one of my daughters?! That's just ridiculous! What job do you even have?" "Well, sir, I am an under butler. I am being trained to take over from John Plummer as soon as he can't work again." Stanley says, and this highly irritates the Watkins family. How dare someone like him show interest in their carefully raised girls? "This is the most funny thing I have heard in a while!" Geneva, the oldest says. "Let me ask you, Stanley, how many companies do you have?" Stanley shrugs. "As of yesterday, none." "How much is in your name?" "I honestly haven't checked for the accurate number." "And how many luxury cars do you own?" Stanley stops and turns to John, before sighing. "The only means of transportation to my name is my old wheelchair!" "I knew it!" Winnie snaps her finger. "This bastard is not just dirt poor! He is a cripple! How dare a cripple dare to say he wants to marry one of us!"

The young Doctor is on her feet, head bowed in regret. "I'm sorry, sir, I didn't mean any disrespect. All I wanted to do was to help Lord Snow." "Please, leave," John points to the door. "Did you hear? The butler is returning with the young Master today!" "Thank the heavens! But where has the man been since the death of his father? It's been eight years since anyone set their eyes on him." "Well, maybe he has been abroad for business. All we are grateful for is that he is back..." There are over a hundred servants, and they make sure that they are in their best uniforms to welcome him. John Plummer pulls the car to the front, and then he nods his head with satisfaction when he sees the manner of orderliness. They are prepared for anything, but definitely not to see that the young Master snow is a cripple. One of them forgets his manners and lets out a very audible chuckle of mockery, which makes Stanley stop his wheelchair and stare at him through dark and angry eyes. "John?" Stanley snaps his fingers. "Yes, young master." "Kick this one out, immediately." Stanley says. The man immediately falls down on his face and begs like his life depends on it. "Oh, si
