One day earlier....

Stanley is wheeling himself out of the flower shop. He has just gotten his wife some flowers, but he is not happy.

How can he be happy when he just told his in-laws that his wife is cheating on him, but they defended Emerald and insulted the hell out of him?

A heavy cloud of depression has fallen on him, and he doesn't care about the cars angrily honking at him.

He is crossing the road in his wheelchair, but he is too lost in his thoughts to pay attention properly.

If his eyes are up, he will see a convoy of cars coming at him with great speed.

Before he can get out of the way, one of the cars gives him a slight brush, and he finds himself in a small puddle of muddy water.

His wheelchair, which is barely holding on to functionality, has a small dent on one of the wheels.

Stanley looks at himself and heaves, silently cursing his bad luck. Apart from the small cut on his cheek, and the ruin of his clothes, he is unhurt.

His wife's flowers lay a few feet away from him, all in good shape.

People are already stopping to stare at him, which Stanley hates, so he starts to pull himself to get back into his wheelchair.

A man wearing a very expensive suit steps out of the car, and walks towards him.

"Oh, crap," Stanley mutters to himself.

He already knows what's going to happen. This rich man is going to curse and spit on him, before asking why he didn't get off the road quicker, but the opposite happens.

This man is old, his hair is all gray, and his face is wrinkled.

Yet, he goes down on both knees, not minding that the mud will ruin his luxury outfit.

"Young Master Stan, is this really you?" He place a shaky hand on Stanley's shoulder. "I can't believe my eyes! I have been looking for you for eight years! Your father's empire is waiting for your takeover!”

Stanley is perplexed. He can't recognize this man, even when he tries as hard as he can.

"Ho– how do you know my name, Mister? I don't know you. I think you have gotten the wrong person."

"Oh, young master, you can still tell a funny joke. How can you say you don't remember me? I was the one who taught you how to ride a bike. Remember that mark on your eyebrow, when you crashed into your father's Bentley?"

Stanley reaches to touch his eyebrow. There has always been a mark there, but he can't remember how he got it.

"You are who?"

The old man's eyebrows pulls together in worry. "Sir, it's me! Johnny, the butler!"

Stanley still shakes his head negatively. "I'm sorry, sir, but I don't know who you are."

Stanley is not trying to be difficult, or repeatedly lying to this man for no reason. It's true, he can't recall who he is.

It's due to that unfortunate accident that happened seven years ago. He didn't only lose his ability to walk, he also lost a mighty chunk of his memory. He doesn't remember anything from his childhood until right before the accident.

That's one of the reasons why Harrison Hudson, the man he saved from the accident, made sure to have him marry into the family, so that he wouldn't be left without a support system.

John Plummer is not discouraged when Stanley fails to recognize him, instead he asks the men to put him into his car and they keep on driving.

"Where have you been, young Master? I have searched the ends of the earth." John exclaims, he can't take his eyes off Stanley.

"I'm sorry, Mister, I don't know you. If you are very certain that it's me you're talking about, then I should inform you that I had an accident..."

"An accident?! When was that? Were you treated by only the best of doctors? God, this is a nightmare! They have no idea how precious you are!"

At first, Stanley is stunned by this man's reaction, but then he starts to laugh.

How can he be someone important to this man when he is a nobody to his in-laws?

"How can you forget who you are, Stan? You're your father's only son, the most precious thing to him!" John reminds him.

"Who is my father?" Stan asks, and it's not meant to be a sarcastic question.

When John Plummer hears this, he inhales deeply and starts to tell the whole story to Stan.

His father, Lord Sanford Snow, was married to his mother, Nancy Adkins, but the marriage was unrecognized by his parents because Nancy was so poor.

She unfortunately died during childbirth and Lord Stanford never stopped mourning for her as he raised his son.

When Stanley was thirteen years old, his father decided to marry someone else to be a kind mother to Stanley.

He married Fanny Snow, and God, John Plummer's face turns pale when he mentions that woman.

"Gosh, that woman gave you hell. She would have killed you if I wasn't there to save you. She wanted the entire Snow family wealth. Thank God that she was finally committed to an institution..."

"I have a step mother?"

"Yes, young Master. I think that the only good thing about your memory loss is that you don't remember all the evil that she did to you..."

"Well, she is not the only one who has hurt me," Stanley's lips curl in vexation as he remembers the Hudsons.

"And you? You're just a butler? Why do you have such authority and wealth if you are only a common servant?" Stanley asks.

John Plummer heartily laughs. "Oh, young master, you used to ask me the same question when you were just a little boy. Your father rewarded me for being loyal for over forty years, and I became his assistant at some point. I am the one person who has been holding everything back, waiting for you to come and take over..."

Stanley teeth bares as he looks out of the window. "Are you trying to tell me that I am a billionaire heir?"

"A trillionaire, sir. You have just become the world's first trillionaire."

Nah, this is too ridiculous for Stanley to believe. The fact that he has lost his memory is not helping his disbelief.

What if this man is not who he claims to be, but is a bad person, maybe an organ harvester.

"I'm no longer interested in this! Drop me off immediately!" Stanley demands out of the blue, making John Plummer's face fall.

"But sir, I am very happy to see you. I have to take you back to the Snow mansion–"

"Drop me immediately, or I am going to be forced to punch someone!" Stanley screams, and he means every word of it.

Even though it pains John Plummer more than anything, he asks the convoy to come to a stop.

Stanley's wheelchair is dropped, and the door is opened for him.

"Please, young Master, before you go, can you hold on to this for me?"John asks.

He dips his hand into his pocket and shows Stanley a pure gold signet.

It belonged to his late father, and John Plummer has been holding on to it for him all these years.

"If I take it, will you leave me alone then?" Stanley heaves.

John hates to accept this, but this confused man is indeed his master. He must not disobey him.

"Yes, young master, I will not bother you unless you want to see me again," John bows.

So, Stanley snatches off the ring, pushing it into his pocket.

That's how Stanley Adkins, the useless cripple, came to be with the signet of Stanford Snow, the richest man in the world.

Who is this unknown man that has walked into this place and is demanding so much respect from Mister Gibney?!"Mister man, have you lost your damn mind?" "Who is your mother that Gibney should suffer some punishment because he insulted her?" But Stanley is calm. He has come for a missing person, and he is going to make sure that he gets it right. Before everyone could even blink twice, Mister Gibney has already knelt down to be punished. "Okay, sir, I accept my punishment, but don't hurt me too much, I am old enough to be your father!" The entire room goes quiet, because they realize that this must be a nice ordinary man. What kind of power does he have over Mister Gibney to make him comply? Stanley just smirks without a care, and then he lifts his walking stick to strike the old man, who is already shaking like a jellyfish. Halfway through, he stops and looks around the room, he is looking at the faces of the servants. "Y

Stanley makes a decision to cut all his hair because of one reason. His mother loved him with very short hair. He used to hate it, he used to cry and beg his father to save him from his mother and her buzzing clippers, but Stanford Snow would chuckle and watch by the door. "That's what a proper gentleman looks like, my boy," she would pull his cheek. "You are the heir of the Snow empire, Stanley. You have to look proper all the time." So, he is attending a very huge dinner party today, and he has decided to shave his head for it. Seven is waiting outside, but his cigarette slips from his lips when he sees how different Stanley looks. "Geez, could have fooled me there for a second," Seven chuckles. "Do you think that your wife would mind?" Stanley laughs. "Lauren is helping me run part of the Snow empire, I'm sure she wouldn't pay too much attention to something as small as this." Both of them are attending this party, and in a small car that won't attract a lot of attention.

"Lauren, you silly girl, do you have a death wish?!" She snaps at her. "Do you?" Lauren snaps right back. "Because we both know that the collaboration between the Hudson and the Snow family is what's making the Hudson family to prosper so much and move up the elite families ranking!" "What? You think this is your doing?!" Emerald cant help but laugh. "You are just a tiny ant without any relevance. We know I'm the reason why the Hudson family is going up the rank! Because of my relationship with Lord Snow!" Lauren huffs at the other end. "Then lets put it to the test, shall we? I won't approve the budget, and let's see how Lord Snow is going to react to that." Emerald's lips twists as veins pops on her neck. "Are you threatening me, Lauren?" She is wondering what gave her cousin so much bravery to speak to

Lauren drags a sharp sigh, feeling her blood boil in her veins.Emerald doesn't see her angry face, instead, she makes herself even more busy with the marketing experts, who she seems to be getting along with so well. Lauren turns around to leave, but Emerald grabs her hand and pulls her to the side. "Where the hell do you think you are going?!" "Home. Seems like I'm not needed here, and you want to make me your slave," Lauren folds her hands. "Why don't I leave, while you continue to laugh and talk with your new friends?" Emerald chuckles shortly and puts her hand on Lauren's shoulder. "You think this is what it's about? I'm trying to make you my slave? You are not even happy that I didn't bring up the outrageous thing that Stanley did?" Lauren's face is immediately drained of colour. The one person she doesn't want to offend is Lord Snow. He has a lot of trust in Stanley, and she doesn't want that to be ruined for them. "What did Stanley do?" Lauren's lips quiver as she hold

    56. Lauren did not tell her husband about the odd call she got from her cousin at the very early hours of the morning. To her, this is something that she can handle by herself. She doesn't want to give the dress to Emerald, because it's too expensive, and Tiffany Shade confirmed that it's one of a kind. What if Stanley ever asks for it and she can't provide it? Her driver takes her to Snow headquarters, and to her utmost surprise, Paris, Lord Snow's assistant, is standing by the door. "Mrs Adkins!" Paris waves at her with so much happiness. She bows slightly before they hug and then she reliefs her of her bag. "Oh, Paris, I have told you countless times that you don't have to stand by the door to wait for me!" Paris just laughs, but she doesn't tell her that she is doing this because she doesn't want anyone to disrespect Lord Snow's wife on her watch. She will just pretend that she likes to help Lauren with her bag. "Mrs Adkins, I think it's high time you finally accept an o

55Lauren has stepped out onto the balcony to pick up her cousin's call. Stanley is asleep on the bed already, at least that's what she thinks, and she thought that her cousin is calling her for an emergency. How's she supposed to know that the emergency is her cousin demanding the most trendy dress of the week? "What?" She screws her face. "Didn't you swear years ago that I was a pig and that you would never wear anything that has touched my body?" Emerald scoffs at the other end of the phone. "This doesn't count, okay? It's not like the dress is actually yours." "It's mine! My husband bought it for me!" Lauren defends herself. "No, he didn't, Stanley is a common pauper, how can he afford such a thing?! He obviously raided Lord Snow's closet and got that dress for you!" Emerald says. "Can't you see that I'm doing you a favor? Everyone thinks Lord Snow's fiancee wore it, and we know that it's clearly not you." Lauren shuts her eyes and shakes her head. "Lauren, how sure are y
