Ch 52 - The Pulse of What’s to Come
Gaiden’s heart was slamming so hard he could barely breathe. He stood frozen, staring at the shop owner like the old man had just told him he’d grow wings tomorrow. Then the old guy burst out laughing.“Hahaha! Relax, kid! I was just messing with you!” He wiped his eyes. “Truth is, pretty much everyone’s born with mana these days. Most folks just never bother training it—doesn’t help with their job, so why bother?”He leaned in, voice turning serious. “But listen to this part. You’re heading south, right? Everyone thinks it’s all peace and sunshine down there. Yeah… you’re gonna find out soon enough that’s a big fat lie. Watch your back.”He grinned. “And I’m guessing you’re one of those Landon trial people? Good luck out there. Try not to die on day one, yeah?”Gaiden let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. Old man… I swear you make it sound like half the people leaving here aren’t coming back. He bowed. “Thanks. Seriously.”“No problem!” The old man waved. “Next time you com
Ch 51 - Mana Tool
Gaiden and Laticia walked side by side through the bustling town. Stalls lined the streets one after another—fresh glistening fish, piles of meat and crisp vegetables on one side. Further down stood shops selling accessories, an inn, a weaponry, armor displays, general tools, and a potion shop.“Laticia, we should head straight for the port first,” Gaiden said. “We need to ask when the ship departs. If we have time left, we can buy everything we need before we sail south. I’m already out of rations, potions, and could do with some new clothes too.”Laticia nodded. “Fine. Let’s go.”When it comes to things like this, he’s far more reliable than he looks, she thought quietly to herself. When they reached the port, Gaiden stopped short. His eyes went wide. The docks were packed tight with people, carts, crates, and sailors shouting over one another. He had never seen so many souls gathered in one place. Then Laticia’s gaze drifted to the far side of the harbor. Her shoulders tensed. A li
Ch 50 – First Time
Windor Town spread out before them, packed with ships of every kind—passenger vessels, heavy cargo barges, and sleek private crafts bobbing in the harbor. It was one of the busiest places in the whole known world. Everyone knew this was the safest route to the Southern and Central Continents.Traveling straight south by land had been impossible for centuries. Once there had been ports in the Central Continent too, but sea monsters began gathering near its shores, drawn and stirred up by negative mana. Now anyone from Central or Eastern lands had to cross the border and pass through Windor to sail south.Gaiden stared wide-eyed. “Whoa… it’s huge. And so many people everywhere.”Laticia’s eyes shone bright with excitement. “This is what an adventure feels like! Our village was nothing compared to this.”“You said Neguro Kingdom is hidden though,” Gaiden said. “What did you mean by that?”Before she could answer, a group stepped out from behind them and stopped right in their path.“Are
Ch 49 - To The South
Gaiden’s eyes blazed with bright gold mixed with shifting vivid colors. His plain worn sword glowed with the exact same light. His face turned sharp and deadly serious. The huge beast felt that pressure instantly and snapped its gaze toward him. Fear flickered in its eyes, but wild hunger and killing instinct still burned deep. It wanted to tear every living thing apart.Laticia watched, her eyes narrowing. What is this light? It’s so bright… and this weight pressing down on me… I’ve felt divine mana before, but this is nothing like it. Interesting. Let’s see what you can really do. She blinked hard, barely able to see past the blinding glow wrapping around Gaiden.“Laticia, stay right there,” Gaiden said firmly. “Don’t step in. You’ll only get in my way.”“Tsk, fine,” she grumbled. “Just finish this already. It’s way too bright.”Gaiden tilted his head, confused. “Huh? What’s bright? This is just [Terra Mana].”The beast lunged in a flash, claws aimed straight for his head. Gaiden sh

“Are you okay?” Gaiden asked, pushing himself up slowly.“I’m fine. Just a scratch,” Laticia replied, wincing slightly but standing steady. This beast is way too powerful for just the two of us, Gaiden thought, gripping his sword tight. But I know there is always a way to defeat it. Or at least find a way to escape. He looked at her with a sudden spark of idea. “Hey Softy!”Laticia frowned, surprised. “What the hell are you talking about? Softy? I’m not—”“Never mind,” Gaiden cut in quickly. “Not the right time for that right now.”He turned serious. “By the way, how many traps did you set up earlier when you were chasing me?”Laticia paused and thought for a moment. “Hmm… around ten, I guess.”“Ten traps?!” Gaiden’s eyes widened. This girl really wanted me dead earlier. I was lucky I only ran into one.“Alright Laticia,” he said. “How do you hide them so well?”“Why do you need to know?” she asked suspiciously.“Just tell me. We don’t have much time.”“Fine, fine,” she sighed. “You s
Ch 47 – Encounter
The girl kept lunging at Gaiden, her knife flashing fast and sharp every time she moved. They circled deeper into the woods, but she never slowed down or showed any sign of letting up. Gaiden stepped back and twisted away from every strike, weaving around tree trunks until he suddenly stepped behind a thick bush and vanished from sight. The girl skidded to a halt, spinning left and right as she scanned the shadows. She gripped her knife tight and shouted loud enough for the whole forest to hear.“Come out! Where are you hiding?! Don’t tell me you’re chickening out now!”Tsk… Gaiden pressed his back flat against a rough tree trunk, his voice low in his own mind. I haven’t even made it halfway south yet. All I wanted was to train and get stronger. Instead I ran into some crazy person I saved—and now she’s trying to kill me!A second later, an arrow slammed into the wood right next to his ear.THWIP“Whoa!” He flinched hard, his heart pounding fast. I didn’t even hear her draw the bow. S
