Chapter 2 - WANTED

No soldier wanted to end up like Nathan but what they didn’t know was that the Secretary of Defense knew something was up.

He had asked his trustees to investigate the matter but most of them returned dead, his suspicion kept growing.

He decided to go to the hospital and dismiss Nathan himself so that it wouldn’t become obvious that he was stalling.

He noticed General Uyors’ wicked smile as Nathan was declared a Veteran. It had been a while since he sought evidence against Uyors’ mischievous ways especially after Uyors lost the Secretary of Defense election to him.

On his way to the White House after visiting Nathan, his car exploded. His driver didn’t make it either.

As Nathan heard this, he was terrified. The only person on his side was dead! Now Uyors would be acting Secretary of Defense and might have him killed.

“Bro you need to get the hell out of here, Uyors will come for you” Kelvin said, as he packed Nate’s few property in the room.

Kelvin was his most loyal crew member that turned into a friend. He quickly went to the doctors and requested for the transfer of Nathan. They left Washington to Vermont.

Six months later, Nathan was slowly getting used to his prosthetics. He learnt to fight with it regardless.

Besides, Old soldiers never die like they say.

Uyors didn’t give up, he placed out a Wanted notice of Nathan Ford and Kelvin Wiers for drug trafficking in the military.

All the men that General Uyors sent, didn’t find them because they maintained the lowest life without mobile phones for a very long time.

As they didn’t find Nathan, Uyors found Nathan’s parents and gave them guns to kill themselves else he would kill their son.

Uyors watched them shoot themselves in the head and the news was that “the parents of the notorious drug dealer and veteran, Nathan Ford committed suicide”

Nathan kept struggling and each day felt like a renewal of his humiliation. 

When he heard what happened to his Diabetic dad and sweet mum, he punched the wall so hard that he left a hole in it and swore to never let go of Uyors until the day he would watch Uyors drown in the pool of blood he had shed. 

It was during one of Nathan’s therapy sessions that he met an elite businessman, Mr Atkins, who was willing to invest in whatever business idea Nate brought up. 

The doctor agreed because it could help if occupational therapy were involved. Mr Atkins was a young, wealthy, and humble man in his early 40s, who appreciated the presence of responsible people.

With Kelvin’s help, they started a security reform. They trained interested men and women who were ready to be hired as bodyguards, bouncers, secret detectives, or other services.

As it progressed, Nathan bought shares from different companies with Mr. Atkins’ connections. His bank account was frozen after Uyors realized he left Washington so Nathan could not access the finances that the Secretary of Defense left him.

Within two years, Nathan and Kelvin, increased their landmarks by moving to Alaska then to New Jersey then to Tennessee where he started the NFT Limited which stands for Nathan Ford’s Tech.

Nathan had learnt software skills while Kelvin trained the security reforms. At least tech was something Nate wouldn’t need his legs for all the time until when he gets the advanced prosthetics.

NFT Limited was rising on the Forbes list but no one knew the CEO or Chairman yet. Everyone wanted to do business with him.

In the third year, he moved to New York and his security reform was deeply rooted in 15+ states in the United States.

He finally acquired advanced prosthetics that look exactly like his skin.

Nathan didn’t stop increasing his net worth as he remembered every humiliating moment he faced three years ago. It was a driving force for him.

He always imagined offering General Uyors and Mr Pearson choices that death would be better than.

As the Chairman of NFT Limited and The Security Treats, Respected companies in Washington were inviting him to invest.

Nathan and Kelvin already started building firms in Washington, the bounty investments in Washington were good so they decided to pay Washington a visit.

They were invited for a Q1 Quest, which is the event held annually in Washington DC where all the business tycoons sign new contracts, make new investments or sell important property.

In Washington, Elena dressed elegantly as her father reminded her “Remember who we are dealing with, the NFT chairman. We have to impress him to take on the project with the Pearson’s” Mr. Pearson said, adjusting his tie happily.

Elena only smiled, she hasn’t dated anyone since she broke up with Nate, she wouldn’t mind if she found someone better.

“But dad, you don’t even know what he looks like yet! Don’t be so sure” Elena said as the maid helped her with her heels.

“Looks don’t matter daughter, he is powerful and wealthy, fitting for a wealthy heiress,” He said and Elena wondered why her father has never cared about her feelings. It always had to be business linked.

Her dad continued “Who knows? You might catch his attention, my beautiful daughter, unlike that useless poor soldier you were in love with”
