The Four-Star-General Returns

The battle line was drawn, blood stenched everywhere, casualties were lying around, different firearms here and there, as Nathan moved around, checking for survivors.

He had just killed the Commander of the Liberian Army so the Secretary of Defense of the USA suggested Nathan should become a Four-Star General of the US Army. The news was everywhere about how Nathan ended that war. 

“Your crew will join the dispute in Israel, effective immediately, only if this mission is complete will I hand over the title of Four-Star General to you” General Uyors fiercely said to Nathan. 

General Uyors felt threatened by Nathan’s tactics and abilities. Who wouldn't? Nathan has a great stance on the field, his tactics and attack plans are always factual. Nathan has never lost a battle, he was rising in the military field.

Accepting this second mission was difficult because he just got back not up to 72 hours ago, he required a month off to see his fiancée, Elena, and marry her like he promised but duty calls.

On the second day, fighting alongside Israel was weird, Nathan felt sick but he continued to lead his crew. He was shot in the leg and injured badly, unfortunately, no one rescued him on time.

When the mission was successfully over, he was found helpless. They immediately returned to Washington but it was too late, his lower limb required an amputation.

After his amputation, he became a piece of mockery in two days.

At the hospital, General Uyors and other soldiers escorted the Secretary of Defense to Nathan’s room.

“The doctors found drugs in your bloodstream, that’s why you were strong enough to kill the strongest King of War in Liberia,” General Uyors said, holding what seemed to be a fake drug test report in his hands.

Nathan had never taken hard drugs, and it was something Elena admired him for. But he defended “I did nothing of that sort” and rolled his eyes away. 

Attitude boiled in his every word. He wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, not even the Secretary of Defense.

“Major Nathan Ford, for winning two wars consecutively, no legal charges will be pressed and from now on you are a Veteran,” He said, with his hands on his back pacing around the room like he wasn't sure but he meant it. 

His words shook the room to silence but Nate spoke with rage “Sir! I am innocent” 

He walked closer to Nathan’s bed, and in a lower tone he said,

“I tried to do more for you but I was quite disappointed. Have a good life and your reward for tactically winning those wars will be sent to your bank account”. 

With these words, The Secretary of Defense gave him a handshake with one salute which Nathan painfully  returned before he left, the other soldiers marched behind him except General Uyors.

Nathan understood that someone was framing him and he knew that a part of the Secretary of Defense’s mind knew it too.

General Uyors removed his badge from his uniform which was lying on the chair beside the bed and whispered “Don't mess with the Pearson Family”. He smiled wickedly and left.

“I will get you Uyors!” 

“This is just Genesis” Nathan screamed and disconnected his IV fluid out of frustration.

Sensations of pain from the lost Limb were all over his head.

He looked down on his stump and other bullet injuries on his body then he screamed until he entered shock. The doctors revived him and referred him to a therapist.

How would he face Elena Pearson? The heiress to the richest Family in America. Elena deserved a complete human, she is too beautiful to stay with a disabled.

All news stations, and headlines were about Nathan's drug addiction and how he used it during the wars.

Elena and her father went to the hospital. She loved him so much but there was nothing she could do.

If she's to become CEO soon, then she doesn't need to marry someone with such social stains. 

“You will cope well when you get prosthetics. I will send your physiotherapist in, Call if you need anything” The doctor patted Nathan’s back and left.

Elena came down from the car waiting for her dad but he made a call first “Are you in position?” Mr Pearson asked and the physiotherapist answered “yes sir, when do I get my balance?”

“Later” he hung up and came down from his Rolls-Royce 2024 model.

The beautiful physiotherapist assessed his hip as he sustained a bullet wound there. Her body covered her wound dressing procedure around his hip and Nathan released slight moans of pain. 

Elena and her dad reached his room and watched from the transparent glass.

She believed the red-haired woman was seducing her man.

Mr Pearson hugged his daughter, consoling her happily because his plans were working.

After about five minutes of sobbing, the physiotherapist left, then her father pulled out of the hug and Elena stormed into Nathan’s room.

The curvaceous goddess in front of him, luxurious fringe hair and designer adornments. She's the most beautiful girl he has ever met, and he was happy that  he kept memories with her. Tears rolled down her face uncontrollably.

“How dare you cheat on me Nate?” she said as she flung her hair. Nathan had a confused look on his face.

“The woman who was here, was she better?” she asked, shouting at the top of her voice. How should he explain that she was his physiotherapist who wasn't in her lab coat?

“No Elena, you are the best” he said strictly, he doesn't want to lose her but he also doesn't want to be a burden.

After about a minute of heated silence, he asked “Do you trust me Lena” She put her hands on her slim waist.

“Nate, I loved you even when my Father disapproved. I know you don't do drugs but how did it start?” She paced around the room, battling with her thoughts.

“You did not answer me Lena” He adored her presence because it might be one of the last. 

“I can not marry you, with all these,” she said calmly as she wiped the tears from her eyes. She gently slipped their engagement ring off her finger and kept it on his bed.

Nate watched her leave, he felt like a prisoner of himself, slowly her strawberry cologne faded away and he wished to turn the hands of time.

He picked the ring and added it to his neckpiece as a pendant.

Just then, his only friend ran into his room like he was running from bullets, and drifted to get balance “Bro, the Secretary of Defense is dead!”
