Chapter 1: Zero Class, Deceased God

The holographic status screen hovering above the awakening altar did not flicker. It did not glitch. It simply stared back at Zyren with a cold, mocking emptiness, displaying two words that made his blood run cold:

CLASS: DECEASED GOD

COMBAT SKILLS: NONE

"Are you kidding me?" Zyren muttered, his voice barely a whisper against the sudden, suffocating silence of the Grand Hall. "A dead god? Is that even a real class?"

For a second, the thousands of spectators gathered in the amphitheater seemed too stunned to speak. Then, the silence shattered into a roar of laughter and jeers.

"Yo, is this guy serious?" a guy in the front row yelled, pointing and doubling over. "A deceased god? What, did he die of embarrassment before he even got a class?"

"No way," a girl beside him giggled, snapping a quick picture on her comm-device. "Is he just a fancy corpse? Look at his stats! They’re literally all at base level. My grandma has more strength than this loser."

"Hey, buddy!" another voice called out from the crowd, dripping with sarcasm. "If you're already dead, can I have your boots? They look pretty clean!"

Zyren gripped the edges of the obsidian altar, his knuckles turning white. He tried to maintain a stoic, unbothered facade, but inside, his chest was a chaotic mess of panic and confusion. He was tall, with sharp, striking features and dark hair that fell over his eyes, but right now, he felt incredibly small.

Suddenly, a harsh, mechanical siren wailed from the vaulted ceiling.

“Warning. Unregistered anomaly detected at Altar Seven,” a cold, synthesized voice echoed through the chamber. “System scan indicates non-viable combat signature. Threat level: Null. Activating automated purge sequence to maintain grid integrity.”

Zyren’s head snapped upward. High above, three sleek, geometric defense turrets descended from the metallic rafters, their barrels glowing with a terrifying, high-voltage violet light.

"Oh, shit," Zyren muttered.

"Dude, run!" someone in the crowd shouted, though their tone was more amused than worried.

The turrets hummed, the sound vibrating in Zyren's teeth. They were locking onto him. The system didn't recognize a 'Deceased God' as a living player—it saw him as a glitch, a virus to be vaporized.

"Target locked. Purging in three... two..."

"Yeah, I'm out!" Zyren spun on his heel and bolted toward the swirling blue vortex of the Tutorial Zone portal at the far end of the dais.

He lunged forward, throwing his entire weight into a desperate, ungraceful dive. Behind him, a blinding beam of violet plasma scorched the stone altar, vaporizing the very air he had occupied a millisecond prior. The explosive concussive wave blasted him forward, sending him tumbling head over heels into the cold, swirling light of the portal.

Zyren slammed hard against a solid stone floor, rolling several feet before coming to a stop. He groaned, rubbing his shoulder as he slowly pushed himself up.

He was in Tutorial Zone 1.

The air here was damp and freezing, smelling heavily of wet earth, moss, and a faint, metallic trace of old blood. Massive, jagged stalactites hung from the ceiling of the gargantuan cavern, partially illuminated by glowing blue fungi that clung to the damp walls.

"Alright, let's see the damage," Zyren sighed, tapping his wrist to bring up his interface.

His stats were a joke. Every single attribute—Strength, Agility, Constitution, and Intelligence—was locked at a measly ten. A baseline human. He had no magical energy, no physical buffs, and absolutely no starting equipment.

He began to search the immediate area, his hands sweeping over the cold mud and loose gravel. "Come on, give me something. A sword, a spear... even a heavy rock."

After a minute of frantic searching, his hand brushed against cold metal. He pulled it from the muck, his face falling. It was a rusty, chipped iron dagger, barely longer than his palm. It looked like it had been used to dig up potatoes rather than slay monsters.

"Seriously? A butter knife?" Zyren shook his head, holding the weapon in a reverse grip. "Well, I guess it’s better than throwing dirt."

Before he could even stand fully upright, a low, rumbling sound echoed through the dark cavern. It started as a faint vibration under his boots, but quickly escalated.

Howl.

It was a deep, guttural sound that seemed to shake the very stone around him. Then, another howl joined it, and another, until the cavern was filled with a terrifying symphony of canine bloodlust.

Zyren froze. His heart hammered against his ribs like a trapped bird. A pack. Great. Just great.

In the darkness of the tunnels ahead, dozens of crimson eyes ignited. They bobbed up and down, moving with terrifying speed. The scraping of hundreds of claws against the wet stone grew louder, a deafening drumbeat of impending death.

As the danger closed in, Zyren felt a strange, sudden shift deep within his own chest.

It wasn't fear—or at least, not just fear. It was a deep, throbbing heat that suddenly pooled in his lower abdomen, radiating outward through his veins. It felt heavy, intoxicating, and intensely carnal, like a thick, dark velvet wrapping around his spine. His breath hitched, his skin flushing with a sudden, illicit warmth. It was a phantom echo of a power he couldn't comprehend, a latent, ancient divinity that felt less like magic and more like a raw, dominant physical presence.

He closed his eyes for a fraction of a second, a sudden, fleeting memory flashing in his mind—the memory of a pair of glowing, golden eyes looking down at him, a touch so searingly hot and intimate it had burned itself into his very soul.

He forced his eyes open, shaking his head to clear the haze. Focus, Zyren. You're about to get eaten.

The pack burst from the shadows. They were feral wolves, each the size of a motorcycle, with matted grey fur and jaws dripping with acidic saliva. They surrounded him in a wide semi-circle, growling and baring their yellowed fangs. Zyren backed up until his spine hit the cold, unforgiving surface of a stone pillar. He raised his rusty dagger, his hands trembling slightly despite his best efforts to look tough.

"Alright, look," Zyren said, his voice echoing in the cave. "I don't taste good. I'm mostly carbs and self-loathing. How about we just call it a day?"

The wolves didn't seem interested in a negotiation. They parted, making way for a creature that made Zyren's breath stop entirely.

It was a titanic Direwolf. It stood easily nine feet tall at the shoulder, its fur jet-black and bristling with crystalline spikes. Its eyes weren't red, but a burning, hellish orange. This was a Level 10 boss-tier monster, a creature meant to be fought by an entire raid party of fully geared initiates.

The Direwolf locked its burning gaze on Zyren. It let out a low, bass-heavy growl that vibrated through the floor, making Zyren's knees buckle. It took a slow, menacing step forward, its massive jaws opening to reveal rows of razor-sharp teeth.

Zyren braced himself, squeezing the hilt of his rusty dagger. This is it. I'm going to die in a wet cave on day one.

The titanic beast coiled its muscles, preparing to spring. It launched itself forward, a massive shadow of teeth and claws flying straight at Zyren’s throat.

Time seemed to slow to a crawl.

At that exact moment of absolute mortal peril, the dark, heavy heat inside Zyren's chest finally boiled over. The passive class feature—the dormant aura of the Deceased God*—triggered.

It didn't manifest as a bright flash of light or a destructive blast of energy. Instead, a suffocating, ancient gravity erupted from Zyren's body. The air in the cavern instantly grew thick, heavy with the intoxicating scent of ozone, dry earth, and crushed roses. It was a pressure so immense, so overwhelmingly dominant, that it felt like the weight of the entire sky was collapsing into the cave.

Mid-leap, the Direwolf’s eyes suddenly widened. The burning orange fire in its pupils instantly vanished, replaced by a sheer, naked, primal terror.

The beast’s trajectory shattered. It crashed clumsily into the stone floor, sliding on its belly, its massive claws scraping frantically as it tried to halt its own momentum.

Zyren blinked, holding his breath, expecting the final bite.

But it never came.

The titanic Direwolf lay flat on its stomach, its massive head pressed firmly against the wet stone floor right at Zyren's feet. It was trembling so violently that its crystalline spikes rattled like dry bones. It let out a pathetic, high-pitched whimper, completely submissive, utterly defeated by the mere presence of the entity standing before it.

Behind the boss, the rest of the feral wolf pack instantly collapsed to their knees, bowing their heads in unison, too terrified to even look in Zyren's direction.

Zyren stared down at the massive, terrifying beast that was currently acting like a guilty puppy. He looked at his rusty dagger, then at the trembling wolf, and then back to the dagger.

"Uh..." Zyren muttered, completely bewildered. "Good... boy?"

The Direwolf let out another soft whimper, burying its snout even deeper into the dirt, desperate to show its complete and utter submission to the god standing before it even if that god was supposedly dead.

Before Zyren could even begin to process the sheer absurdity of the situation, a sharp, sudde

n gasp echoed from the shadows of a nearby tunnel.

Zyren's eyes snapped toward the sound. He wasn't alone.
