Chap. 64 The Punishment

Abraham's words intimidated Jonathan. The two men of different ages stared at each other intently.

"Smith, you promised me to protect my daughter no matter what happened. But why did this incident happen to her?" asked Abraham emotionally.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Morris. I was a little careless that this thing could happen to Magdalena. But as I promised in the engagement ceremony, I mean to look after Magdalena for the rest of my life."

"It's good that you don't fool her. Suppose you want to play with my daughter's life. I won't let you go!" Abraham threatened.

"Don't think badly of me, sir. I accepted this arrangement because I also have feelings for Magdalena, not solely for a business relationship that will expand my power. You already know who I am, don't you? I have not had to pretend to love Magdalena these five years." retorted Jonathan.
