Her body jerked as her breath caught, as if her lungs were desperately trying to resist the poison eating away at them. Cold sweat ran down his temples, while trembling hands gripped her aching chest.

Freddie bolted upright from his chair, his chair sliding roughly against the floor. His eyes widened, his breathing ragged. “Why is there so much blood?” his voice was full of shock, almost panic. For the first time, her indifference began to crack.
